ok, we're fine!
i'm a zildjian man i'm afraid, and guy with expensive taste (although i picked up half my cymbal set up in a sale). any idea which sabian hats they were? chances are they were a fair bit up the cost ladder.
when i started, i played zildjian zbts (oh yes). but they were dodgy. like i said, i can't tell you much about paiste.
niles is probably the guru when it comes to knowing stuff like that. ask me anything about zildjian cymbals though and i'll help!
the only advice i can give you is to go into a shop and ask to try out some of the cymbals you're interested in. that way you know exactly what you're buying into.
Lovejoy, get me a quote on a 6" Zil Bell..

hows about using every available rescource to develop your drumming?
yea people should try to work stuff out for themselves and improve there listning, but that isn't always as easy as it sounds. by using a tab you help develop your reading skills as well as picking up little bits of the song you might otherwise have not heard. it also provides reasurance that someone agrees with the way you've worked it out OR gives you an alternate idea to how you've worked it out. </bitterness>
Fair comment there

you're surely not talking to me, mez
Sorry I wasn't talking to anyone directly, is just the fact in my opinion I feel that people need to stop relying on tabs and stuff to figure things out, give your ears a chance to work it out.
Just my little two cents..
-
How about stop relying on tabs and try and develop your own listening skills?
-
As for it being a ZHT - they are still good cymbals + this is for a special trashy 'Whitenoise' effect so the quality of the series dont really matter anyway..
Yeah... but as his main crash?
Actually I have seen a few more clips from that video and the crashes are A Customs.
So I presume he is either trying an A Custom protoype or Marketing a new range for them.
-
So dom is no longer using A Custom crashes!
He has been seen to be playing with K Customs and at the Eurockennes gig he had a dodgy looking zildjian with holes cut out of it!
Aye, that holed cymbal sounds fecking ace though!
-
Don't you hate it when people put their feet on the bass hoops?
Not really, then again, I love my bass player

Not even close.
Reality:
Starclassic Maples
12x10 (have you ever tried mounting a 12 deep rack tom?)
14x14
16x16
22x16
14x6.5 Black Beauty (LB417)
8" EFX??? Have you ever seen an EFX? They have holes cut out of them, tambourine jangles stapled on and only come in 16"
8" A Custom Splash
11" FX Oriental Trash Splash
18/19" A Custom Crashes
18" FX Oriental China Trash
22" K Custom Ride
Remo (Emperor) on the toms, Aquarian (Super Kick II) on the kick and snare (Hi-energy), IC double, roadpro stands
I quoted it out of the Rhythm Magazine (around the hullabaloo tour, which is when the post originally dates back to), so I'm sorry if it isn't perfect for you. Jesus Wept.
Yes, I have tried mounting a 12" deep rack tom, have a look at this picture of my kit..
-
Although his drum setup may not have changed much since hullabaloo, his cymbal setup certainly has!
He now uses K Dark Crashes instead of the A Customs (Hullabaloo)
He uses K Hi-Hats instead of the A Customs (Hullabaloo)
He has an extra crash, it's oriental, that's all I know.
It's a 22" K Custom ride he uses, not a 20".
And yes, it's a Rhythmtech Crasher that he uses in both Megalomania (Hullabaloo) and live and recorded versions of TIRO.
And you call yourselves Dom fans...
The extracrash is called the "Crash Of Doom".
I still think its a 20" ride, do you have any evidence that it is a 22"?
-
It's a Starclassic Maple kit by Tama...
Â
Yes, excuse my typ0s
-
I thought he used a Tama Rockstar set?
Go on then Mezzair, please tell me everything about the hullabaloo tour (cuz im guessing very little has changed since then)
