  1. Hey guys! I just got done reading this entire thread. Blah, I feel like I'm missing out on the whole GA thing. I'm going to the Anaheim gig in Sept and I tried to get pit seats but ended up with section 220 seats and now it's pretty much too late to get GA. I know those are pretty great seats, (seating chart here: http://www.barrystickets.com/images/los-angeles-seatingcharts/Arrowhead-Seating-Chart.gif) but they're on Chris's side and I know that it's a lot more mellow there. So... will it be pretty much dead, or will people still be standing up/jumping/fist-pumping? :$

I'd say just go mental at your seats. It's a Muse concert. Have fun and don't worry about what everyone sitting down is thinking. You're supposed to have fun like that.

  2. Question! I'm trying to make barrier as i'm ridiculously short (haha 5'1), its epic fun, and plus.......it's barrier!

but around what time do i have to get there- i was thinking 6am-ish?

    Thanks!!

6am is really a little bit too early. For one of my gigs I arrived at around 11am and was way up in the front. For the other I arrived at 3pm and still got barrier because I'm quick.

It really all depends on the weather and the venue. 7am would be the earliest I'd say to line up, but you could still probably make it to barrier if you got there before noon. For both my gigs I got second row at first, but then I was able to squeeze in to the barrier without knocking anyone off. Also, I ran a bit when security wasn't looking :p

Edit: Also, since you're short, you could be kind and ask a couple tall people if you could step in front of them.

  3. As the day of the concert gets closer, I find myself with more questions.

I managed to swap my seated ticket for GA (yay!) and of course I plan to be there early so I can get a spot at the barrier. Do people who show up early to wait all day bring stuff with them to make the wait more comfortable? Such as chairs, games, etc. This will be my first time, so I really have no idea what to bring or not to bring for the actual waiting. I have someone who can pick up any extra stuff I have before the gates open, so I'm not worried about being stuck with anything.

Also, I've read this whole thread and the general consensus seems to be you can take turns leaving the line to get food, take a bathroom break, or whatever. I think I remember someone saying you could even leave to take a nap. My question is, how long can you leave the line without breaking line etiquette (assuming you have someone with you to hold your place)? Can you leave for as long as an hour? I'm not saying I'll be doing this necessarily, I'm just wondering.

Also, has anyone seen a thread for the Salt Lake City venue? I haven't been able to find one but I might not be looking in the right place.

Yes, people do bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, etc. As long as you have someone to take your stuff back, you should be fine. I make sure I go in fresh when the doors open. I don't want to have any extra things for security to check to slow down the process so I don't get barrier.

I'd say an hour is pushing it a little... not entirely sure. It sort of depends on if you've made friends with the people in line. But you can take turns going on bathroom breaks and such.

  4. and that sucks. But there's always musebay on here. Or if you're desperate, scalpers. I've also found that for other bands, there are always people with spare GA's in line who are looking to sell to fans.

Besides, it's better to not be in GA and have a seat than get caught and kicked out.

    Yeah, true.

But, it's not terrible if you don't get GA. People shouldn't beat themselves up for not getting it. The show should be enjoyed no matter where they are.

  5. So this is for all the people who have been to gigs on the American leg of the tour.

I am headed to the portland show and I was wondering that if I lined up at noon, would it be early enough to get barrier or not? I've heard people say that the GA line isn't too long at noon, but i'm not sure.

Or at all the gigs do they have bracelets so if you get there at like 8:00 AM they give you a bracelet with a number on it because I have heard of some venues doing that.

    Any info is appreciated!

It sort of depends. For my Fairfax show, I arrived at 11am and got barrier. For my Baltimore show I arrived at 3pm and still got barrier.

It also depends on the venue. Some venues give you wristbands in the mornings, some give you wristbands right before you go in which happened for my gigs. Yeah, call up the venue if you want to know some info about those particulars. (wristbands, etc.)

  6. hahaha yes that was us! were you the one who told us we have to jump up very quickly when security hops over the barrier?

hmm I don't think I said that... I did tell you I went to Monday's gig and that I get really into these concerts. remember? I had like straight brown hair.. I sort of squeezed into the barrier when we all stood up. (luckily)

  7. Haha I have some 'barrier bruises' on my arms to from the Baltimore show. :awesome:

I heard Hardcoremidget yell "I love you Dom!" and the security guy said something to him too.

