Mizutsu Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Hello. If you know me, I love Absolution a lot. Before you go and say that this thread is futile, it's not. Matt said after a Bliss performance recently that it was dedicated to the message boards. So I believe that if this thread gets enough attention, we could get a few goodies dedicated to this board's fanbsse of Absolution lovers. So Muse have been throwing in songs like Bliss and Citizen Erased to the setlist. It's fantastic, but what about Absolution? If they're timid on playing soft songs like SfA and FAWY to an energetic crowd, think about the second half of the album! How awesome would it be to see TSP, Furt, or Thoughts of a Dying Atheist (arguably some of their heaviest songs) in a set? And for emotional bits, replace Guiding Light and Neutron Star Collision with Endlessly and Blackout/Ruled By Secrecy? How about the magnificent monster of Absolution, Butterflies and Hurricanes, which fares so well live to a screaming crowd? It's time we saw a miracle, come on, it's time we get some Absolution. Sample setlist WITH Absolution: Uprising MoTP Fury New Born Butterflies and Hurricanes Undisclosed Desires USoE Hysteria MK Ultra Resistance Starlight Blackout Bliss Unnatural Selection Exogenesis Overture ToaDA Take a Bow PiB SS KoC Just a little Absolution was all it took to make this ordinary setlist extraordinary, while still keeping many songs from The Resistance and old favorites from other albums. Note: Please discuss only Absolution's role in the setlist here (no complaining about how OoS/Showbiz should get more songs too). Cheers
HenryW7 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 hmmmmmmmm I love Absolution: but a realistic staple set WITH absolution for a stadium for me would go: Hysteria 1. Uprising New Born Supermassive Black Hole Butterflies and Hurricanes 2. Map of the Problemaituque MK Ultra Sing for Absolution 3. Citizen Erased Space Dementia Ruled By Secrecy 4. United States of Eurasia Undisclosed Desires Resistance Starlight Fury 5. Time is Running Out 6. Plug In Baby Knights of Cydonia Unintended Blackout 7. Tofu Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 If you think about it, there's actually not that much Resistance on the setlists. ESPECIALLY Showbiz (because it's underrepresented by a lot) and Absolution (Because it's awesome)
arelagord Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Definatly needs to be more Showbiz. I mean what was the last gig where a song from the Showbiz era (with the exeption of Nishe and HoRS riff)?
Clom Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Definatly needs to be more Showbiz. I mean what was the last gig where a song from the Showbiz era (with the exeption of Nishe and HoRS riff)? Estadio Vicente Calderón- 16th of June. Unintended, which is arguably one of the worst songs off Showbiz.
Luigi. Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 It sounded to me like Matt said the dedication to the messageboards in a sarcastic manner. Anyways I agree, the setlists do need Apocalypse Please,Sing For Absolution,The Small Print,Blackout,Ruled By Secrecy and B&H.
