  1. Hey guys, these are the last two songs ever from my college band. give 'em a listen

    produced and engineered by myself

mixed and mastered by Beau from Saosin.

I dime'd my Oranges to track those guitar parts. Pretty gnarly guitar tones.

I am also heavily considering doing a limited pressing to 7" vinyl.

  2. going to download them now, i'll let you know

    what did you think?

I have been listening to them pretty vigorously and think that maybe the vocals are a little too dark.

    additional opinions would be appreciated.

    by the way...

branson t-shirts came in... I think they look super gnarly.

  3. I did some stuff besides roots on the bass, but not much since it isn't the focal point of the song. Thanks for listening to the tune. I am finishing the master track tomorrow. The bass isn't mixed as low as you think it might be, its probably your lap top speakers.

  4. hey, could you guys give me your opinions on this mix i just finished this morning. Its a remix of a song we recorded 9 or so months ago. I used the drum tracks from the recording we did for our EP that is being mixed and I retracked the guitars with my AD30 and Rocker 30.

    its called "LightAMatch_MixDown"

let me know what you guys think of the mix. I would like to get a lot of opinions on it so I can polish it more (If need be) before i replace the old recording with this one on the myspace.

    thanks.

  5. So I just bounced the drums/guitars tracks for our demo disc from the studio comp to my harddrive. Basically this is 30 minutes of just distorted guitar bombast with my amps and guitars. So the drums are edited but i threw only a minuscule EQ on them so they would be easier to distinguish while tracking guitars. The guitars are not mixed (and no EQ or any of the jazz) or edited, so that will explain random bleed and stuff.

I used both a Unidyne American made SM57 and a Sennheiser MD421 on the guitars (both on the same speaker then blended them together). Right now both mics are at equal volume, when I mix I will probably pull the 57 up a little more, but probably not by much.

Here is what I used for guitars

    Distortion...

    Rhythm - Gibson LP Std. + Marshall JCM800 2205

    Lead (or 2nd guitar) - G&L ASAT Classic + Marshall 6100 (EL34) -- ch 2.c

    3rd guitar (2nd lead & some pm parts) - Gibson SG std. + H&K Duotone (KT77)

    Cleans...

    1st guitar - G&L on split p/u + 6100

    2nd guitar - G&L on neck p/u + H&K duotone

All amps were running through my Mesa 212 recto cab (vintage 30s).

I didn't really use the duotone that much on these recordings. These tracks are a raw as you get. Enjoy.

all the guitars are in mono (sorry). I think the only thing panned are the drums' overhead mics.

oh yeah, the kit was a pearl masters maple kit.

I am mainly posting this for all the gear heads (i know there are a lot here) to hear sexy ampage. Also, let me know what you think of the songs even though they are lacking piano, vocals, and bass.

  6. I really like the song. But theres one thing, and please dont take it offensive, but either you need to tone it down, or the rest of the band need to tone it up. Theres nothing wrong with all these movey stuff your pulling off, but with your bassist and singer glued to the spot, it makes you the odd one out, and its not a good look when theres one guy really into and the rest not.

yeah, the bassist was filling in since our normal bassist was out of town. I think josh will realize he needs to move around more once he sees this video.

  7. Surprisingly good! Even if you were trying to be tongue-in-cheek, you did it well, haha. I would listen to that on a regular basis, I have to say :p

haha awesome. I am still mixing the 3rd demo. We plan on hopefully recording 7 songs and an emo-tized cover of coldplay's fix you in march.

  8. I haven't posted on this board in a while, but a lot of you peeps still know me. Anyways recently I have been working on ridiculous, epic emo music with a friend. Our whole goal is to be as generic as possible, but by trying to do so we ended up becoming somewhat original. Anyways a rough mix of our MOST EPIC song is up at:

Be prepared to shit your pants at 5:19. It is fucking epic.

    ...and ridiculous.

Tell me what you guys think. Thanks.

  9. $90. :)

Ohhh and you're gonna be in LA this summer?

that is correct I head for LA by car on the 24th of this month. And I just might take you up on that offer. I just need to sell my damn pearl double kick.