I loved the GA Muse experience and will definately do that again when/if I get to see them again.

:awesome: The bruises show we really rock out :D

For both mondays and wednesdays gigs I was also screaming I LOVE YOU MATT I LOVE YOU DOM I LOVE YOU CHRIS :chuckle:

Definitely. I officially love GA

  8. hahahahahahaha yeah! he said something like " ehhhcck! easy there.." and then gestured to wipe the, i guess you could say, "fanboy love" oh his shirt hahha..he was funny

@Glorious Resistance: i was at the barrier towards were it started to curve to matt's side..sorta in between like dom and matt's towers..right next to bellamy'szetagirl

you were the short one with your friend?? I was next to you guys!! :D I talked to you a couple times. and I was the one freaking the hell out like most of the people there :p

  9. Im 5"1 and i knew that i wouldnt be able to see..so for the Baltimore show i made sure i got there first and i was the very first one in line for the night!

the wait wasnt even bad and it was drizzling at 35 degrees F and it still wasnt bad...anyway im short and i earned barrier..i did none of that push-shove crap ;)

Where were you on the barrier? Maybe I saw you.

    Here's my experience for GA.

For the Fairfax gig, at first I got second row when we first got in the pit. I noticed some room in between some people and figured it would be possible to squeeze up to the barrier without knocking anyone off. (I was one of the people that lined up for hours anyway)

Everyone stood up and I got my wish  Once Muse started I expected it to get really rough..but I honestly had so much room. Didn't get any bruises at all (except for my forearms from leaning on the barrier).

For the Baltimore gig same thing happened (second row, but got barrier). And I didn't have as much room as before which is what I expected. Still had room to jump though. But near the end of the show the crowd was soooo intense and awesome and there were tons of crowd surfers so I got packed on the barrier. It was a fantastic time though. I'm definitely loving GA and plan on getting it to as many more Muse concerts I can go to!

Edit: My neck is in pain though from head banging so much and my arms from punching the air and such. It's good though. Shows I was so into it :awesome: The security guard in front of me actually told me to calm down  Of course I didn't listen. He was probably kidding anyway for he had a sense of humour beforehand.

  10. Even at really small shows (this is my experience with other artists) in tiny little venues it's not close enough for sweat. Spit might be a better possibility:D

 Alright... I mean, I've just heard a lot of things from my friends about gigs they've been to and I wasn't sure if it was the same with Muse.

The barrier is about 1m 1/2 away from the stage.

Srsly what is it with people and wanting Bellamy's sweat??

    *shudders*

    I didn't say I wanted Matt's sweat on me...:erm:

In general arena gigs it's usually a few feet, I don't think Muse have played that intimately in a while

    didn't think so

Anyone who wants Bellamy's sweat on them needs their head examined.

    Eew.

    :indiff:

    i didn't say I wanted bellamy's sweat on me!

  11. okay, so say I make it to the barrier. I'm right up front.

How close is the stage to the barrier? does it vary for different venues? or is it always like, close enough for matt to sweat on you, or is there like a gap bigger than that?

    (if this makes sense...)

  12. for my March 1st gig, i'm hoping to get there at around 9am.

for the March 3rd one though, I'll probably only be able to make it at around 3....or 2... Does that guarantee me a spot a the very back? I hope not...I want to be at least in the middle for that gig because I know i wont make it to the barrier for that one... What do you think

  13. Yeah pretty much. Well, they power walk. The security tend to pull people back if they run however some of us just go for it . We legged it at Teignmouth, security had no chance against us.

The barrier is competitive, every Muser for themselves!

Kinda... security inside will ask you to walk and not run... So you kinda power walk and run when they're not looking

Yes, depending on how strict security is they try and prevent this, some even threaten to pull you back if you run/push.. it is also really scary when there's a group of you because you tend to split up, I am a very slow runner so people tend to need to wave at me so I can spot them

 Alright well, hopefully I'll make friends and we'll sneak running together
