Unreal gig tonight. The crowd were amazing and the set was special. I feel like muse always make an effort for the scottish crowds in terms of their set. We got the bagpipe jam, assassin debut during the bh&r tour and ruled by secrecy on the t2l tour. Not to boast but in the 7 gigs ive been to ive seen:

I think you were missing a genre or two. I'm not sure what tho
. Like I belong to you for example it made me think of the song and think wtf actually is this I think muse should be a genre in itself. When a band creates music that can't really be identified they should just say yeah its muse.
I would say as a band they are probably alternative rock as that genre is quite expansive and can mean many things.

I expect the cheesy setlists to change after the US tour. They will play their singles over there because that is what is known. Once they come to Europe we will see the rarities and better setlists. Also the globalist looks amazing live and the new drone is awesome.

Starlight was at its best at the beginning of this year and during the festivals imo
I cant understand why he has reverted to not playing his guitar again because the tone previously was perfect.

Im hoping that they played all of their poppier songs as it is the first night on the tour and they maybe just playing songs they feel more comfortable with. But man that setlist is riduclously poor

Thats the one mate. I said tickets were unavailable to me also then i used muse.mu link and copy and pasted my european member code and was fine. Prices are a joke though

Why in the fuck would they showcase Mercy at Download? Wasn't the entire point of this show to showcase that they can do a proper metal set? lol
I was there and both mercy and dead inside were monsters, The bass was ridiculously good. Didnt feel out of place at all.

BTW, how much of the crowd were Muse fans, do we think? It's hard to judge when you're fairly near the front and that's likely were the hardcore fans are! How was it further back, was it jumping back too? I don't believe I ever got a full look of how many were there, was it packed right back? Matt did say "Oh wow,they're tons of you fuckers here" though...
As download got busier during the day all i could see was muse t-shirts. I recon quite a lot were day tickets like myself. Put muse was totally packed. By the end of their set the crowd was so big i couldn't even see where it finished

Just back from download. Muse totally killed it. Everyone i spoke to in the campsite said they disliked muses music or it wasnt for them (actually most were a lot worse than that) and after the gig everyone was blown away. "Matt bellamy is a guitar god" was a common saying. A lot saying it was one of the best, if not thee best, headliner they had seen, even coming from some monsters of rock goers. Set was incredible and the bass was heaviest ive ever seen for a festival. Made me wonder if download stages are louder than other festivals because sometimes i feel the bass can get lost in a total open air environment like t in the park. But even dead inside was a monster. Micro cuts and CE were unreal. 2nd time ive seen both dead star and agitated i feel very fortunate lol. I also used to hate screamo but im now giving it a go after seeing some good bands.

I agree. Although reapers and the handler is some of their finest work, the rest is far too cheese.

All the tracks have grown on me massively, even revolt. I found them all terrible at first listen. Fuck you muse, fuck you.

The 2nd half of the album has grown on me slightly. I think if aftermath was in place of revolt and revolt completely changed for another monstrous riffage non-cheddar song it would make the album a lot more complete. But i know its a concept and every song has its place to tell the story therefore that might not work. The beginning of aftermath is totally awesome and loved what they were doing but unfortunately somehow ended up in westlife territory towards the end. Drones can go also. I see the point but i feel like if missed out on a song.

What a major disappointment. Aftermath, revolt, the globalist and drones are hilariously bad. Burst out laughing at every one of them especially drones. Such a shame considering reapers and the handler are probably their two best songs since knights.

This is the first time I've been on since drones came out but I go on muse Reddit every day. It makes me sad to think there might be some people still lurking here thinking they are the last few left when the chat has just moved elsewhere lol
