  1. Map will be the newest song we can add to the "Rarities Muse won't play too much because shit songs get top priority"-list.

    Unfort.

I hate Map like I hate TIRO... Badly.

    Noooo.

It's far better than TIRO. I love the SHUGGA DUN DUN.

    Map > TIRO.

One of the few regulars that are still entertaining and good live.

TIRO needs to fuck off, though.

    +1.

    TIRO is boring as hell.

  2. Hipbones probably should have said "I hope Australia get the same setlists that the European and American tours got".

    In the interests of fairness.

    Maybe.

    Lol.

Yeah well i think it's likely that when muse tour next they'll play at least 18-20 songs per show. Another album and a different tour should result in longer shows and if they do then i'm sure they'll include a few rarities.

Hold on. Muse are on their FIFTH album. How many more do they need before they can say "yeah, lets extend the show now by a few more tracks...we've enough material!"? What a load of crap.

If they suck then why are you on the muse boards in the 1st place?

    That old chestnut!

  3. No one is directing hate towards Aussies themselves. Hoping that they get shit setlists is not hate towards them, it's hate towards the entire tour.

Yes, it is worth bitching about it. They do read these forums every once in a while, and they truly deserve every ounce of criticism they get for this tour.

Personally, I didn't mind the fact that the rarities in Asia were played, as much as I was pissed off that they stopped playing them after the Asian gigs. Fucking pointless to bring those songs (Dead Star and Sunburn, especially) back at all, if you ask me.

No one actually hates the Aussie fans. What we hate is the very high chance of you getting completely random rarities thrown at you for no fucking reason at all, while Europe and the U.S. got screwed every step of the way.

    Pretty much.

I don't hate Aussies themselves, I just don't think they deserve any better than the rest of us. But then again, we all deserve better than the setlists we have been givem. That of course is down to Muse, who clearly do not give a fuck about anywhere else. This tour has been a crock of shit.

  4. Maybe if they don't worry about the elaborate stage for next tour and just did something like their festival stage at every gig. That should decrease ticket prices for a start, and they can be more mobile on the stage so they don't have to worry about not being able to get the piano on or whatever the problem is. Muse are good enough live to not need an elaborate stage.

    This is true.

I'm getting sick of the squabbling, any more and I will start infracting.

    EL GLAMPOS.

    Pipe down.

  5. I think Liron is right with the paranoia thing. I recall discussing it in another thread. I think it's one of the reasons MK isn't played that often. He has fucked it up numerous times.

With regards to the future, I worry that Matt will have less confidence in himself - which is odd considering so many people idolise his guitar/piano skills. Lack of confidence is ultimately going to result in safe songs being played....which leads us back to the generic setlist.

I don't think anything will change.

We've been ranting about this for a year now...still no light at the end of the tunnel. I don't think they care.

  6. Oh and something else that'd make future tours/gigs improve would be a bloody long break between this current tour and the next, so the energy comes back.

    This I agree with.

I wasn't expecting to see them back until next year at the earliest.

    If only.

  7. Have you been on a tour the scale of Muse?

It's alot more difficult than organizing a gig down the pub

    Don't be so rude.

Seriously it's ridic that you came into this thread spouting ignorant opinions about what we were talking about. Esp when you had only read the tags.

I've been lurking on this thread and not posting much (I simply don't wanna get in the middle of all these heated opinions  I think some people are being too hard on Muse and some are being way too forgiving... I fall somewhere in between ), but I wanted to throw in a quick opinion (from personal experience) about one of the issues that keeps coming up.

The towers really aren't an excuse for not being able to play rarities. I was at the show in NJ when they played CE. All they did was just have shots of the guys up on the screens (instead of any fancy visuals) and they had yellow-y/green-y lights on the stage flashing during the heavier parts, and a soft blue light during the slow parts. Nothing fancy. Nice and simple.

They could do any song with that exact same setup. All they'd need is someone to push the right buttons to make the lights "go crazy" at the right time, or go back to being soft if the song has a soft section. Not difficult!

    *bows out of thread*

Excellent post. Welcome to the thread. :)

  8. I could give a haypenny jizz about the lights.

The fact I got to hear Bliss, MK Ultra, US, TAB, RBS, CE all on one night, having not heard any of them (Bar US) since 2007, will keep me going for awhile :yesey:

Hopes: The "show" is toned down and the flexibility can return, given that they'll have 6 albums to travel across.

Realisms: They'll extend the tour length to have more shows that'll allow them to cut down on the lights and focus on the music but still have the fans flocking for tickets... They'll play more oldies but people will still beef about setlists because they're not playing the songs THEY want to hear.

Have you actually read the thread? Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Oh, and they already have 5 albums to travel across, how can they not already be "flexible"?

  9. Yeah, technically Voodoo was the last date on the tour, but C'ville was the last day everyone was there exclusively to see them. *sigh* At least my seats for that show were insanely close to the stage, and Dom played his ass off.

I would say that was maybe the reason then. That and at festivals they know they have to up their games because they are going to be compared to the other acts that are there too. At Oxegen they really pulled it out of the bag because the line-up that weekend was amazing so they knew they couldn't make it a half arsed show.

  10. Because it's Muse, who clearly want to be the next U2. The production is the most important part of their performance these days, more important than music apparently.

