  1. The only chance he has had to seek medical attention he has been rejected as a prank caller. Brilliant.

How did you explain the situation to them? Perhaps you should just go in? Find the address and go. It's free!

I would have only waited this long because I would be going insane trying to figure out how I could pay for the consultation.

  2.

Of all the things on that list...

    MDMA?? And shampoo? Seriously???

Surely, you could ask someone where the local doctor is....or even google it. I think this is a far more pressing issue than unpacking

  3. Been a VERY long time since I've posted in here. Been a bit of a time since I've had a Muse dream...but this one was so good, I just have to share.

I was walking with Bellamy through a woods just having a chat. I don't even know what were talking about, but it was a pleasant stroll. He stops and runs over to a tree. I'm standing there confused as...he drops his trousers. I raise one eyebrow and he stars having a wank. When he's finished, he comes on the tree and shouts "SAVE THE RAINFOREST." I'm stood there like :stunned::wtf: not moving. He comes over to me and starts walking and chatting as if nothing ever happened.

    I woke up like :stunned:

I still feel like :stunned: with a little bit of :wtf: and  thrown in.

  4. Yeah someone already mentioned this question, but what about the people getting there at 7 am and its gunna probably like 35 degrees out. I kinda plan on gettin barrier so I will be there early, so i will need layered clothing, but then even if my place has a coat check, I don't want to waist time with that I want to get to the barrier as soon as possible. any ideas?

PS you guys are awesome this thread helps so much!

I'll be taking one of those warm survival blankets that I'll just toss in a garbage can before I get in. Get warm, thick socks and, if you're wearing gloves, you can get small hand warmers to wear in the glove. They're little liquid gel things that you heat up before you leave that will stay warm for about 4-6 hours. While that's only temporary, it's still something good to have.

  5. Hi I've been lurking around here quite a bit so I decided to post something. I read that the Lumix TZ7 is a great camera, but it's a tad bit out of my price range. Does anyone use or know of a camera that takes good pictures for well, a Muse concert that would be within a 15 year olds price range? I have about $100 but always get money for Christmas (thanks grandpa!), but not $300.

That's the one I use. And I'm sure you could find a deal somewhere on B&H if need be. It says that it has 3x zoom but it can actually manage 12x. I use the 12x feature all the time. Here are some of the pictures I've taken with it.

  6. For anyone wondering about the quality of pics other than gig pics taken with the Panasonic TZ 7, have a look at these pics I took a few minutes ago.

Taken in quite low light with a moving subject!

OMG your bird is adorable! And those pictures are lovely

  7. I've had some pretty good results with night setting when it's dark and there's lots of movement and lots of random lights. Usually I'm drunk when using it..so..I try not to fiddle too much. :chuckle:

 I can't get drunk during gigs. Drunk Kat is uber friendly and prefers to have everyone around her be without trousers. It would be a serious problem

  8. Same here - I have taken some of my best pictures in the pit. From the moment people are careful and respectful of others around I don't see why people can't take pictures, they make great memories to look back on.

Def. do not sing whilst filming... It's unbelievable how much a little camera mic can pick up :chuckle:

Agreed. My best videos and pictures come from when I'm in the pit.

Some tips for photography in the pit:

    - Be respectful and make sure you don't put the camera in front of people. It blocks their view and makes them upset. I feel this is an obvious tip but it has happened to me many times.

    - Shoot with a low ISO that still allows you to use image stabilization. ISO 200 will give you better pictures but might come out blurry. I usually stick between ISO 400-800. ISO 1600 will make your pictures noisy and unattractive.

    - Set your camera to manual. The light show will make your meter worthless.

    - Take as many as possible, because you will wind up throwing away a good portion of your shots. Sometimes I set my camera to burst and see what I can catch in each batch. That being said - of the two hour show, limit the time you spend behind a view finder. I usually only spend about 30 minutes taking pictures, but I spread that time out between various songs and shots. Taking pictures is wonderful and helps you remember the gig but you also want to enjoy the show and live in the moment instead of being frustrated about blurry pictures.

I use a Canon Powershot 1100is and I love how my pictures come out. I hope this helps for people wanting to take pictures in the pit.

  9. I don't know whether I should get up to the barrier or stand back a bit. It seems like there are different opinions on which spots are more dangerous and which are more enjoyable. If I'm at the barrier, will I be able to take my hands away from it without getting smooshed up to it? I wanna clap for Starlight and all that fun stuff.

