    Gave it a listen, and it works well. It's varied enough to be interesting and it still achieves the hypnotic quality you were after. It makes much more sense after a second listen. I'm not set in my ways, as you've just proved to me. But it depends entirely on how someone goes about it, and 99 times out of 100, it seems that people fail miserably at what you attempted, and succeeded at.

    Developing something would just mean altering it slightly, changing instruments around, halving the tempo and adding something else over the top etc... the possibilities are endless, and you can always add other ideas. I'm just saying that if you keep on adding new ideas without exploring them enough, it gets boring.

    That's why you have to develop the main riff - if you keep on adding new riffs it gets just as boring if you don't go about it in the right way.
