From School Library Journal These two books are part of a four-volume set on British poetry from its beginnings to the present. Each includes an introduction that provides information on using the book and an overview essay on the subject of the volume. Both volumes include comprehensive indexes with cross-references and are arranged alphabetically. Presenting approximately 600 entries, Before 1600 features subjects that have been included in major anthologies texts used in studying early British poetry.
