People who were expecting something heavy and guitar-driven right now:
-
I'm sitting here in the subway, connected to a wifi hotspot, hoping that my local alternative station plays the damn single before my train comes at 3:21.
Come on!
-
Straight truth
No lies
I'm dead inside
There's no fucking soul
behind these two pale eyes
-
Somebody on the Muse subreddit is claiming that the band soundcheked The Groove and a brand new song in Manchester. Apparently the new song sounded like an anthem with a catchy chours.
Dead Inside, perhaps?
-
With a title like "Dead Inside", it'll probably be at least a little moody.
And I'm really hoping it's the song with the 7 string riff. That was, by far, my most favorite Instagram teaser.
-
This whole mini-tour is practice for upcoming world tour. They're doing this to practice their new material and to determine which songs will get played the most on the tour. They also want to shake off the rust before they start playing festivals in May.
That's the impression I'm getting anyway.
-
I've listened to it 5 times now and it gets better with each listen. When Madness came out, I listened to it like twice and thought, "eh, it's ok" and didn't play it again for the rest of the day.
-
The alternative stations in my area play RATM and Muse regularly. I don't really hear Muse on mainstream pop stations here.
My alternative station just said that they won't be playing this song because it's too offensive.
I'm sure Dead Inside will get a lot of airtime in a couple of weeks though.
-
No one is talking about the heaviness of the song. One Step Closer and Given Up were all over the radio back in the day and those 2 contain more swears than all Muse songs put together.
It's probably too hard or impossible to edit the drill sergeant's profanity-laced dialogue out of the song.
-
After listening to the lyrics some more, you could interpret this to be an anti-ISIS song. Though I doubt that was the band's intention.
It's just a general criticism of how fighting forces operate, I think.
-
Does anyone get the feeling that song could be based on the first part of the movie "Full Metal Jacket", or is that just me?
-
Amazing song, minus the drill sergeant bits.
My local alternative station just announced the release of the song, but said that they won't play it because it's too obscene for radio
-
So what time should Psycho be dropping for those of us living in the Eastern U.S.? 1pm?
-
There will be 4 solos, and Drones will have the best and longest one.
-
June 8th...so far away...and some of those track titles...JFK( possible title) and The Handler. Is Matt back to his political ways...and I wonder what he means by offensive and two tracks released at one----yay!
And what chance is there of getting a ticket to the UK gigs...I think this sight is in the process of having a meltdown.
I'm thinking this will be their most politicized album yet. These titles make me think that he's hanging out with Alex Jones again
-
June 8th is too far away:(
-
So nothing official has come from Muse today, which means if Matt's tweet yesterday is true (lol) then we should be expecting something else to occur today. Perhaps just a confirmation of what we already know and suspect.
They never confirmed that the leaked artwork was real yesterday. I think today's confirmation is what their "big news" was for the day.
All of the recent evidence suggests that we might very well have to wait "one more week" for the single again.
-
I check in to see if there's any new news about the album and I get 20 pages or so of people debating the merits of arm hair on an album cover
-
It's not late in the US.
Most singles come out before 3pm EST in the U.S. It's going on 4pm EST now.
There's still a chance that we'll get the song today, but the odds aren't that good IMO. Tomorrow seems more realistic at this point.
-
The single probably would've been released already if today was the day. It's starting to get kind of late in the day in the U.S. and the UK.
Looks like we have another day of waiting ahead of us.
-
While we wait, lets play a game.
How long with Psycho be? Closest wins.
I'mma go 2:56
Yeah, I was thinking 3 minutes at most. Heavy, riff-driven songs tend to be rather short.

Hey! New user here. I lurked in 2012 during the run-up to The 2nd Law, and I've been lurking here again for the last month or so. I figured that I should just join the forum this time around.
I swear, if they don't release this single today, I'll be so dissapointed. Enough with the teasing already!

I like Psycho a lot. That riff never gets old for me.
Dead Inside is good. It's like a better version of Madness, IMO. And Matt's vocals are fantastic in it. However, I enjoy Muse's rock songs more than their pop songs, so I'd give the edge to Psycho.
Reapers may be better than both of them though. I'm withholding a final judgement on it until I hear the studio version.
