  1. Dee3Dee, get here now.

And that's Dead Cuts btw- they basically play this outro whenever they play it now, it's not just every now and again (actually, they never play the song anyway). The outros have become ridiculously unoriginal.

I remember hearing a live Uno from back in 2001, and they used a Fury outro. That's what it should be about- the day Muse play an outro riff Musewiki doesn't know, they'll have succeeded.

    Need moar outro.

At least next tour we'll get new outros. Of course, they'll all be worn out after 3 gigs, but hey.

I know it's called, I just don't like the name lol. Dead Star rarely gets a play now so it's hardly something to write home about, you'd agree. Yeah as you say, outros are shit...I actually know what's coming at the end of every live track.

You are correct, and Musewiki might implode. lol.

The riffing has gotten to the point where, as hipbones said, it's just really fucking lame. I can pretty much nail every single riff on the setlist depending on the songs they play at gigs. "Oh, Map of the Problematique tonight. Followed by some Who Knows Who riffing."

    The way I see it, this is what they need to improve on;

    * LEAVE THE FUCKING RIFFING ALONE IF YOU CAN'T BE SPONTANEOUS ABOUT IT OR AT LEAST CHANGE THE RIFFS EVERY NOW AND THEN

    * Longer setlists

    * Varied setlists. Playing the same shit setlist everywhere (except... well you know) and then making an effort for one night (Wembley second night) doesn't cut it.

    * NO SPECIAL TREATMENT! YOUR HARDCORE FANS AREN'T SITUATED EXCLUSIVELY IN ASIA AND/OR AUSTRALIA

    * On the off-chance freak accidents where they do play older songs, they should fucking keep playing them. Don't play them just once or twice (I'm looking at you Dead Star) and then stop. Or even better, do the same with Feeling Good and Guiding Light. Just play them once or twice and then don't play them for the rest of the tour.

    * Stop with the bullshit excuses. If you lazy assholes spent half as much time rehearsing older songs and planning your setlists as you spent on making excuses for being lazy, then we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.

    * New Born. Piano. Faster. Or just replace it with Unnatural Selection and be done with it.

    * Get rid of the fancy lights, they're only distracting, both for the band and the fans. I'm pretty sure the seizures that Matt gets from these lights is what's making him write shit songs.

    * Stop with the harmonica. Put Knights of Cydonia somewhere else in the setlist or just drop it entirely. I don't care, just stop closing with it all the time.

    * Setlist polls. Don't ever do this again unless you guys are going to take it seriously.

    * Stop playing Feeling Good. There was a time when it was sorta funny to bash it all the time, but seriously boys, just stop playing it already.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'll probably think of it later.

You are made of so much win it's ridic.

I agree with ALL of the above...and I swear I am pissed off already at the Aussie tour because I know we (ie: those not living there/attending these gigs) are going to get pwnd.

  2. I also think they should drop all the riffs and shit and concentrate more on putting more songs into the tour. I wouldn't want to feel like they really don't care about their own songs. It does make me wonder just how much of their live shows are taken up by riffs and fillers. Take them all out and you'd have a half hour show I bet

I'm bored of them playing the same riffs over and over and over. Why not play their own sodding riffs or outros at the ends of songs? I remember the time Micro Cuts was played as the outro to Dead Star in Japan...like, why can't they be that spontaneous all the time?

I agree, take away the riffs and jams and you'd lose half an hour easy.

But that's the thing. I don't see anyone complaining that there's too much new material in Muse's setlists. People generally expect to hear a lot of songs from the currently promoted album. It's the fact that all the things they've been playing that isn't new material has virtually stayed the same throughout the whole tour.

And re: your last statement - that's all Muse have been doing this whole tour is playing the same songs over and over and over and over and over again.

I'm actually not that bothered about the new material being played, I expect it. Like you say, it's the fact that it's the same older tracks being thrown at us every gig. I wish they'd mix it up more. Seriously, it makes me sad that I don't want to see them anymore over the head of their laziness.

I think actually, it's the length of these gigs that's bugging me. Muse have five albums, they're renowned as the best live act on the planet, but they play 15 song arena gigs and 20 song stadium sets? I'm afraid flashing lights, pyros and UFOs don't make up for this.

    +1.

Yeah well, until they start playing it properly they might as well not bother to play it at all.

I agree with this. I'm bored of it now. What's the point in playing it if you can't even be arsed playing it as it should be?

Aye, the way they're playing at the moment is poop.

    - Matt not playing the intro :noey:.

    - Using a slow click-track :noey:.

    - Lack of beefy guitar tone :noey:.

    - Dull solos :noey: (Matt used to alternate tapping, alt. picking, etc, rather than just making random noises).

    - Nasally, slurred vocals :noey:.

    - No huge wailing scream to cap off the final chorus :noey:.

    - Same outro riffs over and over again :noey:.

    New Born done properly:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e3Amp4SgOY

I was shocked at how slow the click track was when I heard the Wembley bootleg.

Matt seriously needs to get back in the game, this has lazy written all over it. Ridic.

