  1. .That being said, I don't know if Pressure has the potential as being as big of a sports song as Uprising.

I only say that because they'll be able to trot it out anytime there is a "pressure" situation, so basically any game played. Close game in hockey, pitching changes in baseball etc.

I remember Washington Capitals used to come onto the ice 10-15 years ago to Hysteria.

Anaheim Ducks and Dallas Stars have also featured a lot of their music over the years.

Psycho (surprisingly w/o vocals:LOL:) has been staple over past few years and used to hear MK Ultra once in a while but don't remember what stadium(s) off hand.

  2. Noticed two instances of the song Pressure being featured last night. First ESPN used it as an outro from its boxing broadcast, and also, it was played in arena between plays in Vancouver Canucks game. Not bad for being a week old but I expect it to be as big or bigger than Uprising throughout stadiums and arenas across North America.

  3. If I never have to click on a traffic light or fire hydrant ever again, it won't be a moment too soon.

Followed presale a bit and lower bowl disappeared after about 10 minutes. They showed available sections colored in after that...but you couldn't actually get seats in them.

Worst thing is that all the best seats will be available a week or two before the show because for whatever reason some people don't think that a poster and lunch pail is worth an extra $250 to the cost of your ticket.

  4. Feel sorry for those who didn't get tix from various presales.

Tickets "officially" go on sale today at noon, but looks like slim pickings from seat map.

    Floor: sold-out

    Reds (lower bowl): sold out

    Mezzanine: sold out

Lower portion of upper deck: sold out

Only thing left is upper-upper deck where you're closer to shaking hands with Jesus than with band.

Predictable since band usually plays 2 nights in Montreal (still might) and about a third of arena is blocked off behind stage

EDIT: Not as bad as I thought, moment presale started it showed seats in all sections; first offering was the far end directly facing the stage but listed as "partially obstructed view" presumably because you're behind sound board.

2nd time was in far corner up high in lower bowl. Given this, happier with my original purchase

  5. Yet another presale, this time via Spotify..

Checked this out this morning just for giggles and only thing available in Montreal was upper deck.

Seems a huge chunk of arena, at least 4 of what would be considered prime sections are handed over to VIP/GOLD/PREMIUM/DIAMOND/PLATINUM/PLUTONIUM seats.

One package gets you a poster and lunchbox for a mere $258 extra

Best thing to do although it takes nerve of steel is wait closer to show when these tix get released into general ticket pool.

  6. MSG looks to be available April 8-9 and 11-12.

Barclays in Brooklyn is available for all dates except April 10, which they'll be in Boston then anyway.

I suppose they could do Detroit, Barclays, then Philly, MSG, and Boston if they wanted to fill the holes the way they are. But Chicago's got to be in there somewhere, too so I dunno. United Center isn't available in that time frame, but Allstate is on April 5.. so maybe Detroit 4/4, Chicago 4/5, Philly 4/7, MSG/Brooklyn 4/8 or 9, Boston 4/10, back to MSG/Brooklyn 4/11 or 12.

One thing to consider is that in every instance on North American arena leg is that they never play back-to-back nights with exception of Montreal-Quebec City (about 2 hours apart). By stage diagram alone I imagine a pretty complex set that will take some time to prepare. Given teardown, travel time and set-up in next city, I imagine them not wanting to hit a place like Manhattan without an off-day in between.

  7. Not sure how I feel about this, think i'd rather see 1 or 2 songs played in their entirety than a Stars on 45** treatment of some of their past songs.

But 15 minutes is a long time so you could put a lot of riffs, intros, outros and jams in there.

I would say they do older stuff that they have played a lot in the past but might not have time in a set as more and more new material enters.

Think it might include songs such as Bliss, Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Butterflies & Hurricanes and Apocalypse Please. But even with 5 songs, that's still 3 minutes per each one...maybe something like Munich Jam will be thrown into the middle.

