Not interested? You're basically just trying to tell me that my opinion is wrong. I think it's important, you don't. Cool. Yes, let me have my opinion and I'll let you have yours.
You know that's not the point I'm making so I'm not even going to bother responding to that.
For your second point however, the difference of opinion stems from what's considered a collection of amazing songs. I don't consider a setlist primarily of songs from their last 3 albums an amazing collection. That's fine if some of you do. I don't.
The last 3 albums have been not where near as good as the first 4, that I agree, but there's still great songs that stand out on each of those 3 albums that people would love to get.
If you really don't like those songs, and you're still going to be disappointed, then maybe they've just moved past your taste, and there's not much point on seeing them live currently Old Muse is great, a ton of people would agree, and it sucks they don't play more old stuff, but most bands stop playing their first few albums the further along they go
-
Yes, I'd be a little disappointed that not a single song from my favourite Muse album was played. It'd be interesting to see one that's so...un-Muse, sure, but that wasn't ever the original point.
I think it's weird because I don't see why that's so difficult for you to comprehend.
It may come as a surprise, but people will have different opinions to you about what does/doesn't make a good setlist.
EDIT: The point I originally made, which I think has been misunderstood, is that in the context of these relatively disappointing/generic setlists that Muse are doing - even with one that has a few more rarities than is the norm of late and came as a nice surprise, it's still 2 steps forward and 1 step back for me in that they've completely omitted anything from OoS in doing so.
I specifically mention OoS as we've come to expect that 90% of Muse gigs these days won't feature anything from Showbiz. It's not the norm however for nothing at all to feature from OoS.
You're telling me you'd feel better if Feeling Good was played instead of any of the songs on that list, just so that something from Origin gets played? That's nuts.
A collection of amazing songs is still a collection of amazing songs, regardless of album. OoS is my fav album, tied with Absolution, but I could care less if I didn't hear any songs from either album if i was getting setlists like that

At least with sporting events, you often get to a point where the outcome is a foregone conclusion.
I remember my dad always hauling me out of ball games early when we were losing.
Unless the game is a blow-out, I'd say concerts have more of a foregone conclusion (especially if you follow their setlists) than sports. I've seen crazy stuff happen in a final inning or final 2 minutes of a game tons of times to know it's worth staying for.
One of my biggest pet peeves is people leaving early, especially when it affects the people around them that want to stay. Walking in front of people while the game or show is on going is extremely rude to those that want to stay. I always say, if you want to beat traffic, stay home and watch the game

Nijmegen, Holland
Wow what's setlist! So lucky!
CE and SS as a first encore followed by TaB, PiB and KoC as a second!

On my first Muse gig I got New Born, Stockholm Syndrome, MK Ultra, Take a Bow, Citizen Erased, Map and Bliss. I should've treasured that moment more.
You must've seen them in Australia?
In North America, every show got Stockholm, and most got Map and New Born (they cut it during the second leg of the NA tour), but MK Ultra, CE, Bliss and Take a Bow were pretty rare here and never together in the same show
-
Oh wow. What about the pretty UD visuals?
Gone!
It was really odd, after Madness, Matt kept his guitar and started playing around with it, then bam...Resistance! I was quite happy not hearing UD on back to back nights!

I have no complaints against T2L tour other than the fact that the first leg in the US had three shows in Los Angeles and the rarest thing we got was a cover song. Sure, count Bliss if you're counting LA1 which was the same as San Diego down to the riffs they played. Meanwhile on the East Coast, single dates got Fury/Agitated and multiple dates got Dead Star and even Micro Cuts quite consistently.
I could've done three shows on the East Coast or a single stadium in Europe and got more rotations/material than I heard at 8 arena shows and that sucks. If they're going to continue playing here first, don't punish us. Get a nice structure down that is consistent and rewarding for everybody.
Same thing applies here, if I did the two recent shows, I would've gotten a better more varied show than my five West Coast dates for Drones.
Actually I do have a complaint against The 2nd Law tour, wasn't there a song slot literally dropped the moment they came from Europe?
The only reason the east coast got rare songs is because of signs on multiple night shows. Dead Star for both Toronto and New York and Micro Cuts just the once in Montreal. The signs idea really only started after the 3 shows in LA but I'm sure signs could've got you something more "rare" than Bliss.
And speaking of Bliss, I know it doesn't seem so rare to you because the West Coast hears it fairly often, but on the East Coast, it is quite rare! I've been to 13 shows, and have only heard it once, and that was the special show at Webster Hall. My friend has been to 20 Muse shows, he's also only heard it once, again at Webser Hall.
Speaking of special shows, the Mayan gig not only had more songs than the Webster Hall gig, but you guys got Assassin as well!
The only reason Pittsburgh got Fury was because it happened to be Catherine's 100th show. If that had fallen on a West Coast show, it would've been played there. It was just luck.
My point to all of this is it seems like you have a huge confirmation bias going on here. Sure some shows in the West got short changed, but shows in the East do too (Detroit didn't even have a piano slot). It's not like Muse caters to one or the other.

Thanks Dark. you're a love. No need to worry then...
I'm going to my first TO concert and I hope they don't kick me out of GA because I have total plans to dance and clap and enjoy the concert. Most my friends believe it is the norm to stand still ...
come on! This is rock!! I hope the crowd goes wild!!!
No worries!
I hope you dance around and sign along, this is a rock show after all! People who just stand still give us Canadians a bad rep as bad crowds!

So excited! I can't wait for the 16!!
Hoping good weather continues.... I need to go and pick up pre-sale tickets and then line-up. Does anyone know if there are several entrances to GA in AC centre or if GA is divided by sections/barriers (besides the expected VIP/GA division)?
There's only one entrance to the GA

From near the back where I was it looked like everyone was jumping and singing and screaming. The crowd was easily the best pit i'd ever been in. I'm sure there were parts towards the mid point where it wasn't as loud as say during Psycho, but people were exhausted i'm sure.
I felt completely dead by the end of the show, my body aching and killing me but it was worth every second. It was hot as hell in there and the set was so heavy. I can honestly say I put out all the energy, jumping, singing, and screaming that I had in me

This will be my first Muse gig. You can't even imagine my excitement right now.
What a first gig to go to! Not sure how you're going to be able to top it after though

That's why I prefer a band like Foo Fighters live. They play 30 song sets. Fuck yeah
Even Radiohead plays 23 songs on average.
The Foo Fighters are such an awesome live band but their 30 songs are generally shorter than most of Muse's stuff.
If Muse played even 20 + on most nights i'm sure there would be a lot less complaining. But none of this 15 song bs
-
At least live it's enjoyable
True
Although when it comes down to songs I'd want in the setlist, Guiding Light wouldn't come anywhere close
-
In the trash can
lol
I actually don't hate Guiding Light as much as most people do here
Sure it's cheesy but I like the small solo
It is however my least fav song on the album
-
Yes he is actually on topic for this thread so if you want to rework the flow of albums just search and create a new thread but don't derail the topic on this one.
Yup
It was a rate, not a reorder. Not sure where I'd put Guiding Light in a Reorder
