  1. I'm watching that new film with robert de niro and bruice willis in.. called 'what just happened' (dvd copy on a website shh) :D

the cover muse did at V and possibly other shows with the harmonica that chris plays is on about 9 minutes into it..

not exactly muse and obviously not their version but still!

    m6BQKFs3-VM

    this is the song

  2. Thanks.

With the mixing, I basically took everything down a little bit in the verses, and then brought it up in the choruses to give it a more "explosive" sounds for the choruses. There are probably better ways of doing this with compression, as you said, but I only do this as a hobby and have no real idea what I'm doing... so it's all experimental for me.

Another thing, possibly, could be that the bass also goes up an octave in the verses too... just a thought... I'm not really sure... haha.

And I do a few live shows, but only locally with my band (where I have to share the set with the songs by the band, and not just my own music). I wish I could do more though :\ Unfortunately, that's one of the downsides of working solo.

ahh right i see. that makes sense, also you are probably right about the bass too. its one of those instruments you only miss when its gone, kinda like a cat that shits everywhere.... :p

let me know if you ever stray to somewhere in the north west and play cause i'd love to come to see that :D

  3. I was thinking to myself today "I love Map of the Problematique" and remembered that I had used an old chord progression on an album a few years ago that I was thinking of doing something with again... Anyway, I recorded something and with Map of the Problematique in mind, I exaggerated it a little and this is the result:

    Make Me Feel Invincible

I'm quite pleased with how it's come out, considering it's nothing like my normal music at all.

i quite liked this track, i dont know what you did with the mix but it seems to get very quiet and loud between the verses and chorus, you may need to use more compression, the solo is too low in the mix, but one thing that is great is the drum mix, i always stuggle mixing drums cause i can never decide what i want to be the most audible in the mix.

the song is great i like the chord progression, the synths are great and the effects are sweet.

do you do any live shows?

  4. My band 'Your Attention Please' Just played a gig in the liverpool Cavern club, and a guy from a subdivision of warner was there, He expressed an interest in us and wants us to send him recordings of any new songs we do, he said if he would come see us play again in febuary and if he liked us he would have something more for us. is this good news or is he just stringing us along till he finds someone better? bareing in mind he didn't give us his e-mail adress we are supposed to send it to the woman who organised the event, the one responsible for getting the record guys down there and she is supposed to send it on.

  5. We got our first review! Of our myspace for some reason....

"Here the bassist from the ultra-metal band Jim Crow's Grave pulls an unexpected left-turn and forms Hastings' premier Hot Chip influenced electropop group. Splashes of actual guitar and bass aside, To The Moon Alice have built their songs on kicking, clonking drum-machines, New Wave synth-lines, and uncertain vocals. Over a generous six tracks the songwriting is strong, thought the geezerish, misjudged Dancing with Dwarves and mannered Placebo-isms of One In The Bush let the side down. Standards in this genre need to be high for club crossover potential, but a firm producer and decent studio could bring forth some disco stardust from To The Moon Alice.

    7/10"

Not bad I guess, although we haven't had those songs up for months so it must be ancient

    what a sexy review :p

  6. haha okay thanks.. sounds like i really need a decent pair of monitors.. sure your 5.1 system has a good response? because its not seemed overly bassy where ever else i have played it. thanks for the feedback too! the first song was one of the first ones we recorded.. so yeh the production isnt quite as good as some others

hey, industry is your band aint it? i heard some stuff from you once, i cant think where, a myspace or something, i just read cheddas review and now i'm fairly interested, you reckon you could mail me a cd or something, or let me know when your next gigs are so i can get down and see you play?

Considering the guitar work you did for my hysteria track a while ago i imagine it'll be a pretty damn decent band. and its all better live :D

also chedda, i think you posted something a while ago, you had made a video for a track you did, i really liked that track, you've got a very talented three piece going on there, you doing many gigs? i'd like to see you play live, your drummer is very imaginative with his rhythms as far as i could tell from that one song, i showed it to my mate when i heard it, hes really into it, where did you record it, the quality was top notch! :D

  7. not all of us respond to every fart made here

you don't see me crying over 0 response to my vid

    dude i was joking.:D

but all i'm doing is being persistent. i posted it pages back a while ago and got no response, didnt really mind but i thought i'd post it again, cause i just want a bit of feedback, that is the point of this thread isnt it.

i dont really mind if you listen to it or not, but now that you've responded to me you may aswell listen to it ;):p

honestly i'd write different music if it was up to me, but i kinda like writing stuff like that on the myspace since i feel my ideas are fresher.

and don't call my band a fart!:)

  8. oh my...

i returned to the forum after a little while of just not being very musey.. i know i'm not too well known anyway but i'm alowed to feel loved :p

but this... this is what i come back to

someone rapping about a large hardon (oops hadron) collider over a muse song.. what is going on... why do i love this...

theres no way to escape loving everything muse is there

  9. Ok since we casually stepped over my post over a week ago.. here it is again. :p

Hey all heres a link to my bands myspace. we just recorded a collection of songs and i thought i'd share it with you. please add us too :)http://www.myspace.com/yourattentionpleaseband

its kinda like.. power pop/punk/rock... but we always struggle to categorize it cause our songs orbit lots of genres.

call it a modern day OMD

    catchy stuff basically.

ps i play keyboards in it

  10. Updated that wierd shit from before, its longer and odd now:

    http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6606467

    Cookehs for spotting the polyrhythms...

sounds good :) but maybe could to with lowering some of the higher frequency content at the beggining. its ear piercing.. i had to turn right down to stop it bugging me then turn up when the track properly kicked in.. not saying its crap its really mysterious and i like it, but no harm in a little constructive critisism. :) keep it up

  11. ok heres something i whipped up the other day, still more to do on the track but it'll do for now

there is two. one is a rock song and the other is what it started out as.. i wanted to try lots of contrasting genres and these two were my favourites.. tho taste wise i only like the rock one.. i think the other one is still ok.
