Matt uses a guitar that is half a step down to record, he starts on the 9th fret on the first guitar note of the song (would be 8th fret on standard tuning). You can see it on the Making of 2nd Law video.

Also, I am in the process of tabbing animals, do you mean this clean solo part? The tab below is for Standard Tuning, with the low E dropped to Eb (necessary to play the riff at the end of the song).

E |----------------------------------------------------------|
B |----------------------------------------------------------|
G |------------11-15-13-11-13-11-10h11p10---10---------------|
D |----------13---------------------------13--13-11--11------|
A |--------13--------------------------------------14--14-13-|
Eb|---12-15--------------------------------------------------|

E |-------------------------------------------------------------|
B |------------12-16-14-12-14-12-11h12p11---11------------------|
G |----------13---------------------------13--13-11-13-11-10----|
D |--------13------------------------------------------------13-|
A |---11-14-----------------------------------------------------|
Eb|-------------------------------------------------------------|

This sounds good, thanks.

This sounds good, thanks.

Feel free to refine it and post it here, I want to know what I did wrong :D

Btw has anyone been able to tab unsustainable yet?

Also, in case anyone gives a damn, I'm almost done with the Animals tab, after nearly 30 hours of listening to the same parts over over again as well as scrutinizing Matt's hands in every live show and in the making of 2nd law DVD. Not easy I must say.

Has anyone tabbed what Matt plays live in Madness? (everything but the solo)

I'm also interested in this. He's actually going up the fretboard where as the chords normally would be played going downward. I've tried searching the web for alternative ways to play G, F and Bb but to no luck, but the best video to watch could maybe be the one at jools.

Hi guys I found a tab on UG.com for Micro Cuts, i think it is the only accurate one as the other tab for Micro Cuts on there has the the first part of the chorus tabbed as

D-555555554444444455555555

A-555555550000000055555555

D-555555550000000055555555

this seems too simple, as does the rest of the chorus in general on that particular tab, the accurate tab ive found shows this for the first part

e-66666666--------------66666666

B-88888888--------------88888888

G-77777777--------------77777777

D-555555550000000055555555

A-555555550000000055555555

D-555555554444444455555555

however, for a later part in the chorus, the same tab also shows this, which seems impossible to frett due to the apparent need for 5 available fingers to frett, not 4:

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

B-9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9

G-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

D-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

A-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

I don't know if it's just me, but I find it impossible to frett this :( any ideas?

I do 5-5-5-7 and 0-0-4-7 for the first two chords, will get baack to you on the fingering on the others later (hurr) since I don't have a guitar near me at the moment

The tab book made a mistake.

It's just a simple G minor chord. Move the 9 to 11.

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

B-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11

G-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

could anyone give me tabs for the part in this video Matt plays? (from around 4:02 til 4:30) havent been able to find them on UG :/

This is not accurate at all, you'll hear it if you play along.

G 0h3--0h3--3/5--5/7--9--10--10--10--8--7--8---8--8--7--5--7--7--7--5--3--5--5--3--1--0

And then the same an octave higher, also on the G string.

The tab book made a mistake.

It's just a simple G minor chord. Move the 9 to 11.

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

B-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11

G-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

D-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

A-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

So it was just that tiny tiny mistake that put me off from learning the song for a long time? Damn...

I'm currently doing a guitar cover of Space Dementia (the whole song, not just the outro) unusual idea i know, and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas fr the verse, as just strumming the chords doesnt seem good enough, is there perhaps a tab that can correctly "translate" the feel of the way it's played on piano to guitar?
