Matt's vocals are at their best on TR but I agree that they're less original than those on OOS.
-
UD is weeeeeeeak live and an average song.
Nope.
-
NSC should replace UD as a setlist staple.
But UD is brilliant live, it's also a much better song.
-
I've heard Sunburn on the radio every Saturday afternoon for the last 5 weeks.
-
I thought UD was great live when I saw it.
For the next album, I would rather see Muse come up with more songs like UD than Unnatural Selection and Uprising. I find those 2 songs boring now.
-
People posted very sensible posts about why it was totally outrageous for some individuals to expect Muse to split up just because these particular individuals didn't like what they were doing.
I think most people had more sense than to bother posting in that thread.
-
In relation to Jimmyneutrons list, I don't expect to see Guiding Light, MK Ultra or Unnatural Selection at all on the next tour. I think they'll go just as Invincible, Assasin and COD did before.
-
Because there appears to be two very clear groups who stand out. The people in the middle don't speak up too often.
I don't agree with that. I'd consider myself to be in the middle and there's more who feel the same as me.
-
Why not? It was a valid thread, which showed a lot more tactful posts from moaners than from supporters in general.
Why do you constantly insist on creating these groups of 'moaners' and 'supporters'? I'm unhappy with Muse's setlists but that thread was lame.
-
Well if those people want to settle for mediocrity, fine by me. I can accept that.
It's just incredibly frustrating for people who know that Muse have a lot more to give.
It's medicore in your eyes. For a lot of people it's brilliant. Different tastes and all that.

I don't believe that there are "real" fans and "fake" fans (unless you mean boardies and Twitards), but I firmly believe that it takes more devotion to complain about the band not using their full potential, rather than just blindly following along with everything they do.
But some people are genuinely happy with everything Muse do so complaining wouldn't make sense. It's not always a case of blindly following the band.
-
Yeah you don't have to enjoy it, but all I'm saying is there's little point in trying to argue against the people who are happy as they don't have anything to say about it except that they're happy with it. I think some people think that most forum users are unhappy but I think it's just that the people who aren't happy have a lot more to say.
Another reason this forum lacks positivity is that lots of people have stopped coming on the boards because they were becoming so negative. I've noticed a lot of musers on tumblr, twitter and livejournal absolutely hate these boards.

Muse playing all-singles setlists just doesn't make sense. I've always thought of them as a band where people listen to the album rather than the singles. They're singles barely even make the top 40 these days.
-
A lot of people who aren't on the boards do want to hear old stuff. The amount of people I was chatting to at Oxegen who were praying that Muse would play Showbiz. I found that quite odd.
-
I don't think laziness is the problem. I think paranoism and plain fear of fucking up is the problem.
That's what I think too.
I'd love to get a real explanation for the shorts setlists and lack of variety on the tour. Even if it was in a few years time.

I was watching this earlier. Matt talks about making setists at 2.40. Why don't they use this process anymore
-
The end bit is my favorite part. I cried like a baby when the piano kicked in at Oxegen. It started to rain at the 'wash me away, clean your body of me' part. It was perfect.

Dom has passed comment on the set lists in the past and didn't seem 100% happy about it, and Chris looks bored as hell playing GL etc. Tbh maybe it's just easier to go with the flow in their opinion.
I still think Matt's the driving point for all this shit.
I doubt Matt's some kind of evil dictator of the setlists. If that is the case and they're not standing up to him, they need to man up. I know Matt writes the setlists but if they don't think he's doing a good job, they should write the setlists themselves.

New Born = out.
Map of the Problematique = rarity.
Guiding Light = (Hopefully) out.
Overture = out.
Feeling Good = (I pray to God) out.
Stockholm Syndrome = occasionally played.
Insert all the worst songs from the new album and you have the setlist for the next tour.
And you win the prize for the most depressing post of the day. :'( I doubt Feeling Good will be gone. I really hope they do change on the next tour but my gut feeling is that it will just get worse.
He's the man in charge of the setlists.I think if Chris and Dom had a big problem with it, they would have put their foot down though.
-
@hipbones just wondering why do you say its Matts attitude that has changed the most and not just Muse as a whole?
-
Didn't really think that far Yeah it's just obviously the lack of older stuff has set my Muse anger off, especially after they played two identical sets in a row (minus sound cut outs )
I think I've become immune from setlist related anger. Shit setlists are happening so often that I stopped caring.
-
Did I say it was a fact? All I said is that it wasn't an opinion
I'm over exaggerating but they have let down the fans on here a bit (setlist polls, short sets etc).
Well what is it if it's 'not even an opinion' ? and yes, you definitely are over exaggerating.
-
Oh and Muse don't give two shits about their fans and are lazy bastards Not even an opinion haha
How is that fact? Yes the setlists are shit but in every other aspect I think they're great to their fans.

I had a Muse nightmare last night. :'(
I went to see them at some festival and they were playing on a small stage in the middle of the day. It was all going brilliantly until half throuhg Citizen Erased when I noticed KHud walking towards Matt on the stage and he stopped playing while she said something to him and then all of sudden the music stopped and Matt announced that Kate wanted to make an announcent. She went on a huge rant about Chimpanzees dying in Africa and everyone except me and three other people left. When Kate had finished playing I went up to Matt and said that he had to make it up to me and play a set of win now but he started being a dick and was all 'I don't owe you anything'. Then he turned on the telly and U2 were covering Uprising and I started crying on the couch saying 'You really are turning into U2 :'(' (at this point the festival had turned into my sitting room) . I was all I'm going to tell everyone on the boards about this and they shall be pissed but he just shrugged and walked off with Kate.
Then it was just me and Chris and his wife and we all had a bitch fest about Kate and I told Chris I was so dissapointed that I didn't get to see all the songs I had planned on seeing and he said that I didn't know which ones they were going to play but I said you always play the same songs at every show silly. And he just laughed.
I woke up after that and it took me awhile to realise it wasn't real. I actually don't have a problem with Kate Hudson so I don't know what was going on with that dream.
