Cerpin, this isn't a critique as of yet, by the way, I was just entering into the discussion. I'll give it a listen, though.

Developing something would just mean altering it slightly, changing instruments around, halving the tempo and adding something else over the top etc... the possibilities are endless, and you can always add other ideas. I'm just saying that if you keep on adding new ideas without exploring them enough, it gets boring.

You say not sounding like muse like its a bad thing? Anyhow it sounds pretty awesome. But it does feel like it drags on for a bit with the main riff. You can only repeat the same thing over and over before people lose interest as I've learnt.
That's why you have to develop the main riff - if you keep on adding new riffs it gets just as boring if you don't go about it in the right way.

Haha, he's only been singing properly (as it were) since last November, trust me, he will only get better with time. We've advised he takes singing lessons if he wants.
As for the Bass, well, the good Bass mix is partially due to me. I'm VERY picky about the Bass in the mix, if it can't be heard clearly, it's terrible. My lines aren't usually lines you stick right at the back of a mix, in No Reply, they're more or less the melody! lol
And thanks very much my friend!
No Reply is the best song

Today, The Drift FINALLY received the last 2 out of 3 songs we recorded a few weeks back, and they are sounding GREAT! =D Check 'em out:
J'adore le bass. It is very sexual. Vocals could do with a bit of work, but still none too shabby.

Gave it a listen, and it works well. It's varied enough to be interesting and it still achieves the hypnotic quality you were after. It makes much more sense after a second listen.
I'm not set in my ways, as you've just proved to me. But it depends entirely on how someone goes about it, and 99 times out of 100, it seems that people fail miserably at what you attempted, and succeeded at.
