daveno1
Hey I have a Boss DD-7 and Im getting really annoyed at constantly bending over and changing delay times inbetween songs in a set. How the fuck do other bands do this without bending down? Im into Paramore at the moment and I noticed the guitarist uses the boss giga delay. Can that store settings so they can be easily changed between songs?
Neil.
expression pedal??? isnt that for tempo or something??
teej212
get a tap tempo. the DD7 has a tap tempo switch option
haze015
Use the tap tempo on the DD7 or get a second delay pedal and have that set to something. The DD7 is a better pedal than the DD20.
teej212
i will agree with that^ not a fan of the dd20
the_man361
im guessing pro bands use midi control messages to set tempo.

Josh would be using tap tempo on the DD-20, so I'd buy a Boss FS-5U (un-latched pedal) and use it to tap tempo on the DD-

Impulse 101
I use a TC Nova Delay, it has 9 presets and Tap Tempo. It's not too expensive and it sounds very good, better than most Boss pedals that I've used. Even in my big ass MIDI rig where every setting is programmed by segment for each song, I still have a tap tempo pedal, just in case the tempos get noticeably out of sync. Tap tempo is an absolute must, never leave home without it. JT
Dramatic Hammer
Or just don't worry about it being in time - I have my DMM in a rack so it's nearly impossible to change settings... Works fine
daveno1
The problem with tap temp is that if im using delay for intro to a song without a click track or drums starting its hard to get tempo of song if u get me. and if i use tap temp and then turn it off for a chorus for example and press delay back on will it reset or still be same time as tapped earlier? Grinning Death
So.... A pedal that would make sense to have incorporated into the guitar is the delay pedal surely? For ease of changing. If I could get my Carbon Copy into a guitar I'd do it without hesitation. That thing is crazy when you play with the knobs lolololol.

Surely you have some idea of the tempo of the song? And if the drummer is coming in at a different tempo, you need a new drummer.
cheddatom
What happened to Jons name?!?!?!? I have a DD20 and I think it's ace. Why is the DD7 better? Can you store patches on that too?

Yeah but keep in mind that delay before (high) gain will muffle up the delay repeats.

If I was the kind of guy who fits pedals into his guitar these trivialities would not bother me.

No theres no presets on dd7 thats why i might get a dd20 And the other thing that annoys me is when u click the delay off it doesnt stop dead like the dl4
Impulse 101
There are companies other than Boss. Look around, there are far better delays these days. JT

To be honest i've not used it much, mainly just on drums, and you don't tend to notice the tails while you're playing drums. I like that on the marshall echohead you plug into either one output which includes natural decay, or the other output which cuts it dead (or both for stereo). Listen to impulse though. I really like the look and sound of the TC electronic stuff.

Not on individual presets, but for the whole unit.
cheddatom
yeh but DL4s tend to break from what i've heard.
Flump
yeh but DL4s tend to break from what i've heard. They definitely have a rep for it, but I've owned two of them for about 6 years now that I used mainly for looping acoustic shit and neither has ever failed. Maybe I got lucky. cheddatom
why do you have two? To be fair if it's acoustic stuff I doubt you're going mental and stamping on the pedal hard.
Flump
why do you have two? To be fair if it's acoustic stuff I doubt you're going mental and stamping on the pedal hard. Looping vocals and looping guitar. Each is run through a separate chain of pedals. Fun stuff although I haven't done it in a year or so at least. Very true about not stamping on them hard. Since I'm trying to get the loop dead on I'm usually fairly gentle/accurate. You can also replace the switches on the DL4 fairly easily and solve all the breakage problems. The only problem I have with one of mine is beer got spilled on it and some of the knobs are sticky. IB sure it was beer.
