  1. So last night I consumed what can only be described as a disgusting amount of 'unorthodox' cocktails, and my subconscious mind somehow came up with this gem...

I had somehow got tickets to a gig Muse were playing at Brixton Academy (it was a very specific dream!) to showcase songs from their next album. The songs themselves turned out to be all quite slow and mellow, bit of a disappointment.

Halfway through the gig, Matt changes his guitar for the keytar and starts playing the intro to Undisclosed Desires. Whilst he's zoned out and not looking at the crowd, most of the crowd walk out of the venue in protest and there's about 10 people left. Matt looks up, realises what happens, looks very confused and then properly loses it. There was good few minutes of 'FUUUUCK YOOOOU' and various gestures aimed at the crowd/Chris/Dom/Morgan/anyone in his vicinity before the tour manager comes on stage and explains that it was all a setup by the fans which all the crew were in on, and that we want muse to play more riffs.

Matt then goes 'oh yeah, what about this?', before launching into a proper epic riff and a massive jam session.

Then I woke up chuckling to myself

I was then slightly disappointed though, as a large part of the dream was the build up to the gig and I also woke up convinced I was going to see muse tonight :(

  2. Short clip of SMBH video on Buzzcocks just now - about getting salmonella.

How annoying, they got the details wrong and lumped us in with the crazy death-threat-writing MCR fans

I kinda hoped this would involve Matt's legendary 'take them to a higher level' quote

  3. Not heard as such, but it seems one of the writers of those pointless, timewasting slideshow things on MSN.co.uk is a Muser.

Saw the headline 'Songs about the internet' whilst looking for pointless things to waste my time with at lunchtime today and wondered if it would include a certain Muse track, and lo and behold there it was at no. 3:

    "50 bytes per second..."

'Pink Ego Box' was a Muse b-side from the 'Showbiz' era. This editor has long held the belief that the pink ego box of the title alluded to Apple's colourful range of iMac's.

"I've never heard your voice - But I think I like it - When you instant message me"

This song was originally called 'Instant Messenger'.

  4. IBTY was played in the bar in Covent Garden where I enjoyed several two for one cocktails tonight - I was a bit distracted from the conversation I was having with my friend as it was the first time I've heard that song 'in public', as it were. I was holding out for them playing the album version with French section, but no...:(

  5. I'm ashamed to say I just turned on my TV and it was on ITV2, they played an instrumental version of the USoE intro over a 'sentimental' segment on that awful programme about Jordan.

This has made me disproportionately annoyed, probably due to my recent return from several hours in the pub...

  6. Just watched the interview with Zane Lowe where Matt mentioned they wanted to cover 'Ever I Saw Your Face' and I'm very much hoping this will actually happen...yes it's been covered a gazillion times before and can be cheesy as hell (I believe Leona Lewis has done a version), but I reckon if it was done in the style of Unintended meets Exogenesis meets Jeff Buckley it could be beautifully epic/epically beautiful. Maybe it's just me but the melody does have a certain Muse-like quality to it even if the lyrics don't.
