My teacher is John Paul Jones. I learn a lot about how the bass should be played, just not how to play the bass -
I find that riff really difficult for my right hand, I still haven't sorted proper picking technique, I use far too many downstrokes which slows me down loads, especially cause I just play blues improve 70% of the time...

I play it starting on a C major in both hands, with a random rhythm, and then raise the highest note on the chord (the G) to a semitone above, G#. Return back to G, do that a few times, then raise both the G and E (to an F), return it, back to that, and then raise the bottom note © a semitone. The chord has changed to a C# major. Sounds confusing! Repeat this on chords getting higher and higher, I go to Eb, it may be different. I play it in different keys to jazz it up too. In the actual TaB, I believe (?) the first chord is D. so- C--C--C--C--C---C--C--C---C# E--E---E--E--E--F---E---F--F Continue G--G#-G--G#-G--G#-G--G#-G#

That is genius. Also, Hyper Music is probably in my top 5 Muse songs, if not higher (along with Chrondiac too, mainly for the solo). So much ENERGY!!!! Live it's incredible. This is now your favourite muse live performance, ever.

What, live they do/did live? (Glastonbury 04 mainly) Whenever I play it, I do that solo outro, and the live solo, which is insane too. Amazing song; one of their best, especially live

Uprising live is often underated, because it's not that great an album track. Live though, unbelievable. The outro is amazing, such a headbangfest. The best performance IMHO was Glasto '10 (of the proshots I've seen), mainly because he didn't use the double neck. Soundwise, I like the double neck, the effects he can make while not playing. Sounds great. But it gives him very little freedom of movement in the solo and outro, so using the Mirror at Glasto was epic. KNEE SLIDES!!!!!!! -
Completely yes to all of them. Listen to the Earls Court 04 TSP. It has Chris vocals, but so much energy, Matt's vocals are insane, he's basically just screaming them. And a lot of riffage. Awesome. Everyone bow the fuck down to the sheer awesomeness of this. Distorted vocals, crazy playing.
