Hysteria discussion thread

This was the first Muse song I heard. I remember hearing this song and being blown away by the instrumentals and how the singer used his vocals to compliment them. As soon as I found out the track and band I bought every album, dvd etc... Music was nothing to me until I discovered Muse.

Since its debut nearly 20 years ago now, this album has been put through every critique possible for a disc. Some have said it's too big. Too slick. Too excessive. I have to disagree, one hundred percent. These songs sound enormous, they are gigantic and just reach right out of your speakers and grab you by the throat. That's the way hard rock should be, with or without the hairband gloss.

Right, because this thread is to discuss the Def Leppard album, not the Muse song.

Amen to that.

Hysteria is great, been playing it on my bass for a while now. Fun to play :)

Wow, how have I not posted here before? Well, since the thread's been bumped, why not? :chuckle:

Hysteria was my first "favorite" Muse song. Back when I was starting to listen to them, it was the first song that made me go "WOW!" and then listen to it again and again  The bassline is hott as hell, I love the guitar solo, and the words are so powerful and emotional (to me, at least :p)

Even though I've found other songs that I've also fallen head-over-heels for, Hysteria will always be one of my top favorites.

I love it when Matt plays along with Chris in the intro as seen on this tour, sounds so epic!

Been listening to instrumentals lately and it just makes me wanna pick up a bass and play this riff/song.

Is it hard to play?

I learnt the bass riff on guitar. It isn't hard to play once you get the picking and rhythm of it. The way that I learnt it was, play the riff really slow in one part. (There is a part on the A string, shifts to the E string, then D string then back to the A string) and I repeated the first A string bit over and over, then the same with the E and D string bit.

I hope that makes sense and it helps you :)
