musecasters
i thought he was just using the speakers of the amp as a on-stage monitor?
james90
i thought he was just using the speakers of the amp as a on-stage monitor? he does, though i'm not entirely sure if the amp itself is actually in use on stage, or if the speakers are being driven by something else. i've heard it was used on the last album, though
musecam123
He said in the Aus Guitar interview that the Dickinson is only used as a monitor speaker and that the signal from his amp and cab mic'd up backstage runs through it.
cheddatom
he said it was used as a monitor, he didn't say whether they just used the speakers, or if they use the amp as well, does it?
musecam123
Says its used as a monitor speaker, so I'd say the actual amp isn't used.
cheddatom
You're just making an assumption. The wording is ambiguous!
musecam123
The magazine says: ag I know you favoured a Dickinson amp on The Resistance. Do you use that live? MB: I do use that live at the moment, but only as my moniter speaker. I have my main amps and speakers mic'd up offstage and then I run the signal into the Dickinson which is onstage directly behind me. So by the looks of things its just the speakers... Neil.
I think i'm with cam on this one. dont think there's any ambiguity about it really.
cheddatom
"monitor speaker". He doesn't say what's driving the speaker. He says it has a feed from his amps back stage, but we don't know if this is a powered signal or not. It's probably ambiguous.
haze015
I think i'm with cam on this one. dont think there's any ambiguity about it really. Monitors are powered speakers. And the photo Olly posted, there's only one lead going into the back of the amp, which you'd assume is the power, there's no other leads going into it where you'd connect to the speakers. I always thought Matt had a cab/amp on stage specifically for feedback.
OllySK
If there's just the one lead then that could be a speacon cable coming out of a power amp off stage, but then it could also be a power cable as you say and then it's connected wirelessly. All we really know is that the only reason Matt uses it is because it's shiny.