U2 are shite. I see a trend picking up pace here...

That's the thing though, the setlist doesn't have to be the same and could have a bit more variation. I don't think going to multiple shows makes things boring. A boring show makes things boring. I follow other bands around multiple times and still have a great time because they shake things up.

Yes. Boring shows make things boring. I can predict every riff after each song, I can predict the order in which the set is going to go 90% of the time. I can predict when the show is going to end (ohai harmonica) - it's all shit.

Bands with a back catalogue like Muse can afford to shake it up, they just don't want to.

Whatever Muse do, some of you will always complain.

You should appreciate Muse a little bit more.

They are the best band/live band in the world, what more can you expect?

I know that some of you want more variation in the setlist.

But think.... If Muse want to gain more fans they can`t play only songs from Hullabaloo

and Showbiz. The Resistance Tour setlists include "The Hits" because most of the people on a Muse gigs aren`t "hardcore" fans as us. And they do play some more rare songs:

    - Neutron Star Collision

    - Unnatural Selection

    - MK Ultra

    - I Belong To You

    - Soldier`s Poem

    - Take A Bow

    - Butterflies & Hurricanes

    - Ruled By Secrecy

    - Dead Star

    - Can`t Take My Eyes Off You

    - Citizen Erased

    - Bliss

    - Cave

    - Sunburn

(Rare songs played during "The Resistance Tour")

MK, US, IBTY - all TR songs, therefore should not be rare at all.

Others, you need to be geographically planted in Asia or Turin.

Soldiers Poem is a waste of time and I was disgusted they brought it back for the stadiums, like...seriously, just...what? Easy way out once again.

Muse are not the best live band in the world anymore. Anyone who believes that they are in comparison to other bands/artists is a fool. I don't need to appreciate them, apparently doing that means we all get pissed over. Why would I appreciate a band who have an amazing back catalogue yet churn out 15 song sets for £40+? Pathetic.

  11. I don't think the amount Muse are charging Australia has as much to do with them playing or not playing epic setlists but more to do with making up for the cost of getting the production all the way over there and across the country for what amounts to literally a handful of shows.

For what it's worth, Muse is charging less than Tool for their Australian shows. I guess that should count for something?

Yes i hope everyone understands this, Muse arnt charing more because they think their rarer songs cost more or just for the sake of it. It IS because they are bringing the full production over and that costs a hell of alot.

I understand that it's going to cost lots of money to get the stage transported, but then again, why can't they just leave it at home like they did for the Asia gigs? I don't care what the reasoning is, they can't justify that amount of money. Why should you guise get ripped off at the expense of their ridiculous stage set up travelling over?

I also therefore think that the rarities are played to make it up to you guise for stealin' yo' monies'.

Muse can't save themselves in Australia, they will piss me off no matter what they do there. There are only two things they can do:

    1) Play generic setlists. This will only go to show how little they care and that they've ripped off Australian fans. Then again, I will be kinda happy if they do. But still, it will show how lazy they are and that they just favour their shit songs.

    Verdict: FAIL

    2) Play some actual rarities and fuck European/US fans again. The same special treatment they gave the Asian fans. I'm fully expecting this one. This will only show that this entire tour has been one big lie, and that they are very capable of playing older songs but won't unless you live really far away and pay stupid amounts of money for your tickets.

    Verdict: FAIL

    I'm going with #2. :awesome:

While i originally started this threat for people to speculate on the future of what Muse gigs may hold, I have noticed that this has becoming a bashing forum for the current tour. While I understand a lot of peoples complaints, and I also think there are some people that are overreacting. I have been to only two Muse gigs, one in MSG earlier this year, where we got the normal setlist plus mk ultra and unnatural selection, and then nassau collesium where they played the same setlist minus those two songs.

That being said, I think we have forgotten the true meaning of a Muse or any rock concert, is that you are supposed to HAVE FUN and ROCK OUT. I dont know about you guys but I had the time of my life at both of these shows, even at the second one when i was at the barrier and my sister fainted so i had to miss half the show, it was STILL AMAZING. I think everyone needs to relax with the bashing a bit because to be honest, regardless of what songs they're playing at the time, were always gonna go see another show, becuase they do play oldies (albiet rarely) and well always hope that the one time is our show. Theyre still Muse, they put on great shows, regardless of what songs are played or not played, that wont change

I told you it would turn into a thread full of ranting. :chuckle:

If I'm honest, you can't rock out at a Muse show anymore. I find it hard to rock out to GL, NSC, FG etc etc.

The thing is they aren't "Muse" we used to know...they're just their own tribute band.

  12. haha who knows we may not get anything special but yeah I <3 that muse <3's us... I dont want to get my hopes up but hopefully we do get something special with our tickets costing freaking 130

Each and considering the Aussie dollar is equal to the American almost it seems we are paying way to much. Hah anyways muse just need to give something new and different at each show... Everyone would be happy that way...maybe

To be honest you should not have to pay 130 if it means you get rare tracks. You guise are being ripped off and rare songs shouldn't even come into it.

Anyway, money or not, we all deserve the same treatment...only we don't get it.

That said, Irish dates seem to get far better set lists than UK dates. Maybe they just hate the UK? :awesome:
