I wonder how native speakers of English deal with the lyrics sometimes. As a non-native speaker I find it easy to just ignore how bad certain lines sound (not the Rio one though), so maybe that makes Muse more easily enjoyable for us.
English isn't my native language and it was still impossible for me to deal with the lyrics on Drones.

Wow, what a subtle intro cut!

"Paradise comes at a price that I'm not prepared to pay" was always really powerful to me, being born into a very strict christian family.

People need to stop acting like Download is Wacken Open Air. People's heads aren't going to explode when they play a softer song. I've seen acts like Slash play ballads on Download (from his solo material, not from GNR), and the crowd responded really well to it.
I think a lot of people there will be more disappointed if they don't play the more known singles.
-
It's more difficult to notice poor lyrics in a second language. If anything having very obvious lyrics help as it's more likely to be words/expressions that are direct and familiar.
English isn't my first language and I still can't get over the lyrics on this album. Granted, my first language is Dutch, which is a Germanic language, so I can't speak for people who speak a Latin language.

Two days later and I have no desire to listen to this album again. It feels like a task.
Such a shame, because I wanted to like this album.
-
I really have to do an effort not to listen to the lyrics to enjoy some of these songs..

The guitar solo on Aftermath sounds so lame. Wish he'd just played single notes with a bit more sustain.
-
The only thing that could've made the ending cheesier was an uplifting modulation.
-
I don't think the piano part in The Globalist is too long. It really builds towards the end, and gets big in a way that Explorers never did.
Sucks that the rock part was cut so short though.
-
Revolt makes me want to go catch some waves.
-
The ending of Aftermath is pretty cheesy, but at least there isn't a modulation.
-
I actually like Devolt on my third listen.
-
The rock part in the Globalist should've gone on a lot longer. It was just getting good and then they stopped. I don't really dislike the outro. I think it's a lot more intense than Explorers and bombastic, but it's a wasted opportunity indeed.
I'm loving Drones (the song). It's fucking weird, lol.

Oh wow, Aftermath is absolutely beautiful. I get the Dire Straits/U2's One comparison.
-
The first part of the chorus of Revolt is really disappointing.. For the rest it's really good. Love the bridge and the solo.
-
Haha, I laughed out loud when Revolt started. Didn't see that one coming at all. I like the verses. Not sure how I feel about the chorus yet.

I think I want The Globalist to be like maybe 2-3 minutes that Morricone intro, then 5-6 minutes of rock and ending with 2 minutes of piano. I will be pretty pleased with it. What about you guys?
I think there will probably be less rock and more piano.

To be fair, Hyper Chondriac Music reminds me of Wicked Game as well, so that's not a bad thing.
-
Big Freeze would've been 10 times better if it didn't have the silly backings. That's the only thing I find annoying about the song. I love the pre-chorus, chorus and the bridge.

And the lyrics..

"monstrously stacked vocals"
Uh-oh..

The board's newest member is also called Alexander DeLarge....... Hmm.....
Somebody's ready for some trolling.

I don't think it's that bad, and I really disliked Dig Down and most of Drones.
The production is the worst part of it. I'm hoping the official audio will be better.
