  1. Hope no one minds me bumping this.

I've got an EHX Little Big Muff Pi and I'm trying to get a sound out of it similar to Matt's in Plug In Baby, as well as the sound in Supermassive Black Hole.

Whilst I'm aware it's not the ideal pedal to achieve said sounds, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in getting anything remotely close to them.

    Cheers :)

  2. this is a lot darker than it looks in real life. theres been a bit of a run on the shoulder where the burst is so after flatting it down a bit tomorrow i shall have to redo that part of the burst

I spaffed a little. What pickups are you putting in there? Fixed bridge yeah?

  3. Resistance and UD are going to go away I think.

I think Uprising, Resistance UD & USoE are here to stay. Can't see GL being played after this tour. Unnatural Selection may crop up once in a while and MK Ultra won't see the light of day for some time. IBTY was never consistently played and the symphony won't be on the next tour if it doesn't get played on this.

It's a shame because UD is terrible live, but then when would Matt use his Keytar?

I like Uprising and USoE, so I don't mind them staying. Resistance is a good song but it's not that good live any more.

  4. Despite the poor choices of songs played since last September, I wouldn't have half the setlist beef I have if they mixed up the order.

Say if they move the piano section around the set, play pre-piano section songs after the piano section and vice versa, it'd be so much better.

    I quite enjoy Guiding Light.

Plug In Baby is my 10th favourite on Origin Of Symmetry. I'd rather listen to any other song, except for Feeling Good. I don't think it's bad, it's just overplayed and not that great-a song. If Muse are so insistant on playing it live, they should play it before the piano section...

  5. Mehhh I guess, though I just don't see how that's very surprising to anyone. I'm going to be seeing them twice within the same month and I'm fairly sure the set list will be almost identical. The set will probably be the same as the one at Fort Worth in March....and I'm okay with that. Just seeing them is enough for me, and I actually REALLY enjoy a lot of what they are playing. Like I said....id kill to hear either Bliss OR Citizen Erased at any of the gigs I'm attending. Unfortunately Ive come to terms with the fact that its probably not going to happen.

They have basically been doing the same things in the past, looking back.

I've seen them 3 times across 2 albums. On the 3rd time I didn't see a single song I hadn't heard before. That was the most shocking thing.

I was actually getting a bit bored at T in the Park :(

  6. Now I know your not the only one but, Before you go and rag on them about the set list understand there situation.

They need to promote the new album... yes then they have a few other song they can put in... in order to keep your head above water in the music industry you have to play what the majority of people want to hear... and promote what's new. SO before you judge them because you pay for a ticket and don't hear you favorite song consider their situation.:musesign:

Yes, but promoting The Resistance doesn't mean promoting the singles as well now, does it?

I've no problem with hearing songs off of TR, it's what you expect at this moment in time. I have more of a problem about the rest of the set.

    Ideally:

    Arena tour: 20 songs = 10 TR/7 Other Singles/3 Non Singles

    Stadium tour: 25 songs = 11 TR/9 Other Singles/4 Non Singles

    Festival: 18 Songs = 9 TR/7 Other Singles/2 Non Singles

Now if the 'other singles' were the singles in Muse's catalogue rotated (say they rotate around 15 in total), and non singles were also rotated (say about 8) then everyone on this board would be laughing...

That, my friend, would be brilliant. But why the hell Interlude and Hysteria? How many times do we have to say, INTERLUDE GOES WITH FALLING AWAY WITH YOU, NOT HYSTERIA.

Hence Muse are playing Interlude/Hysteria at gigs.

As if we don't know that they will be playing a certain amount of The Resistance tracks  They need to realise that they are meant to be playing for the fans who love all of their songs, not just the greatest hits and new album  They are turning into a greatest hits band.

I can't honestly imagine how horrible a 'greatest hits' Muse gig would be.

Sometimes I understand the arguments against the set list and sometimes I really don't. It must be me personally though, because I don't expect them to pull out a huge amount of random songs that are rarely played like everyone else apparently is. Being all butt sore over things like this doesn't really seem like its worth it honestly.

+Yes they are basically ignoring the set list polls and all that nonsense. I never trusted that to begin with, and hey people are getting Bliss and Citizen Erased. Id kill to at least get one at a gig I'm going too.

It's when you get the same setlist twice in 9 months. They were so lack lustre at T in the Park.

I saw them in November, and really enjoyed it, mainly because we got MKUltra for the first time, and seeing other songs from TR live.

But when you turn up to a festival 9 months later and get the same set, minus 3 songs (2 of which are your favourite (MK and Exo)) and in a slightly different order, it kind of pisses you off.

I didn't travel from Milton Keynes to Scotland to see that.

The main reason I went to T in the Park was to see Muse. If Muse weren't there I wouldn't have gone.

  7. They'll include all of the TR tracks that they've Played live hopefully.

    With a bit of luck.

We never got Assassin, Exo-Politics or City Of Delusion with BH&R :(

I just wish they'd play the symphony in full. They took short cuts recording so why not when performing it?

They've played every other orchestral song without an orchestra, so why not Exo?

And bullshit to Matt not being able to play part 2.

  8. They've already said that the DVD Is going to be of different gigs from the whole tour.

    (roskilde MTV interview)

I quite like Hullaballoo but it does have the weakest of the muse b-sides. They should do something similar again. There's definitely songs from the Abso era that deserve a bit more attention.

Yeah but what Muse say in an interview and what Muse actually do are two very very different things.

Yeah they should, but I can't see it happening.

If they do they should throw a full/majority of an arena show on one disc and a disc of all the B-Sides since Absolution, that'd rock.

Maybe one of the U.S./Canada dates that got RBS & Bliss? Or one of the Asian dates that got an absurd amount of rarities or one of the dates that got Cave :)

  9. I've never heard/can't remember hearing Shine, I need to check it out.

I find Map of Your Head kind of annoying.

If KoC isn't going to move from closing then it should be dropped.

It's a great song but no thanks if it's going to close every single Muse gig in the foreseeable future.

Hullabaloo is a complation of the less good Muse B-Sides from that era and both discs are ridiculously short in length. The crowd are a little to loud on the live disc, but that's the Frenchies for you.

If there's a DVD being released I bet it'll be Stade de France/San Siro. Can't see it being wembo again.

  10. I have to say I don't think that muse will ever use another closer again. and it upsets me to think about that. :(

    Never say never.

I'd wait until the end of the Aussie tour to say that.

However, I can't imagine it sounding at all good midset, or even closing the main set :(

Although, that's because the only time it's closed the main set was when they played BH&R in full *shudders at the very thought*

Although I'd much rather try it mid set and close with something off of The Resistance. MK Ultra or Unnatural Selection could be given a whirl with some epic riffing at the end.

  11. Knights Of Cydonia has been played at every gig since Muse started promoting BH&R just before its release. There is no way that they won't play it. And Wembley is two of the biggest Muse shows to date, if not, the biggest.

I can't see it opening, because it did in 2007, and I honestly feel they're going to try and make it different to 07, not just HAARP 2 - The Resistance style.

However, that hasn't really been the case with the other stadiums that were also visited in 2007. It's all been fairly generic and static.

On the other hand (:p), Muse played a few numbers at Wembley in 2007 that weren't played at any other show, so who knows?

Unfortunatly, Knights Of Cydonia has closed every gig since Teignmouth, so it's unlikely it's going to shift before the end of the summer shows.

Maybe for the Autumn U.S. shows?

    Well that's a different story...
