  1. Not sure if this constitutes as a controversial opinion, but I was listening to Muse radio on Pandora and it's humourous to me how a majority of the "related songs" sound NOTHING like Muse. I'll give them Coldplay and Franz, but The Strokes and Phoenix. No...not so much. Even Fuel and Aqualung? What?

I 100% agree. I became such a fan of Muse in the first place because they were a rock band, and sounded so much heavier and more original than the other bands in the mainstream e.g. Razorlight, Strokes.

I don't wanna hear crappy indie clones as related artists. Tis why I was happy when I discovered, via internet mostly, so many new bands that I considered much more similar to Muse, albeit not mainstream, such as Amplifier etc.

  2.

I bet you've slagged off comparisons between Muse & Radiohead, comparing Kasabian & Oasis is just as retarded.

Most bands use the same structures and rely on chorus', might as well start comparing Muse to Oasis on that basis.

Using synths =/= experimental, anyone using that term often sounds like they don't know what they are talking about and since you clearly don't know Kasabian's influences:

Would you mind it if you stopped being so bloody patronising? "I clearly don't know", you don't know a thing about what I know quite clearly.

I've never listened to Muse, before I listened to them or not, and thought "Hmm, is that the new Radiohead song?"

Whereas I HAVE thought that for Kasabian and thinking it was Oasis. I know who they're influenced by. Primal Scream obviously are an influence, but you cannot deny that they sound very much like Oasis at times.

No, synths doesn't = experimental, which is why Kasabian aren't a very experimental band. Much like Oasis.

  3. Sorry, but how can you compare Kasabian to Oasis?

Oasis is straight up raw guitar based rock, Kasabian owe more to Primal Scream, Death In Vegas etc for their sound.

And why is it people complain when bands don't change their sound? No band has to, if a band is still making great music in that sound, there's no reason whatsoever to change apart from to impress somebody unintelligent enough to believe that "credible" music has to be completely different every time

I'm not the biggest fan of Kasabian, but comparing them to Oasis is just as retarded as comparing Oasis to The Beatles, The Beatles completely changed, Oasis never did.

Listening to a song like Underdog, how can you not hear Oasis when you hear it? I thought it WAS Oasis for a brief time. And Kasabian haven't changed much at all either.

"Oasis is straight up raw guitar based rock".

So are Kasabian. Adding a synth here and a string part there only makes them mildly more experimental to my ears. They still use similar structures, similar vocals, similar reliance on choruses etc.

I'm not saying they're bad, but I do think they're just what Oasis were to a previous generation.

  4. Knowledge about God/the bible isn't what matters, it's your heart. And although you may not feel like God has been there for you, the chances are that there've been many times (maybe even times you don't know about it) that God has been there for you.

  5. I like Forced In. It starts out kinda "pretty" and gets increasingly weirder and creepy sounding. It gives me some interesting mental imagery. Like you're taking a nice walk in the woods and then it gets darker, starts raining, and zombies come out. Or maybe it's just me...

    :yesey:

I love that about Forced In

  6. I agree with Obi in the sense that Matt is only fooling himself. I only fooled myself for many years and it only lead to death and destruction - losing everything I had due to pride and selfishness. If he loved the Lord, with his talent, he would smoke any artist I have ever heard of. Have a blessed day everyone. Be strong, serve God only, know that if you do beautiful heaven awaits.

How poetic! Couldn't put it better myself.

  7.

I was very interested in the Prog Issue that he said that he doesn't believe in God but he respects how musicians like Bach were playing for a higher purpose.

I think Matt is the type that wants to believe there's a God deep down but can't bring himself to believe it.
