SpiralStatic1
Because the lines "destroy the spineless, show me it's real" make so much sense on its own. E-e-r... They do. On it's own as a separate line? Yeah, i don't think so. And I doubt that guy listened to this line only)))) and figured out the lyrics like "Joe" and "Rio" possible. Alec Ferris
I always thought the "disguise" in Megalomania was saying "dead skies", so that whole song made no sense to me at all. Ditto
Jazzthief
I always thought the "disguise" in Megalomania was saying "dead skies", so that whole song made no sense to me at all. Well, I found out just now. I also thought that it was "dead skies"
serpentsatellite
I'm sure the "dead skies" one is really common - I thought that for quite a while as well.
maturefan
'Link it to the world Link it to yourself Stretch it like it's a birth squeeze' I honestly thought Matt was singing: 'Stretch it like it's a butt squeeze.'
serpentsatellite
Unfortunately, that's hardly worse than the original lyric :'(
mskatie
"Birth squeeze" at least makes more sense because the song is called New Born.
Hopix
I had no idea what the chorus of Megalomania was until I looked it up. Same. Then when I found out, it became my new favourite Muse lyric.

maturefan
I'm reading 'Out of this world: the story of Muse' by Mark Beaumont and he says that the opening lyrics on Space Dementia are 'H8 is the one for me.' I'm pretty sure Matt sings '18 is the one for me.' Why would anyone think '18' sounds like 'H8?'

TheRD101Person
It is H8. And it sounds H8. But I always thought he meant Height. I'm pretty sure H8 means Height, because he's clearly saying H8 in the song, but the lyrics booklet that comes with OoS says Height.
kueller
The lyric book was wrong. How do H8 and Height sound similar anyways?
FabriPav
Yeah I can't see how you all could hear anything but H-8 there.
serpentsatellite
I actually heard "ancient" the first time I heard it, but figure it out pretty quickly.
Hat
The question is, how could you possibly hear 18?
serpentsatellite
I can't hear 18, but I think H8 is an easy thing to NOT hear, since it doesn't immediately make any sense. I remember reading Matt's comments about what it meant... and my brain kind of hurting.

Hat
I kept hearing "hate" Don't get how that's possible either since the h in hate is barely pronounced, as opposed to "aitch", which he sings. Or even more simply, hate has one syllable, Matt sings two.
serpentsatellite
Or even more simply, hate has one syllable, Matt sings two. Like that's ever stopped him before. I was told it was "hate" back in the day, (I assume a misunderstanding of H8 on the part of a friend) and I could hear it after that - but it was highly due to suggestibility Seriously, though, who would think "H Eight" and think that was really it? FabriPav
Like that's ever stopped him before. Seriously, though, who would think "H Eight" and think that was really it? wat And that's beyond the point. Hearing H8 and thinking "is he really singing H8? Wtf does that mean?" is one thing, hearing "hate" or "18" when he clearly does not pronounce them is weird.