  3. Thats not a keytar, thats a handheld piano constructed from a shard of the planet Krypton.

    Shes insane.

On topic though, I enjoy KoC as a closer. It's epic. Though it quickly lost it's appeal as this tour progressed. Take A Bow needs to be returned please.

She isn't insane and her keytar is better. She puts on a better show for that matter too.

TaB needs to come back for srs though, I agree with you there. Would be an ace closer.

  4. He has a keytar and a GLOW-IN-THE-DARK Keytar:LOL:

He doesn't have a Lady Gaga keytar.

Which lets face it, shits all over his. As do her sunglasses.

    148170_450627471287_504591287_6025212_4420358_n.jpg

Oh...yeah KoC needs to be dropped as closer. As soon as I hear the harmonica I know it's time to pack up and leave.

  5. Yea not sure why you guys think they are gonna learn a lesson? They are still selling tickets and getting raving reviews, and until that changes they arnt likely to change.

Innit. They got 2 stars at the o2 last November. Did they give a fuck? No.

  6. Matt isn't a pushover. If Dom and Chris object to any decision he makes I'm sure he wouldn't go down without a fight. Dom and Chris probably can't be bothered arguing with him, and just go along with the setlists of cheese.

The way I see it is that when people think of Muse they think of Matt. Matt Bellamy is Muse to casual fans...or he's the only one people would recognise of the 3 of them - esp now he's banging KH. Sure Chris and Dom play a huge part but without Matt, who writes the songs (not great songs, but still) etc etc, they are shafted. So yeah, I'd say it is a case of what he says goes most of the time. Less hassle to argue with him I can only presume.

"Half-assed" would be a good way to describe this tour. I wouldn't be surprised if that same mindset carries over to their next tour.

    Half assed with ridic excuses.

Damn right it was a joke. And it was a bad one at that.

Management: "Let's let the fans vote for songs this summer!"

    Muse: "YEAH!"

    *fans vote*

Management: "Oh, they voted for songs that weren't on the last two albums."

Muse: "Fuck the fans, they'll keep paying to see us anyway. They are already butthurt from the screwing we gave them with the Asian setlists. I'm sure they won't feel as much pain if we screw them again."

Management: "Yeah, you're right. Do what you want.... OH! But make sure you make an effort for the last night at Wembley. That should make things alright again!"

    Muse: "Fine."

    Beautifully written script. :yesey:

No, he is just making sure the bass is firm. :)

It should be firmly in the back of Matts head for playing such bullshit.

  7. He is also the man in charge of the set design and ideas (hello towers!), the man who lost his pedal (so they can't play MM) and the man who doesn't like the piano anymore because it cuts him seeing from the public (coming from someone who spend 95% of his time with his eyes closed when he is facing that same public) hence why we only get 2 piano songs now.

He's also the man who has all his guitars stacked in the way of falling curtains. And we all know how that worked out.

  8. with what matt said, he could just be not talking straight and then come up with something completely different and very bombastic!

Unless they make a slow album, we could have setlists of slow songs!

Oh I agree, which is why I'm not taking anything he says seriously. I'll wait and see what they come up with.

By the by, I am not interested in a classical album at all. I want old skool Muse, none of this pansy crap about love.

This tour seemed devoted to just new fans, didnt accommodate for the fans (bar the setlist polls which were a complete balls up) who helped them grow into the popular band they are, after all they help fund them when going to the gigs ;) I fear the next album tour will be the same.

    They took our jobs.

    I'm a real fan.

I doubt Matt's some kind of evil dictator of the setlists. If that is the case and they're not standing up to him, they need to man up. I know Matt writes the setlists but if they don't think he's doing a good job, they should write the setlists themselves.

Either Dom and Chris don't really give a shit and are just letting Matt take the lead, they are happy with the setlist, or they aren't a fan but can't be arsed arguing.

I don't actually know what they are thinking, obv, but I'm just going by interviews etc.

Oh, and I suggested to Chris he writes the sets from now on. :awesome:

  9. I think if Chris and Dom had a big problem with it, they would have put their foot down though.

Dom has passed comment on the set lists in the past and didn't seem 100% happy about it, and Chris looks bored as hell playing GL etc. Tbh maybe it's just easier to go with the flow in their opinion.

I still think Matt's the driving point for all this shit.

  10. Generally I take everything Matt says with a pinch of salt. He's known for talking shit and whilst he might not be lying about the direction the new album will take I won't pass much judgement until I hear it myself.

I'm not really holding high hopes for it and I agree with you that a lot of their older stuff is going to disappear, which has already happened and I think we are all starting to accept although we don't seem to want to take it without a fight. Not that anything we say is making much difference, they don't really listen to fans...hey ho.

Based on this tour and their attitude in general (and when I say 'their' I mean Matt pretty much) I am still a Muse fan but only a fan of who they used to be and the music they used to make. I said Wembley would be my last Muse gig, and right now I'm standing by my word. They fucked European fans over and they've done the same to American fans so I can't justify seeing them again right now.

I can see this thread turning into another rant about setlists and the usual arguments rearing their heads but I think you made a really good post.

