  1. Seriously. It's like Tom Morello and Jimi Hendrix had a baby, but that baby was also a unicorn made of rainbows and pure RAWKKK.

    That is genius.

Also, Hyper Music is probably in my top 5 Muse songs, if not higher (along with Chrondiac too, mainly for the solo). So much ENERGY!!!! Live it's incredible.

This is now your favourite muse live performance, ever.

  2. Uprising live is often underated, because it's not that great an album track.

Live though, unbelievable. The outro is amazing, such a headbangfest.

The best performance IMHO was Glasto '10 (of the proshots I've seen), mainly because he didn't use the double neck. Soundwise, I like the double neck, the effects he can make while not playing. Sounds great. But it gives him very little freedom of movement in the solo and outro, so using the Mirror at Glasto was epic. KNEE SLIDES!!!!!!!

  3. For me, recently, it's been

    - Ruled By Secrecy

    - Fury (never really listened before, but fell in love with the lyrics)

    - The Small Print (fell in love with Chris' vocals on BDO 2004

Completely yes to all of them.

Listen to the Earls Court 04 TSP. It has Chris vocals, but so much energy, Matt's vocals are insane, he's basically just screaming them. And a lot of riffage. Awesome.

Everyone bow the fuck down to the sheer awesomeness of this. Distorted vocals, crazy playing.

  4. But I think the most awesome thing they could do is combine the drum and bass jam and the kaoss jam, that would be awesome.

    YES PLEASE.

Need moar drum and bass jams. MK, Helsinki are boring. Osaka needs back (and those three actually rotated gig by gig). And one or two new ones.

But seriously, Kaoss pad- drums come in - drums stop - tss tss tss tss DAH DAH DAH* with kaoss pad still going.

*http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJv6jsBuf8 by my awesome tss DAH impressions, thats what I meant.

  5. The riffing has gotten to the point where, as hipbones said, it's just really fucking lame. I can pretty much nail every single riff on the setlist depending on the songs they play at gigs. "Oh, Map of the Problematique tonight. Followed by some Who Knows Who riffing."

    The way I see it, this is what they need to improve on;

    * LEAVE THE FUCKING RIFFING ALONE IF YOU CAN'T BE SPONTANEOUS ABOUT IT OR AT LEAST CHANGE THE RIFFS EVERY NOW AND THEN

    * Longer setlists

    * Varied setlists. Playing the same shit setlist everywhere (except... well you know) and then making an effort for one night (Wembley second night) doesn't cut it.

    * NO SPECIAL TREATMENT! YOUR HARDCORE FANS AREN'T SITUATED EXCLUSIVELY IN ASIA AND/OR AUSTRALIA

    * On the off-chance freak accidents where they do play older songs, they should fucking keep playing them. Don't play them just once or twice (I'm looking at you Dead Star) and then stop. Or even better, do the same with Feeling Good and Guiding Light. Just play them once or twice and then don't play them for the rest of the tour.

    * Stop with the bullshit excuses. If you lazy assholes spent half as much time rehearsing older songs and planning your setlists as you spent on making excuses for being lazy, then we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.

    * New Born. Piano. Faster. Or just replace it with Unnatural Selection and be done with it.

    * Get rid of the fancy lights, they're only distracting, both for the band and the fans. I'm pretty sure the seizures that Matt gets from these lights is what's making him write shit songs.

    * Stop with the harmonica. Put Knights of Cydonia somewhere else in the setlist or just drop it entirely. I don't care, just stop closing with it all the time.

    * Setlist polls. Don't ever do this again unless you guys are going to take it seriously.

    * Stop playing Feeling Good. There was a time when it was sorta funny to bash it all the time, but seriously boys, just stop playing it already.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'll probably think of it later.

    Ouch.

Also, they did play Knights third at a gig in America recently. First time since release it hasn't open or closed. It was a wierd set, open with no WATU, just straight into Exogenesis Part 1. Knights was third, first time they didn't play Unnatural Selection on the Arena Tour, close with TaB, also first time for arenas.

And then it went back to normal the next gig. Its as anticlimactic as the NSC release.

Even if they only did this level of variation, and a few more songs rehearsed and in their arsenal, their live shows could be good again.

  6. I'm bored of them playing the same riffs over and over and over. Why not play their own sodding riffs or outros at the ends of songs? I remember the time Micro Cuts was played as the outro to Dead Star in Japan...like, why can't they be that spontaneous all the time?

I agree, take away the riffs and jams and you'd lose half an hour easy.

    Dee3Dee, get here now.

And that's Dead Cuts btw- they basically play this outro whenever they play it now, it's not just every now and again (actually, they never play the song anyway). The outros have become ridiculously unoriginal.

I remember hearing a live Uno from back in 2001, and they used a Fury outro. That's what it should be about- the day Muse play an outro riff Musewiki doesn't know, they'll have succeeded.

    Need moar outro.

At least next tour we'll get new outros. Of course, they'll all be worn out after 3 gigs, but hey.