My hope is that it will be more of an improvised jam as opposed to well-rehearsed sound-the-same in every city set piece.

**Doubt anyone under 50 will understand Stars on 45 reference w/o Google...you don't know how lucky you are to have escaped this sad time in music history.

  8. The way I figure things, the band usually plays about 6 songs from the new album anytime they tour. If that holds, I figure Propaganda, Pressure, Thought Contagion, Something Human (which might take place of Mercy as first encore) and The Void (which might take place of Globalist as show closer).

Wild card for me is Dig Down which will be almost 2 years old when they hit the road and used as opener for summer festival tour. Probably will play it, but listening to new album I think, 'what's this doing here' each time it comes on, thinking it is from Drones.

Anyway, after Iheart show which should act as a sneak preview of what songs will be featured, I will be in operation shut-down in my best effort to be surprised as far as set-lists and stage set-up.

  9. I had no problem with song selection...figured it would be next single released...figured it was going to be this or Propaganda.

Loved the horns..be nice if they were on the tour but wonder how many songs they could actually be on.

As far as song set list go...been wondering what gets played off new album and what gets dropped from Drones.

If they don't play 'Get up and fight' I'll be more than happy

  10. From the Montreal promoter's web-site :

"Every ticket purchased online for Muse includes your choice of a CD or digital copy of the new album, Simulation Theory, released on 11/9/2018. You’ll receive instructions via email on how to redeem your album after ticket purchase."

Typically takes 1 to 2 weeks after you've purchased your ticket for that e-mail to arrive

    Luc

Did not see that but went back to Evenko page and sure enough...

So I buy a physical copy of CD (which I don't do anymore and still haven't gotten in the mail yet) to get early access to tix that the first 99 tries got me obstructed view. But now that I am successful I'm going to get a free CD of what they forced me to buy? Yeesh.

  11. First 112 times trying to get tix in presale got me tix right on side of stage that were listed as obstructed view. Finally got something "okay", about 12 rows up at far end on the side. Not very happy but it is what it is...wouldn't have expected obstructed view seats as prime offering for the first of presales.

That being said, got what was listed as obstructed view for Depeche Mode a couple of years ago and they couldn't have been better, so sometimes it is luck of the draw and the eventual stage set-up.

  12.

Oh, one more thing: Matt's piano was actually out on stage at the start when they were setting up for Muse, but then the crew brought out the flight case and packed it up. Not really sure what was up with that. Were they originally thinking about playing something in the piano? Or was it just there for soundcheck? I got briefly excited seeing it there, but when they packed it up it did immediately kill the chance of a few more interesting songs....

I saw the flight case roll across the stage before the show and then roll back about 20 minutes later...didn't even dawn on me that it was for a piano. I just scanned the stage, didn't see one, and figured that was that.

  13. I've been on operation shutdown since I bought tickets for NYC and Ottawa, not wanting to know set-lists, stage set-up or anything else. Since the Drones tour and as much as I have enjoyed the major tours, I really wanted to see the band on a no-frills stage with 2 mics and just have them bring it and rip thru their set

An outdoor festival I figured would be a basically a greatest hits shortened set with little or no frills as far as staging goes coupled with being uncomfortable and tough to see.

Surprises: Stage set-up was awesome, I had seen seen a couple of pics and just figured it was a simple video wall but when they moved and the band appeared from behind them to start the show, it was pretty neat.

Set-list was really good in my opinion. I'm not one to OD on pills because they didn't play a Hullabaloo b-side I've based my existence on so the inclusion of Stockholm, PIB and Time is Running Out were quite welcome after not hearing them for a while. Being a festival and tight time restrictions, they actually played longer and fit in more songs than I was expecting.

I got the rail, wasn't expecting it, hadn't planned on it, but we got their about 1/2 hour before gates opened and that proved to be good enough. Bass was loud enough to move a small cruise ship and not always pleasant, but wouldn't have changed anything. Kids beside me got Chris's harmonica; they deserved it, had a handmade sign, got in line at 10am, I was happy for them. Everybody around me on the day caught something from some band...I gotta work on my catching abilities.