Sad to consider how far Muse have came and just how much they threw by the wayside now they have made it there.

What do I think we can expect from future sets?

Exactly what we have now....only OoS and Showbiz tracks will be pretty much gone (bar PiB and FG) and I think most of Abso will be rare too. They obv have to make way for the new material but obv they're not planning to extend their sets.

    So, same shit, different shovel.

  11. This thread is like the best public-service anti-marijuana advert ever. Good thing salanderson didn't try a balloon fragment; he might've choked to death or succumbed to anaphylactic shock as a result of latex allergy. But seriously...

I think altrocker's definitely onto something, but after looking up a few terms in Wiki, my utterly WAG is that what the OPer is tasting is a trace of an alkali metal sulfide, potassium sulfide, left on the streamer by the combustion of potassium nitrate, aka saltpeter, a key component of gunpowder.

Wembley-goers, did any of you happen to notice any lilac-colored flames from the streamer cannons? (Lilac is the characteristic color of potassium combustion.)

It seems unlikely that the offending substance is potassium nitrate because, its likely combustion aside, that stuff is used and ingested in various ways, from curing meats to being a toothpaste additive. But the product of its combustion is readily soluble in water (or saliva), resulting in potassium bisulfide and potassium hydroxide. And that would probably taste very nasty indeed.

What troubles me about salanderson's story is the persistence of the taste; either this is unexpectedly serious (a chemical burn of some sort on his tongue maybe?) or a big wind-up. Another avenue to investigate: they say that most of our sense of taste is actually situated in our sinuses; maybe what's plaguing salanderson is some trace residue lodged in his sinus cavities, and maybe what he needs to be doing is not just swishing various substances in his mouth, but also irrigating his sinuses with a neti pot or inhaling saline water vapor or something. (But don't do anything without a doctor's instruction!)

I don't know what the OPer can do to neutralize those compounds, but he might want to mention all this to his doctors when he sees 'em.

You just sucked all the lulz out of this thread.

    Be gone with you!

  12. I found the barrier at Teignmouth to be a bit rough .

My arms were covered in bruises and security had to ask if I was ok because I was being pushed so hard I couldn't breath.

I just elbowed everyone and held on for life. I didn't arrive at 5:30am (first group there :awesome:) and leg it across the Den for some moron to drag me away.

America was a doss compared to other gigs lol noone laid a hand on me. Oo-er. That said, the crowd was pretty tame so I didn't expect any hassle.

  13. I agree. Whole load of them at Bloc Party, security were getting proper pissed off. Overheard one of the 'surfers' bragging in the toilets about how awesome it was when he 'nailed some dude right on the nose'. Judging by the noises coming from his cubicle he really was full of shit.

    Sounds it.

What makes me lol about dealing with crowdsurfers is when people say "Just duck and avoid them, then you'll be okay!" because tbh, people have paid good money to watch a show - they have not paid good money to duck and miss entire songs. Why should they miss songs they have paid to watch just because someone thinks it's fun to go sailing over their heads?

Exactly. I'm not going to shell out around £50 for a ticket to miss 2 or 3 songs because some wanker decides they fancy a bit of a surf across me. Not only that, if you are at the front chances are everyone is pretty tightly packed so sometimes you don't even have the room to move away or duck down.

  14. having two supporting bands before Muse comes on really, reaaaally helps. spending two hours in the pit watching two bands i didn't like was almost unbearable, but it bought me a lot of time to squeeze myself to the front where the barriers were.

gig was at 7pm, gates opened at 6pm, we lined up at 2pm. there were about 200 people lined up already while we were there. with enough determination you could squeeze yourself past a huge crowd :p

i'm only 5'2", so i had no choice, otherwise all i had to enjoy were the backs of everyone in front of me. i got stepped on, pushed, and cursed by lots of people, but once I got to the front on Matt's side, it was totally worth the pain, sweat, blood (hmm) and tears (nah, not really. although because it was my 1st gig i almost cried tears of joy). :p

You were pushing ahead of people that had queued for hours to get to the front, maybe thats why you were pushed and cursed at? You brought it on yourself tbh.

Once again, with regards to height - you do have a choice. This whole "staring at the back of people" story that people keep throwing out is rubbish. If you want to be able to see you get to the front of the queue ie: GETTING THERE EARLY.

I HATE the "olol its easy to push ahead, I'm short olol blah blah olololol" attitude some people have.

  15. Excuse me? I am trying to be polite about this situation as I see both sides. But there is no 'end of' here. Your word goes, does it? I completely respect the first come first served, as I stated in all my posts, but I do NOT appreciate being told to shut up.

Who told you to shut up?

  16. But I think that's half the point people are trying to make. . .why should they move? They have every right to be there.

And security do give a shit, or at least they do at the gigs I've queued for. They have to give a shit, it's part of their job.

Exactly. Even if someone does ask, why should I move?

I have every right to be at the front.

Security at London O2 were the best for that. . . "If I see you queue jumping, then you're going straight to the back!" Best queueing experience ever there, fo'srs.

I heard about that. Sounds good.