I was center barrier on the Friday and was pushed flush against the barrier. I clapped during Starlight and went mental during MK. Most of the time I alternated hands on the barrier. One arm in the air, the other over the rail, then swapped. It worked perfectly. If you have your hands up and you feel someone trying to push themselves to barrier just bring them down and cling. Don't. Move.

So i'm 15 and 5'9 and I have GA for the phoenix AZ show, and I was wondering 2 things, I plan on getting to the arena at like 7 am (my mom is coming as well) is this a good time to get the closest possible spot? and - where would you suggest i position myself? I would prefer to be on matt's side on the rail, but i understand its gonna be insane. Should i go to the middle? I have never been to a muse show before, but i have been attending shows in GA for the last 4 years of my life. From what i have heard here, muse shows are rowdy. but this is Arizona, so idk if it will be as bad here. anyways, pardon my rambling, and please share your thoughts. Thanks!

Center barrier and Matt's side can be a little rough. Everyone wants center cause they think it provides the best view. But from what I've heard, Chris' side is mellow and still offers a fantastic view. They use the stage to the fullest so if you wind up near Chris, many times they will swap sides and give both mega love.

  10. *lol* lifted up?! That's scary. Probably slightly exhilarating too! I'm 5'1" and being lifted up would be helpful.

I just talked to my mum on the phone and she told me I should get there early in April so I can get a spot on the rail in front of Matt. I said "do you want your daughter to be crushed to death?" Mum's always been a rocker. And she loves Muse. She's sad she can't go to the show with me. heh

It was scary only because the crowd was moving and jumping. I had no choice but to put my faith between these two guys and hope my toes didn't get broken. But they were super nice. They saw my concerned face and one asked if I needed to get taken out and I said no, just please don't put me down cause i have no shoe. They just laughed and did their best to keep me up the whole time. Really nice guys.

Matt's side fills up quicky but center barrier goes insanely fast. A lot of people don't like to be in front of Matt's titanic platform but it's actually a good spot. If the stage design is the same, which I think it will be because it's the same tour, aim for those if you can. You won't be crushed as much cause no one pays attention to the titanic platforms.

 at the visual! Guess you were ready to party after that gig instead of thinking oh my aching calves!

I so was! I was ready to go

  11. yeah i dont really mind about that. i think ill go for GA again. I'm going to have to wear jeans with deep pockets though because i cant risk my phone or camera falling out.

and this was probably asked before,

but how early do you suppose ill need to get there to be able to be at the very front with the barrier? Is 3 hours before doors open not early enough?

Jeans with deep pockets is an awesome idea. And I know it's been said before many times, but make sure you wear shoes. And I don't just mean flats or things, wear shoes with LACES. I made this mistake the Thursday O2 gig. I've been to hundreds of gigs before and worn flats and never had a problem. Yeah my feet get stepped on but it was never a big deal for me. On the Thursday, the crowd pushed together so tightly that I was lifted off the ground and held for the entire show between two very tall men. My feet never touched the ground until after the encore. I wound up losing my left shoe during the first 3 bars of Uprising and didn't see it again until about ten minutes after the end of the show, a lovely security guard brought it to me. Moral of the story: WEAR LACED SHOES

As for queuing, I really cannot tell you how the crowds are going to be in the US. I've been living in the UK for the last 3 months so I have no conception of how long people will queue for. I will be getting there about 7, the same time I queued for the Friday O2 gig. However, on the Thursday I came from uni and didn't get to queue until 5 and was 6th row from barrier. I had an awesome view and was left center. Although, my view would not have been so awesome if I wasn't physically lifted off the ground. I'm 5'2" My point is, it depends on how you get moved in the queue and how long you're there for. To be safe, I'd get there as early as you feel comfortable with.

  12. I guess it just depends on if you have A's, B's, C's, D's or larger as to how much stuff you can carry! I now have visions of packed lunches etc being whipped out from there...

 Yeah. I have a D cup so I can easily put many things in there  Though, I have yet to work my way up to packed lunches!

  13. Just like how you go by it, how it works, where your belongings actually go, do you have to give up your place in the queue,

Depends on people and on venues. Most of the time they will checked your bags when you enter just after they scan your tickets.