Matt destroyed an amp with his guitar. I was happy when I finally saw him trash a guitar on last tour, this was a new wrinkle.

Great weather. Friday got rained out after 2 songs by headliner Live...go figure, Lightening was Crashing. It rained yesterday, it's raining this morning..it's rained every &*%ing day this summer. Awesome day.

Morgan seemed to have increased role, maybe because he was out of his hole from Drones tour but some with a guitar more than ever before, even when Matt was playing.

Bit of a new intro for Knights, went from Harmonica to heavy guitar/drum jam then back to Harmonica.

Disappointment: Matt leaving stage for New Kinda Kick. Really didn't understand this. But it did give me time to reminisce about The Cramps...great band, got to see them a bunch back in the day.

Anyway...off to NYC, looking forward to it.

  14. Got a feeling we might get Exo in full once in 2019 or 2020, for 10 years since TR. Surprised you'd be so keen on LS tho, it was better than on-record but still pretty meh live imo.

    .

Loved it live and I really thought it would be a staple in their live shows for a while. Gives Matt a chance to rest a bit and nicely changes things up. Thought it would be their 'Guns of Brixton' where the Clash let Paul do his thing for one song. Was surprised when it didn't survive the cut after T2L tour.

  15. Ottawa Bluesfest is announcing their lineup next week.

They share A LOT of headliners with Festival D'ete in Quebec which Muse are also headlining.

Muse has NOT played in Ottawa since 2004, and the gap in their tour dates indicate this is very possible.

I don't put much hope into that; but would be there for sure if it happened. The one I'm looking at is the first weekend of August; Both Lollapalooza in Chicago and Osheaga in Montreal are going on at the same time (dumb) and I don't think either has announced any lineups. I know Osheaga likes to make their own lineup announcements and were quite upset when Radiohead scooped them last year. Being in western PA on August 1st would put them right in line to play palooza though.

  16. Tour kinda excites me as this is the first one I've seen that isn't in support of product. It's been two years since Drones so setlist potential is wide open. I honestly don't know what to expect and plan on keeping it that way; come May I will go into shutdown mode and hope to block any and all news of setlists, stage set-ups, potential new songs and just sit back and enjoy what they bring to the table without any preconceived knowledge or expectations.

  17. I spoke to live nation yesterday to find out about both of those things. It is the top diagram. and I was told PIT1 and PIT2 are all the same, just split up for counting purposes.

Good to know...I got tix in section H and was kinda disappointed at the time....but if they're yanking out all those seats, I'm ok with it. Traveling in and never been there before, but kinda surprised that's the case, pictures and diagrams I've looked at just figured those front sections were anchored in and couldn't be moved.

  18. That sucks..

I will probably end up trying again in the public sale...if nothing again, I will grab GA tickets from Stubhub. At that point I am paying VIP prices and might have to do that...

Live Nation does their presale tomorrow but I'm not sure if Toronto would be included in that. I "think" (really faulty memory) I used them for Quebec City the last time when I couldn't get others to work.

  19. Glad you made it back, hope weather didn’t make journey too tough on the trip. Was wondering if anybody was going to post anything on the show. Hope you don’t mind, just going to piggyback on your comments with a few thoughts of my own, keeping te same format. Cheers.

    The Venue

My seats were very close to yours, one section over and 3 rows up. It is indeed a nice venue. Not as steep as most arenas and like the way you exit straight onto the concourse as opposed to go thru tunnel…also like the way they draw curtains to black out lights from concession stands. Even the upper deck seemed nice, you can barely see it in Montreal but here it seemed not too bad up there with great site lines, good to know if they get their NHL team.

