scottycydonia
Was thinking about this the other day... KOC has usually only been played as an opener or closer for gigs! If it wasn't... where on the setlist would you put it and between which songs?

Gareeh
i'm pretty sure you're wrong. but it is an opener and closer, i don't think it fits anywhere else, it's the nature of the song.

Bluefish
I would put it at the beginning of an encore. But frankly, I'm sick of it. It does not need to be the last song at every single gig this tour. That's just ridiculous. I also feel it works much better as an opener than a closer, but that's just my opinion. The end isn't that epic. With the Space Dementia outro, on the other hand...

Phill
yeah, i'm bored of it too, especially with the harmonica intro. that was cool as a one off, not every gig...
Clunge
2/3s of the song is crap anyways, the riffage is the only fun part of it. The rest sounds like loads of disjointed bits of song shoved together.

Matty987
Personally i love Knights as a closing song, i love the simple lyrics which adds to the song IMO But it's true, it has been DRAMATICALLY overused as a closer this tour, it would be nice to have it dropped in mid set, just so people presumed that the concert was over, then for Muse to carry on which would make you far more on edge as to what was coming next. But if it was used mid set i dont imagine i would enjoy any other song as a closer except for SS, and thats not exactely original either is it... DownAndOut
I'm not sure what they should play after it. However I think that City Of Delusion, Hoodoo and Knights Of Cydonia sound so good together that they should play them together during live shows too. Mozza
Why are they still playing the harmonica intro? It's been 2 years now There are plenty of songs they could use as a closer: Showbiz New Born Bliss Stockholm Syndrome Take a Bow Unnatural Selection MK Ultra Redemption I'd still keep Knights in the set, it's a single that is really upbeat but it could either close the main set or open the encore sometimes. Would just make the encores a bit more exciting for people who aren't so familiar with Muse.
L.
Asking Muse not to finish a gig with MWAH+KoC now is like asking a child to give up their security blanket. They are used to it, it works well, does what it says on the tin, so no real incentive for them to change things around.

I don't mind Knights as a closer, it fits the bill well but why still the harmonica? Ironically Knights might work better with a riff at the end, instead of having riffs after practically every other guitar song on the set
Matty987
There are plenty of songs they could use as a closer: Showbiz New Born Bliss Stockholm Syndrome Take a Bow Unnatural Selection MK Ultra Redemption For me, a closing song has to have a relatively slow start, that has a huge creschendo to epicness, which is what knights does perfectly. The only other songs i can imagine that with out of your list is Showbiz, and Take a Bow, both of which have been proven to be good closers. I understand SS goes against the slow start point but it's also a proven good closer. I love reemption and it could make a good encore closer, but i wouldn't like it to be the last memory from the concert, and US/MK/NB/bliss all work too well mid set for me to imagine them as closers

I personally don't get Take a Bow as a closer, it's vastly superior as an opener. Bliss in 2001/02 looked exceptional as a closer. If they're not willing to try anything new then Knights will be closing until they retire

I miss the days in 2003 when Muse did really tiny shows before their tours to work on having different setlist orders and play through different songs even if the tour itself was more static (far more flexible than this one mind). http://www.musewiki.org/Brussels_Ancienne_Belgique_2003_%28gig%29 http://www.musewiki.org/Cologne_2003_%28gig%29 http://www.musewiki.org/London_Maida_Vale_Studios_2003-09_%28gig%29 http://www.musewiki.org/Milan_MTV_Studios_2003_%28gig%29 http://www.musewiki.org/Helsinki_Nosturi_2003_-_12th_%28gig%29 http://www.musewiki.org/London_Wembley_Arena_2003_%28gig%
GSMU7
I think knights of cydonia should close the main set before the encore. showbiz would be good to close with but that wouldnt happen. i like take a bow to close the gig cos it fits perfectly
Phantasma Del Mar
It needs to stay. Whether it opens/closes the main set/encore, I don't want it to go anywhere. The song absolutely slays live and is one of the best things the bands ever written.

Maybe tht could return, tho tbh i quite like the harmonica (tho IMO it would make intro to CE, Hysteria or TIRO, since it ends up on A minor i believe) I don't like TAB as a closer, IMO it's best as an opener or an encore opener (like the current stadium tour)