Of course the bigger the bag, the longer it takes them to check. I normally don't have a bag at gigs I have the essential in my pockets (i.e. card, money, phone, ticket) and my camera around my neck in a pouch which means I don't loose time when I enter. When we were in Teignmouth we had bags with us but my car was parked close by so about an hour before the doors open a couple of us took everything we had and dumped it in my car. Bear in mind as well that if you have a bag you will have to carry it during the gig.

If you are unsure if you can take something in the venue just ask one of the security guards looking after the queue and they will be able to let you know, for example you cannot not take bottles into the venue.

I prefer not to take a bag unless I absolutely need it. I tend to keep a very thin wallet with cards and money in it in my bra. It might seem odd to some people, but no one is taking money or cards from me without my knowing. It's the world's best pocket, in my opinion. If possible, meet up with everyone you're going to queue with first and leave your phones at home. It's one less thing you need to worry about. But if you can't just keep checking your pocket to see if it's there or, again, put it in your bra. My phone is small enough to put it in there too. I know I probably seem like a psycho but I swear I have never had anything lost or stolen at a gig.

Make sure your camera has a strap that can be tied to your wrist. More than this defending against people trying to steal it, it prevents you from dropping it on the floor when things get rough. If that camera falls, it will get trampled and that is the end of it. The strap on my camera has seriously saved its life dozens of times.

  14. Also out of curiosity, those of you that were on the barrier, how early did you get there? I'm thinking about going at like 7am maybe... D:

7AM almost definitely guarantees you barrier  But I don't think you will need to be there at early. The barrier is massive so you can queue from 7-9 and still have a good shot at getting it. I really don't think it's necessary to be there at early for US gigs but I could be wrong. I've only gone to the two London dates where it was COMPLETELY necessary to be there at 7  Which date are you going to? I know a lot of people for MSG want to queue early so it also depends on the location of the gig you're going to.

  15. I agree with what you guys are saying about queue jumping. As a n00b though, let me present a scenario. Suppose I show up at 9 am and there's only a handful of people there. Say I know that I have 3 friends coming by noon, and I tell the people behind me that I'm expecting three people. Then those friends show up at noon but the line by then is considerably longer. Can they get in line with me? I mean, without being spit on and heckled, lol.

You won't be heckled for that. You've informed people that you have friends coming and three is a reasonable number. Also, this is the US so I don't think the line will be as long as many people think it will be. Three people is not the same as a friend, his two friends, their girlfriends, his sister, and his cousin. I think you should be fine

  16. +1

If someone tried to push in the queue in front of me, I'd happily rat them out. Sorry, but that's the way it is. I don't jump the queue if I can't be there all day, so why would I let anyone else? If you want barrier, get there early. If you can't get there early, too bad.

It's that simple really. I couldn't imagine pushing in front of people to get barrier. Like when I met up with you at the Thursday when you guys were in front. I gave everyone hugs and talked for a bit before going to the back. You guys had been there since 8 and I got there at 5. There was no way in hell I was going to shove in just cause you were my friends. I just don't know how people could feel ok doing that.

  17. AMEN!!! Groups will camp out in line and hold places for others when some of the group go for loo/food breaks, or even a nap for the person/s who got up early to stake out a spot. But NO ONE should just join in right at the end, sorry; even if you have work or school, that's just not cool.

Also, as said before, be sure the people behind you know how many spots you are holding. I have seen people with little signs, like "I'm holding spaces for Mary/Tom/Jack/Helen/Tallullah" etc so those behind them won't be shocked when others arrive. But NOT right before the gig!!

Happened at the San Diego Soma show in '06; tiny venue, was camped out most of the day with Brandi/Branny, Chanel/Satan, Jordan/jester, Brian/canuxfan, right at the front of the queue. About a half hour before doors, the guy who had proposed to his GF on stage at the Wiltern showed up with his wife and twin brother and a bunch of others and tried to squeeze into the line with us. NOT COOL! And we told him so, and sent him to the end of the (by that time, very long!) line....

Well done on using the name Tallullah

And well done for getting them moved to the back. It's just an extremely rude thing to do at the very end. But no one can complain if you inform the people behind you that you have more people coming. Just keep the numbers reasonable. Having a clown car of people flood the line is unfair and also make sure that they are coming at a reasonable time. It's heartbreaking and upsetting to be getting ready for doors only to see a small group come in and get good spots after only being in a line for 5 minutes. Make sure they can get there at least 45 minutes before doors so people won't be too upset.