    X Ambassadors

Like you, not a big fan, but they were a lot better than they were in Montreal. Sound was better and crowd more into it. For life of me, don’t know why if you get a reaction from a crowd, you don’t try to encourage it more. When people started turning on their phones, encourage everybody to do it…engage the crowd, demand EVEYONE turn on their phones!! Allons-y Quebec! Anyway, was dreading their set, but was much more tolerable 2nd time round.

    The Show: Stage/Lights

I saw Montreal show and was about 5 rows up, felt I could lean over and high five Matt. Here I was much further up but you got a better visual perspective of the show…the screens, the drones, the big picture.

We sat on opposite side of arena as Montreal and there is very little to choose from. On one side you get Matt for Handler, this time got Chris, but other than that they didn’t discriminate one side in favour of the other.

    The Show: The Drones

Vantage point seemed better than Montreal to really appreciate Drones plus they seemed to be working better. Montreal they seemed to be doing their best just to stay afloat and some were recalled. Here they seemed more sinister, venturing out then aligning themselves in a perfect line. Reaper drone did 1-1/2 laps in Quebec, at pretty fast pace, only lasted a lap in Montreal.

    The Show: Setlist and Performance

I got my setlist in Montreal. Bliss, Map, and Apocalypse Please so I was content with anything they were going to offer up. There is only one piano song other than Gloabalist and AP was replaced by United States/Eurasia which crowd around me really got off on. I was noticing radio in Quebec seems to really like over the top dramatic songs to point of ridiculous and this entered that vein. Given the choice, I’d prefer AP, but since I’d seen it 3 nights previous, I quite liked this.

One thing that shocked me was no Undisclosed Desires. Only because it is performed with Dom coming out from behind his kit and performing on runway standing up with electronic drum. Figured this would be one element of show that would be constant. And while not my favourite, was strong performance in Montreal.

Another add was Resistance. GF loved it as did most of the crowd. I believe Quebec is a more ‘hits’ driven crowd and loved hearing this.

No problem hearing Reapers again. My fear was same as yours, Reapers is such a great live song and sorry, really don’t like Revolt. Not against them playing it, but not at expense of Reapers. That being said, surprise they’re not pushing Revolt more as it was their last single.

And with Reapers finally saw Matt trash a guitar. Kicked it from center-stage all the way up the ramp to his outpost. Once he got back, started tossing it up in the air and having it crash down at center stage. First throw I was shocked at how he didn’t take out any drums and second toss with Dom getting up and out of the way, I thought he killed Morgan. It landed beside him but from my angle and lighting I had thought it came really close. There’s a backstage conversation I’d love to hear .

    The Show: Crowd

Thought they were really good, better than Montreal for the most part although it seemed I was in the family zone for this one. Had a 10 year-old next to me and a family of four in front, all decked out with tour t-shirts, drinking beers, pop, candy, chocolate bars…I thought movies for the family were expensive…this brings it to a new level. And this is just the old fart coming out of me, but no 12 year-old daughter of mine would EVER have a F-ing Psych t-shirt.

Anyway, thought the crowd was good until after Uprising, and just before and during Globalist. People had seen enough and were streaming up the aisle like somebody scored an empty net goal at a hockey game. I was shocked, at first I thought, many were using slow song for a bathroom break as I didn’t notice many coats. But didn’t notice any going back down. THESE were the people who beat me out during fan presale and had me online for over an hour the next day?

If I wasn’t in such bewilderment, I would have really been pissed off.

    Overall Thoughts

Was fun seeing same show a few nights apart. I thought Matt was talking and engaging a little more each time I’ve seen him…hardly a word for both shows this time round. Psycho I would them to semi-retire after this tour, just trot it out unexpectantly from time to time. Really enjoyed the in-the round experience and have no complaints, but would like the next tour to be stripped down straight on aural assault marathon. It was almost weird seeing the 3 standing together this time round instead of manning separate stations. Sad that the whole thing came and went so quickly…who knows how long till they’re back.
