that doesn't sound too bad actually Good job!

Isis are a very good live band and I'd disagree about the Russian circles vid. I found it pretty good and didn't get bored the music was good enough to hold my attention and they weren't just standing there. They did however seem a bit nervous? Maybe I'm picking up on things that weren't there.
They were pretty much standing at their pedalboards (obviously thats a given when switching effects)...the bassist has his own little headbanging thing going on, the drummer was good, and the guitarist seemed like he was really nervous and didn't really do anything impressive (his guitaring was quite good, but other than that...). Don't get me wrong, I listened to the whole song and enjoyed it, but I didn't watch the video while I was listening. It was also apparent that the majority of the audience seemed slightly bored/uninvolved, though some people seemed to want to be.
-
depends on other stuff obviously, but an instrumental band really has to command attention as alot of audience interaction is through talking with them:)
-
yeah, that vid definitely had no presence about it! We don't dive all over the stage, but I'd like to think we're more involving than that performance. Afterall, playing live isn't JUST about playing the music imho - it's about entertaining the audience, mainly with your material, but you can't just stand still really (unless you're really REALLY good )
-
Wow.
I don't get it? Twas a pretty cool piece, but they didn't really have much stage presence. We tried stuff like that and people just get bored. This stuff makes awesome album tracks, but sucks live imho...We do write quite similar things to that, and it's good to know that it gets some attention - we just haven't managed to grab enough attention yet

that's about as good as the time when you recorded yourself singing and put it on here
I think I missed that!
Er dude, that's not it! I'm not even sure we're talking about the same song

Ah dude, 2 days before I get back off my holiday! Pity...I would've liked to see you guys! You'll have to do loads of promoting to get a crowd in btw...who're you supporting? Or are you headlining?
-
saw these guys last weekend, amazing performance! i want that mp3 now
Think I have that kickin about somewhere! Drop me an email at donbenjy at gmail dot com if you're interested How are those guys now then? Getting big yet?
-
cool, we've had like 3 offers to record stuff free, so we'll mess around with stuff then!
-
oh that'd be Carousel then I think unless you meant the end of the cowboy one? but I'm not sure if the riff was left on!
-
OOOh, we have almost good quality recording on our myspace now! They're about as good as a live recording gets really!
I'd really appreciate any feedback (good or bad) on our stuff, especially as we don't believe any of our friends who tell us that we're good! Any comments by internet people are really valued, as you guys can say whatever you like about our music!
...Ignore my silly Aunt at the start of Rebel ( I DON'T look like john lennon!)
Apologys for the really crappy quiet guitar on Frostbite...it was all differnt guitars and levels for it
click my sig for the link!
Anyway, any critisisms will be taken on board!
-
hehe yep sorry, she's all mine! I didn't even ask her for the DMM...I just happened to be showing her the EHX website & mentioning that I wanted one
it took me ages to get them to start random noisemaking though! the song was supposed to only end with some gentle dmm oscillatory antics, but blew up into some squeally groove with distorted vox
-
yeah, my girlfriend is like an uber graphics student so she can sort out our publicity just gotta make sure our music stands up to the flyer now Speaking of that, I finally managed to get us into a tangled web of noise at the end of the set :D warbling into a distorted 15w practice amp

Hey, would people check out my bands old myspace in my sig? We're called IV now, but the songs are the same...really want feedback from people who can actually say if we suck, cos everyone we've asked seems to think we're good and I want some rel musicians who arn't friends of mine to comment on our stuff...the recordings are REALLY bad quality from our drummers mp3 player, but considering its on that they're not too shabby. No lyrics on there cos our singer is lazy really.
Carousel is very badly played cos it was the first run through of the song we did after writing it in the same hour
water is better played, but still not good quality either.
right angled jack and the sparklesharks is good up to the break, but instead of that crappy funk type riff, its gone just to chords so try not ro listen to the whole versions of them!
Anyway, seriously...if we suck, please tell us cos we havn't had any real critisicms yet oh yeah, those recordings are all from like september and before, so we've advanced abit since then! new recordings soon
cheers

dwydave: yeah scratched & scorned is the best I think! love the intro & random probe bits you did!
Yellowsphere: top notch music dude! F for delay is very Gilmourish if you're looking for constructive critisisms, vocals are slightly emo/americanified, and definately the weakest point. but only cos the music is so good.
You guys mind checking out my band?
it's in my sig (although we've changed our name to I.V. now, but myspace is being a wank and we can't log into the new one to upload songs.) No vocals on these recordings as it's an old site...Carousel is probably the best song, although that recording was the first time we playd it after it was written and we were all reading notes so I apologise for the mistakes Oh and if you imagine a kick ass trombone solo in the heavier bit of that, it helps too...
Right angled jack and the sparklesharks was the first song we wrote, and it's lost all its funk overtones now for more cowboy/riding music just imagine "galloping" style chords from the guitar instead of whatever crap I'm playing there! p.s. it's the top one! don't feel you need to listen to the appalling bottom one!!!
PLEASE can someone give us some kinda constructive critisism? Everyone we asked after our first gig just said stuff like "awesome." There's nothing like the anonyminity of the internet for honesty though, so be as harsh as you like
cheers!

what knobs? to my knowledge, there arn't any! just the actual pad, and the hold button :S
-
sorry man! Spread the love i'll argue if you disagree with me on something?!
-
the forum is NOT for questions like "where's the FAQ page?" or "pop tarts of marshall" Im fed up of stupid questions, and I'm sorry if it seems harsh when you do ask senisible questions, but you're just gonna have to redeem yourself cos most people here are pissed off. That's the end of this discussion now, I'm not gonna get into some internet arguement with an american kid, and if you make some silly comeback, I'm gonna ignore it so I wouldn't bother.
-
are you really serious?! I suggest you actually READ about all this gear people talk about, rather than google image searching something and asknig stupid questions about how they work. The line6 filter pro or whatever it is, is a digital modelling device, and they all work in the same way: stored patches that you pre-program in...so you set all the parameters one after another for the seek wah. And no, modellings is nowhere near as goodas the an analogue pedal. now PLEASE stop asking stupid questions that are easily answerable elsewhere if you did a little research into it before posting!
-
how much was it?
any luck trying to buy an M1D1 of hugh yet? I already have one in silver and one in red but i'm thinking about selling the red one cos it's just lying in the corner gathering dust
-
wtf? He mimed on the recording also? Whether its a back track or not, he would have played it at some time or other, and there's usually an artificiality (is that even a word?) to processed sounds
-
ok, my band, Fate of the Molymods (yeh, i know ) now actually have a myspace and one session recording of our new song Right Angled Jack and the Sparklesharks.
http://www.myspace.com/molymods
Would appreciate any feedback! It's the first time we've played it together so there hasn't been too much development of the original riffiness! The western style bit at the start was taken from a stopmotion lego western me and the bassist made a while back, hence the lego gif.
No lyrics written yet, as our singer has been awol for the last 2 practices, and we're just wank at it really
Oh and i know it says electronica, but we havn't got around to working out synthy stuff yet for this one.
i apologise for the poor recording quality of the drummer's Creative somethingorother, but i have tried to eq it abit and got rid of as much clipping as possible!

if/when I find a full copy of Max/MSP for OS X I'll try and do a "proper" version of it Anyone know what the link is to the article with the interview?
