  1. Dig Down was writen with gospel in mind, but they changed it to fit the album.

Oh ok.. It's a bit weird to me they changed it for the album, considering it came out so long ago, when a complete album seemed still so far off, but I guess even by then they had more stuff than I thought, and enough to have something to make it fit with.. Anyway, I guess I would have preferred the mismatch!

  2. I agree.. because unlike some of you, I did not pay much attention at all to any of the songs released in advance all because I HATED "Dig Down." I actually assumed I had outgrown the band. I caught glimpses of the videos as they were released, but really didn't engage myself in listening.

So I'm really hearing these songs for the first time as part of the scope of the album and it changes everything. I am loving the album and suddenly I'm all on board. I snatched up tickets to a show yesterday, completely spontaneous.

"Dead Inside" got a similar reaction to me. I was "meh" about it as a first single, though nothing close to my completely underwhelmed reaction to "Dig Down." Once Drones came out, I started to appreciate the song more and seeing it live really highlighted just how good the vocals are on the song. Now I love it. It remains to be seen if this will occur with Dig Down.

I wonder if the gospel version of DD existed when they released it..? Cause I wasn't impressed when it came out but I didn't mind it, but now the other version totally rehabilitated it for me!

And like others said, if I can make an 'a la carte' album with some the acoustic/alternate versions, and forget that GUAF exists, I really really really love this album! And I was pretty afraid with ST since it looked it was gonna spread pretty far off my usual tastes, and yet like it happened for say, Madness, sometimes I'm surprised at how much I end up loving some songs!

And also I'm still impressed with how many good versions of different songs they can come up with.. It must indeed be very hard sometimes to decide which way to choose in the studio.. I just wish I was there to tell them so it's MY opinions and not Timbaland's (or whoever agreed those fucking Tove Lo's ahahs were ever worth putting in a song!) ;)

  3. Ahh, funny to feel like most people for once. I've liked/cringed at the last songs, it's been weird mixed feelings, and I've always mostly hated everything 80's..but Dark Side did get it right somehow, both the song and the video, and finally got me super hyped for the new album!!

And regarding the pre-orders, I've been wondering if any of you fine fans have been ordering more than 1 medium, and if so if it came with more than 1 code? My friend and I have been thinking about ordering together to save some shipping costs but we wonder if we're gonna end up with just one code for the shows..

  4. Thanks!

Depending on venue some let you hang your coat over the barrier some will refuse. For Muse in November I had a waterproof winter jacket that I just tied around my waist when I'm inside if I can't put it on the barrier. I normally never have a bag all my stuff (i.e. money, phone, card) are in my pockets but if you want to take a bag I would suggest a small satchel that you can pass around your neck as those are easier when you jump around - shoulder bags tend to slide down.

If you are worried about being cold whilst waiting outside buy a survival blanket (tinfoil looking one), they keep you warm and you can throw it away before you get in.

Aw thanks. I was hoping about putting the coat and stuff over the barrier but of course I won't know if it's possible until I get there.. And tying it around my waist too with the mittens and stuff up in the sleeves but I was afraid it might be too big to hold on solid. And the bag around the neck is a better idea, thanks!

I didn't thougth about a survival blanket. Might be a very good idea indeed. I'll just have to see how the weather goes really.. It's so unpredictable, who knows maybe we'll have super early spring and I will be able to get away with a jacket!! ..But I highly doubt so!

    Thank you!:)

  5. Hi! :)

That thread is a good idea, thanks for sharing all your tips! And I wanted to have some of your experienced view on something if possible...

I was wondering how annoying you'd think a shoulder bag would be in the pit?

I'm going to see them in Monteal in March and I'm ridiculously short so I HAVE to be at the barrier! I'll obviously have to wait outside for a while to get there, but that means winter coat on, plus probably the hat, scarf and mittens..and then I'll be stuck with all of that in the pit!! I was wondering if maybe puting my stuff in a bag (not a backpack but a shoulder bag?) would be a decent idea?

The few winter gigs I've been to I had seats so I didn't really have this problem...

    Thank you!:D

Oh and btw those are truly :awesome:

If you are close and you have a good zoom you can get some brilliant pictures - I have spoilered some examples.
