Muse's cover of U2's 'Where the Streets Have No Name' with The Edge

Recommended Posts

I thought it was just amazing. The Edge is just really cool anyway and there are probably some die hard U2 fans out there who were a bit miffed at the cover but totally changed their minds by the end lol

I'm just wondering if it's possible to love Muse even more than I do now!!!!

PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one who screamed and cried my eyes out. :chuckle:

It was so emotional and I still don't know exactly why. I'm a HUGE U2 fan, I have been all my life. Of course I'm a huge Muse fan too so this was one of the most amazing things I ever saw.

I can only imagine how all the fans felt that were actually there!

A bit of a let down with The Edge as the very very special guest, but very nice cover! Loved to see Matt having so much fun.

It's a bit worrying though that Matt only seems this happy when he is playing covers :p

The original song was shit . That cover was even worse

Biggest  moment of my life :p

Nonsense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but Where The Streets Have No Name is timeless and U2 - Joshua Tree is one of the greatest albums ever made.

So beautiful.

I was wondering, am i the only who think that matt's voice was close to bono voice (only on that wonderful cover) ?

I was upset when i read yesterday that matt wanted to do something with bono for this show. So what a surpise to see this cover featuring The Edge . A very good surprise :awesome::dance:

That was epic!!!!!!! And the smile on Matts face was uplifting, it looked like he had alot of fun, his voice was amazing and though similar to Bono's it isn't the same. It's like trying to compare Adam Lambert , to Matthew Bellamy, you just can't (though Matt to Bono isn't even close to as bad of a comparison as Lambert to Bellamy)

I'm with you!!

I couldn't believe that was happening, Where the Streets is my favourite U2 song and it was epic! They even used the characteristic red lights during the song :awesome::awesome:

I've never seen The Edge bounce, and he did it and it was absolutely fabulous!!! I don't mind that Matt messed up a little bit with the lyrics... he can do anything he wants hahaha

Matt looked so happy :matt::matt:, I'm glad he did after all the gossip and criticisms from the past week. I don't know how many times I've seen the video , I wish they would release this cover as a B side :D

I thought they sounded similar too, in a really strange, subtle way.

U2 is my second favourite band. When I heard those synths kick in I knew exactly what it was, and I practically died. I could hardly believe that of all the bands I chose to follow closely, I picked the one that would cover Streets @ Glastonbury with The Edge. I had the stream playing through the speakers, and when my dad heard the intro he rushed downstairs all excited :p

Un-fuckin-real

As for Matt, he sounded like a younger Bono, like listen to Where the Streets have no Name from the Joshua Tree tour. Mind you Bellamy is like 20yrs younger than Bono, so it's no wonder :p

Oh, Imagine the Muse haters new arguments. "Matt is just a big Bono wannabe", "That singer in The Muse is just trying to sound like Bono". :chuckle:

As much as I wanted to hear Muse play a rocking rarity, I love U2 and I love Where The Streets Have No Name especially since my Vancouver Canucks skate out to it for every game.

Muse did this song justice and the fact that Edge was there just put it over the top. It's very different to hear Matt's voice singing this over Bono's but it fits extremely nicely, really good contrast when Edge starts the backing vocals.

I will be listening to this over and over again thanks to MuseBootlegs :D

Normally I would be pissed for getting the likely choice of the 3 setlist poll songs but Citizen Erased + Where The Streets Have No Name? Good luck topping that. This is probably one of, if not the best covers Muse have ever done in their CAREER.

One thing pissed me off though.. I was watching this on my second screen while I was working and my boss comes in and he's like "wow he really can't sing can he?" but later he comes in and says he actually likes Muse but right then and there I wanted to give him the back of my hand.
