Finally heard more than one track off of Showbiz, quite disappointed by the metal medley. it would've been much better if they just did a couple of the tracks in full, back to back with a couple of non-Muse riffs or Agitated/Yes Please after.

Y’know what though, just listing songs aside, I’ve been thinking a lot over my last few Muse gigs about just some of the big milestone things that I’m genuinely so grateful for ‘cos if you’d told young pre-gigging me these’d happen I’d have cried or laughed or both:

- Seeing them live full stop, genuinely didn’t even know it was possible when I was 13

- Been on the barrier at some small shows and seen them right in front of me

- Camped out overnight with other fans

- Travelled to other countries

- Seeing my all time favourite album in full

- Seeing my #1 song (Bliss) and a bunch of the other top 10/20 like TAB, PIB, Map, Assassin, Showbiz, Dead Star, New Born, Screenager, Darkshines, MM, Space Dementia, Fury - a lot I never ever EVER thought I would

- Meeting the band and getting my fave album covers signed

- Having a request granted (seriously wtf, this still doesn’t seem real)

- Getting a drumstick and setlist

- Seeing them at my 2 main bucket list venues (SBE + RAH)

I love this band so much man, these are a lot of my absolute best memories. All that’s really left in my imagination, other than to carry on seeing new songs, is to meet them properly one-on-one so we can actually somewhat chat and somehow play music with them (lmao I know but they did do that competition thing a while back).

I'm quite fortunate in the songs I've seen live compared to some. This list made me remeber how KOC wasn't always the closer one gig it was middle of the set, starlight was weird closer once. How I love the Tab >PiB>KoC closer in 2010. More than anything I miss the old setlist, I know bands evolve Ann all that but oh for those memories.

Reflections even though I should wait until next year when it's a decade of Muse shows.

- Seeing them at all is big. It was still such a big moment when I first saw them get on stage, even though I was far away.

- Seeing my favorite song (B&H) live.

- Traveled across the state to see them. The travel ended up being more fun than the show itself (Drones arena tour). It was a nice journey there and back.

- Seeing them across the world. I can say with experience now the crowds here are incomparable.

- I've seen a few rarer songs even if it's a joke of a list compared to the other regulars here. A few cool riffs and jams too.

- Met Dom in person and saw him play with Vicky Cryer, as well as meeting a .mu member for the first time (I wish I could meet more).

- Met Dom in person

Nahhhh how did that go? Just in passing or did you actually get to talk?

Dom may be the one I’d wanna chat to most. I mean, he is already the one I’ve talked to most but for, like, seconds in total  I still believe it was ultimately him that got me Assassin at the O2 so maybe that plays a part but he just seems so friendly. Had a big, genuine smile each of the 3/4 times I’ve interacted with him.

I’d love to pick Matt’s brain since he seems to have a v active one and he obvs has the appeal of actually writing the songs I love but he does have an air of intimidation about him, despite being 5’6/7 :chuckle:

I got a quick handshake and hello with Dom but spent a decent amount of time with Matt at SBE. I know they say you should never meet your heroes but he was super friendly and chatty...he even asked if they played many of my voted songs. It was great hearing him talk about Showbiz and Assassin and he made time for everyone, which was lovely. He's the same height as me and that took me back a little, I always thought he was taller.

Much harder to chat to Chris (missed out on the football matches in 2010) but I'd love to chat bass with him sometime.

It was just in passing. We all said hello to him as the band walked in the door. I think he hanged around after but I had to go home.

Ah, similar to my first time as well then, just mine was after a gig. Still a v special feeling to this day though, I agree :yesey: (tho you were probs more composed than I was lmao)

Noooo major jel. Looking back I kinda wish I’d stayed after SBE, my +1 did and met Matt properly as well, but I was wretching after the whole 24 hours and had a plane to catch so i thought, meh, another time :chuckle: did you not freeze up when he spoke to you? I barely managed to croak out “c c c can you sign this please” and “good gig btw” to him at Manchester Academy  I guess I was a bit bolder at the O2 but, even then, you’re in a massive crowd and I remember thinking he wasn’t happy about my sign the first time

Aye, Chris naturally seems quite introverted as most people probs guess. Still perfectly friendly but I tend to prefer to just let him get wherever he’s going. Would love to play footy with him though.

Yeah Chris popped out for a little bit but he was with his small army of kids (which was adorable) so no one really shouted for him to come over.

Not really to be honest! Figured it'd probably be the one and only chance to speak to them so I just went for it :) He was really easy going so the conversation flowed pretty naturally from what I can remember. I forgot to mention RBS being my fav song but other than that it was pretty much a perfect encounter! The thing that still gets me is how he asked if I wanted to get a picture and laughed when I was like "hang on, I should really be asking you that!"

This is the saddest section of text I’ve seen on this board

Even I've surpassed that which is really sad.

I'm just dying to hear Map or TAB or something. Technically it's been broken by the Assassin riff, but I don't want to count the medley as individual tracks.

Linking to the discussion on the RAH thread about where that ranked, here’s how I’d list my gigs:

—- (All-timers)

Shepherd’s Bush

Leeds ‘11

—- (Special)

Manchester Academy

London O2 14th

Royal Albert Hall

—- (Great)

Old Trafford

Download

Belfast Vital

—- (Good/solid)

London O2 12th

Leeds ‘17

Manchester Arena

—- (Okay)

Etihad

Eiffel Tower

—- (Pretty naff)

London O2 15th

London O2 11th

Edit: was telling people outside RAH that I’d love to hit 100 gigs one day but I guess that’s only happening if they put out another 8/9 albums or I up my output to something mental

Not having seen Map is a travesty, but I’ve said before it’s easier to miss than people think! I didn’t get it for...6 years(?) and maybe 5 gigs after my first.

I've generally got lucky with Map of the Problematique - had it at 5/8 gigs. Always a very reliable live bopper that one. Though I don't know if the more electronic sounds of Simulation Theory makes it potentially likely to surface or if it'll just be shoved aside for new shit.

Edit: was telling people outside RAH that I’d love to hit 100 gigs one day but I guess that’s only happening if they put out another 8/9 albums or I up my output to something mental

Surely by this point the only way to do that is to get a job as part of the tour crew. Or win the lottery. :chuckle:

Wonder how many Muse fans (not including road crew) have seen that many, mind. I know of the fan who got Fury dedicated to her at Pittsburgh on T2L as it was her 100th, but are there many other known fans with that load of gigs on their roster out there, or at least north of 50?

Genuinely considered getting a qualification in some area of production at one point in the hopes of somehow getting into the Muse crew... :chuckle: if only you could get a season ticket for a tour

I feel like it’s probably a surprising amount, I spoke to just a couple of random people in the SBE queue who’d been to north of 50 and they can’t have been to far from my age. It’s not even so much a money thing ‘cos getting around a decent amount of Europe isn’t that bad, it’s more justifying it and not wanting to burn myself out. With 2019 and 2020 being my 10 year anniversaries of being a fan and seeing them for the first time though, I’m considering going a bit extra as a wee celebration.

Muse crates.

Curious to how this would work, or is it not already the setlist system? :chuckle:

I mean for that many shows it kinda is too.

Eh, not so much for me. Gig-going (particularly for Muse) is probably my main hobby tbh, it’s all I really spend owt on.

Don't Metallica have season tickets for their upcoming European Tour?

But yeah. There's probably a fair few who aren't here tbf, especially if you have personal experience of meeting some of them.

I would've done more but the burn-out was a real thing. Probably should've done more gigs back when tickets were cheaper tbh.