  18. isn't there a Muser meetup? Can't you just say "i'm with them" and jump in or is that a no-no?

    Please do not queue jump.

That is seriously one of the most irritating things in the world. Muser meets usually happen the day of the gig and then you all queue together or after the gig. Queue jumping will instantly make you one of the most despised people and many times you will get pulled out if you are caught doing that. If it's just one person getting pulled in, that's frustrating and people will be grumble but move past it. But please do not bring 6 of your friends into the queue. It's extremely unfair and all of you will wind up getting moved to the back.

  19. After an extremely long dry spell, I have finally had another Muse dream.

I was walking around my living room in a gas mask playing my violin when I see Chris run up to the sliding doors in the kitchen. I let him into the house and he thrusts his head under the sink and starts drinking water. Matt and Dom come running in after him and see me with the gas mask on. Matt screams like a girl and stops abruptly and says, "Oh. I thought you had a black hole in your chest. Never mind." He walks over to Chris and says "I told you not to eat the sulfur." Dom starts toasting a scone and says, "here...this will fix it." I take off my gas mask and say, "I doubt a scone is going to help with poisoning." Dom whirls around and throws a tin of butter at my face and says "YOU KNOW NOTHING." Matt picks up the butter and says, "Was that necessary?" Dom just shrugs and Chris puts himself in the sink and sits there. He takes the scone and says "Detox....detox." Matt starts looking through my cupboards, pulls a strainer out, and wears it as a hat. The dream ended with all of us looking at him like :stunned:

  20. I finally had another Muse dream last night. It has been such a long time since I had one.

I was in Central Park walking a poodle and eating a pretzel and Dom came up to me yelling about how I had stolen his dog. I got super mad at him shouted back, saying that it was NOT his dog and he shouldn't just assume things. He got very disgruntled and apologized. He sat on the ground and hugged his knees to his chest and looked incredibly sad. I sat next to him with the dog in my lap and asked him what was wrong. He said he was having the worst week ever. Matt and Chris ran off on a romantic holiday without him, he was upset that Matt was being unfaithful (my face looked something like :stunned: and :wtf: when he told me that), and to top it off, the dog Matt had given him for his birthday had gone missing. I hugged Dom and said I would help him look. He got really happy and we left cnretal park but wound up in the absolut ice bar in England and he was drinking his sadness away. I yelled at him asking why he wasn't looking for his dog. He said he didn't care. Life without Matt was much too hard. I slapped his arm, called him a crass asshole and left. I found Matt outside the door to the bar with Dom's dog. He apparently took the dog on vacation with him and Chris and Dom had taken things out of proportion. He wasn't being unfaithful, he went on holiday with Chris because Chris wanted to go house hunting for his family and Dom sucks at property searching.

I woke up after that...I wish I had seen how the rest worked out

  21. That is so cute! My dreams never have narratives; they're just a series of weird events, like all my old high school friends having children, then thinking I'm scum, because I didn't have kids... odd, but meaningless...

Ever since I was a kid my dreams have been pieces of narrative, however confusing or surreal they might be  It's so strange. I wonder what that means.

  22. Had my first Muse related dream in a while last night.

I was on a beach in Ireland in the 1940's and I had my hair done up I payed a lot of attention to the hair mostly because dream Kat was like "where did I get this done? I never do my hair!" I remember thinking it was cold and when I turned to go back to the house (apparently I was within walking distance of it?) Matt was there with a military uniform on and he was holding a letter in his hand. I walked up to him and told him he was late. He apologized and tried to kiss me but I pushed him away and told him it might be too late. He smiled a little sadly and said nothing is ever too late if you don't want it to be. He tried to get me to look at him but I turned around and kept walking the beach and he followed after me. He asked me why I wouldn't talk to him and I told him that once someone has been away fighting off death for a year, there really isn't anything to talk about. He grabbed my hand and held me to him and put my hand over his heart. He said that we could talk about his heart (it got relatively mushy so I will spare you), and I said first love is great for what it is but it was last love I was interested in. He looked me straight in the face and said that I was his last love. I didn't know what to say to that, but I did say his name and it wasn't Matt. It was Caelum.

The end. So weird. But very pretty and very real and it made me feel like it was a memory.
