I'm not sure it's been thought through very carefully. If they just played one small show, can you imagine the chaos on here/on Twitter when 90% of their 'hardcore' fans failed to get tickets (which would inevitably happen)
Just let them get on with the album I say
-
Just turned this on, lasted about 10 seconds of Paul McCartney's speech and then turned it off again
-
With the right intro Sunburn might actually work as an opener.
Definitely, some kind of string intro could work. I think it would be a good start to any anniversary shows they might do actually, first song off the first album and all that
-
Guys, it's not cool to like Muse anymore (was it ever?), therefore NME don't. That's how they role. I seem to remember them giving T2L an 8/10 though, which was probably one of the best reviews it got.
-
Resistance is a good song. In addition, I liked the Adagio in Gm intro.
although it's pretty shocking lyrically. I've always enjoyed it live though

If the anniversary tour is gonna be tiny gigs though they could potentially be announced at very short notice. It might literally be a discreet hint on twitter the day before type thing. But yeah, I'm not expecting anything
-
No way will they rotate those. It'd make no sense.
I'm still hoping that the concept of X rotated with Y wont exist next tour, and that the sets will be extremely varied and things wont just be confined to one spot on the set like they are now.
This, some fluidity would be nice
Looking back to the BH&R tour, some of the unpredictability was crazy, I'd love a return to that, but with more consistent set lengths
-
Wasn't it dropped at one of the Mexico shows, or late on the N. American tour, or am I dreaming things. And re. Survival after the piano section, if they followed it with something really low key like Madness - or a B-stage section, I think it could work.
EDIT: yeah no SMBH at ACL week 2 according to setlist fm.
-
I can see Follow Me rotating with Resistance, but with a preference towards Follow Me. I'd like to see Survival as a post-piano section song, rotated with New Born (with Space Dementia occasionally thrown in as a special treat). I can actually see Supremacy remaining fairly regular, either in the encore or 2nd/3rd in the main set. Madness will remain a staple - I can imagine it in the encore and/or becoming a bit of a b-stage moment, or just staying in a similar place to where it is now. I think Panic Station will be fairly regular, but could rotate with Map, with a leaning towards Panic Station (sadly), or even rotate with SMBH - which they've shown isn't immune to being dropped.
I hope Animals gets the occasional outing, and Liquid State's future depends on whether there are any Chris songs on the new album. If there's still a 'Chris slot' in the set, then it may occasionally be thrown in. And given Matt's form with bringing Guiding Light back for no good reason, I wouldn't entirely rule out Explorers occasionally being thrown into the piano rotation
Unsustainable and Isolated System will be dropped I think with them being quite specific to this album/tour theme

Hmm yes, was going for whatever they were trying to achieve with Starlight closing but not sure Blackout is the best option, just the first that popped into my head

I kind of agree to be honest. As impressive as they are live, ultimately a band is judged on their recorded output, and that's suffered recently in my opinion. I think a good break from touring might do them good.

The 2nd Law General Tour Evaluation - every 3rd setlist is shit
in Tours
Posted
Only saw one arena show and one stadium show, but...
Positives
- Mixing the setlist up more
- Dead Star
- The stage set, especially the stadium one, which was my favourite since HAARP
Negatives
- Gimmicks; actors, the roulette (don't tease me with Stockholm Syndrome before playing a half tempo New Born instead - dicks), acrobats
- Set pacing (first encore of stadium shows)
- Matt pretending to be Chris Martin
- Guiding Light and Undisclosed Desires
For the record, I enjoyed my one Resistance tour show more than either of the shows I saw on this tour, but this tour was more interesting to follow on here
