  1. Duncan has the croup. He seems to be more prone to it than his siblings. He started sounding like something might be going on on Tuesday (he sounded a little barky when he cleared his throat), but he wasn't coughing, no fever, acting perfectly chipper. He was fine all day. At bedtime his breathing started to sound labored. He woke up around 2:30am and sounded really bad. Really constricted throat. He still didn't have a fever, and only an occasional barky cough. But the difficulty with breathing was very scary. We called the nurse's line. they recommended sitting in the bathroom with the shower on really hot. Did that. Worked a little, but when they called back and heard his breathing, they said to take him in. Justin took him (and I stayed home with Miranda, who was also up and cranky.) They did a breathing treatment with a steroid mist in it plus some liquid steroid. They were gone till a little after 6am (and I had just got Miranda down around 5:30..with all the flooding rain that night, too)! Duncan's still on the steroid, but overall sounds so much better. He's coughing a little more, but it's more a productive cough than the barky business. Ok, that's my novel!