  7. I think that people don't know appreciate Falling Down, Escape, Thoughts Of a Dying Atheist, Hoodoo..

why Dead Star, Futurism, Shrinking Universe, Crying Shame, Yes Please, Forced In, Recess, Map Of Your Head are not put on official albums?

and City Of Delusion.. awesome thing! but unfortunately not played on gigs..

    +97650537423

You basically just defined this topic.

Apart from Recess, which I can't stand.

  8. I've been thinking about Bliss. It's my (and many others) favourite song ever, and, as I didn't get tickets for the Saturday Wembley gig, I didn't get to see it. They've been playing it less and less lately, and by the time their next album (if they do one) comes out and they go on tour, will they phase it out altogether?

I'm just worried that I'll never get to see my favourite song live. It looks bloody immense. Although, sometime ago, Matt said that the next album would be 'back to their roots' (not sure of the actual quote), so, maybe there is hope? I don't know. I mean, this forum is full of nutcases who want Escape live :p, and that'll probably never happen given the nature of this tour (and, by continuation, the next).:(

Just a bit of a worrisome rant for me. Feel free to troll me, if you want.

EDIT: Oh bollocks, put this in Gigs and Tours section . Maybe the Songs and Releases section would be more appropriate. Feel free to get rid of this is you feel this is the case.

Oo rant support. Love this job.

I love Bliss too, haven't seen it live (along with many things)

I've been waiting a while to say this bit.

Basically, during BH&R tour, all 4 albums were very much alive, with regulars and rarities from all the albums (Muscle Museum, Sunburn, Showbiz, Unintended maybe more).

But, during this tour, Showbiz has basically vanished. Cave and Unintended are the only ones left, and none of them are complete regulars. There are no rarities from this album.

Showbiz as an album died during this tour. And what I'm worrying, is that with a new album, the next oldest album will die. This is of course, the much loved Origin Of Symmetry.

It's alive now- New Born and Plug In Baby are regulars, with Citizen Erased and Bliss as rarities IIRC. I fear that come the next tour, these may all die.

    Scary.

  9. Has anyone seen / heard the one time they played it on the Absolution tour? I'd love to hear that one

Did they play it? *checks Musewiki*

Right. Abso was released on the 21st September 2003. The last performance of Hyper Music was the Cologne gig on the 7th September, but it contained loads of Abso tracks, basically the whole gig was Abso (Hysteria, Butterflies & Hurricanes, Sing For Absolution, Blackout, Time Is Running Out, Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist, Stockholm Syndrome, The Small Print). An interview with Dom said it was a gig on a small tour to promo the new album.

So technically, it hasn't been played on the Absolution tour itself.

  10. Dunno how many times this video's been posted, but this is their best Hyper Music performance, and maybe one of their best performances in general. Fucking screaming and SS outro, spaffffff.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NvXfrcQ0J4

Hyper Music is one of my favourite songs. Much like City Of Delusion, both of which were played on only it's first tour. Disappointing.

But playing Hyper Music, Chris just looks completely badass, much more so than any other song.

  11. This isn't Banter, is it?:erm: It's Other Muse topics. :eyebrows: And everyone in here is lovely and welcoming. :awesome:

Any Matt picture is welcome. :stongue:

The second one especially because we all like the lungeeeee ;)

WOOPS. PMT... Banter... difference... I need to do my homework. Ah well, here seems nice. I'm not sure I have the confidence yet to delve into Banter.

He is completely eyeing up the amp here. Ready for rape.

  12. *runs into banter*

    Good evening.

*runs out of banter for fear of being beaten with a stick*

Nah not really... but what goes on here? Do you want a pornogenic pic of Matt causing specified fans to pass out by pointing THE FINGER at them?

ITS SUPERMATT!!!1!11!!one! doing one of his epic knee slides, love them :awesome:

  13. City of Delusion - should bring it back, would fit in quite well with the paranoia of the Resistance.

I find CoD massively underrated, it's one of my favourite Muse songs and yet it's never talked about, and was never played much. They have to bring it back.

Anyway, I've discovered TSP (much like everyone else, esp the Earls Court 04 one), Debase Masons Grog, and Dead Star.

Most of the time it works like, if I learn a song on guitar or piano, I love it again.

  14. Resistance. I was okay with the album, then I heard it live when they came here and the crowd singing along to "could be wrong" was just amazing so I was on a Resistance streak.. then I got tired of it again.

I listened to the Glastonbury version with the Double Neck intro and it sounds unbelievable! Great song.

I'm actually a little surprised they haven't played Invincible since Matt got this guitar

I love Resistance too, live with the intro it's just so powerful.

I also would be suprised to see Invincible on the next tour, though I reckon he'll use a fair few of his new guitars in the studio (I'm hoping not the Keytarcaster though- that would mean an album of UD and cheese)

I've recently rediscovered Hoodoo. So powerful, especially live on the piano. It's amazingly beautiful, by far one of the pinnacles of Matt's song writing career.
