NME greatest guitarist ever!!

... Why is John Lennon even on there? The Beatles were definitely not the best musicians but they were phenomenal songwriters! (Don't think I'm dissing them because I LOVE them!)

If Lennon is on there over Harrison, then there's something seriously wrong there.

Bellamy is a good guitarist, just too much technology these days (Almost to the point of a guitar for each song) and ultimately beginning to fail to push boundaries with it all. I mean, the Kaoss Pad just seems like a toy how Bellamy uses it, especially when you consider that Matt could be looping his guitar with the KP, then going to town on it by messing about with the sample and adding effects rather than a glorified Morello solo.

Great guitarists push what they have to it's limits, not use a bit of that potential.

I just bumped him up to top spot, I think :p

List needs moar SRV though. No way is Matt the greatest guitarist ever... greatest musician of the 21st century, definitely... but greatest guitarist ever? Not sure.

If the list had Stevie Ray Vaughan, I woulda voted for him. If not Stevie, Jeff Beck, and if not Beck, Mark Knopfler.

Ok, why is this Horror first? Why is Jimy Hendrix only at the 5th and Jimmy Page at 10th place? Wtf? Where is Vai? Where is Gilmour? Where is Knopfler? Why is Macca even in this poll? Doesn't he play the bass? I wouldn't be suprised if NME put Freddie Mercury in this poll, after all he did have a guitar in his hands few times:rolleyes:.

suprised how high jack white and the horrors guy is, and how low slash, hendrix and clapton are..

Jack White is an utterly superb guitarist, one of the best today and I've only got the first Horrors album & EP and wouldn't rate him as a great guitarist, but got a fair amount of respect for the band because of their love for a great range of great music, there are few other bands today that would cover Screaming Lord Sutch, Suicide etc and pay tribute to bands like Suicide through a similarly intense live show.

Don't rate guys like Vai at all, good for people who know fuck all about guitar, but it's talentless compared to a quality folk/blues/flamenco/other soloy acoustic type stuff where they are playing multiple lines rather than one.
