Will Of The People

The new album will likely make high chart appearances at iTunes and Apple Music in possibly over 80 markets around the world when it drops on Friday and debut at No. 1 on the national album sales tallies in close to 20 countries.  Unfortunately, it apparently will not be commercially available in Russia where it would likely have topped the iTunes downloads sales chart.

Will it sell more or fewer units than their last studio album Simulation Theory did in its first week in November 2018 in the UK (44K) and the USA (38k)?

Will it debut at the top of both the Album Sales and Vinyl Albums chart in the USA and enter the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart?

Stay tuned for updates this coming weekend and early next week when sales projections are released.

Third single 'WOTP' has entered the Mainstream/Active Rock Radio Airplay charts (#37 Mediabase/#41 Billboard) in America this week along with 'Yen' by Slipknot and 'Tippa My Tongue' by RHCP while 'Compliance' has peaked at #13 at Alternative.

In the above populist parody track Matt alters one of the lyrics: ...Will of the people, the will of the sheeple...

This songwriting duo composed a song in 1964 with the following lyrics:  ...Talking is cheap, people follow like sheep...  This song featuring high pitched vocals was covered by a British band and spent 3 weeks at No. 1 on the UK pop charts in 1967 and reached No. 11 in America.  They also composed a song which reached No. 2 on the US pop charts in 1967 and was later covered and recorded by MUSE.  Details follow below.

The UK Official Albums Chart Midweek Update has been delayed due to the bank holiday on Monday.  News about the top selling albums this past weekend in the United Kingdom should therefore be released on Tueday by the Official Charts Company.   Other weekly album sales updates in the USA, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands and Belgium should become known later this week.

SPOTIFY Top Album Debuts (August 26-28, 2022):

#4 Will Of The People (GLOBAL)

#7 Will Of The People (USA)

New releases from DJ Khaled, JID, and TWICE occupy the top three positions on both of the above streaming charts.

The 1,000 copies of the  limited edition NFT format  of the WOTP album reportedly sold out in 25 minutes according to the OCC.  The Zoetrope limited vinyl edition of 8,000 units also sold out earlier this month.

Meanwhile, album title track 'WOTP' last week became the band's 12th song to chart on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay tally in America.  It debuted at #34 on that survey while at Mediabase it ascended seven places to #30.

Origin of Symmetry (XX Anniversary RemiXX) re-entered at #6 in 2021 with 5,052 sales (6% of the sales were for the original mixes of the old version of Origin of Symmetry which peaked at #3 in 2001).
