I see it's already been sorted but I'll just drop in to say our official policy on personal pictures remains the same. I'm sure a lot of those pictures on a certain social networking page were acquired from personal accounts by people who should never have had access to them in the first place so it's best that we keep them away from here.

We don't go in for the kill and won't punish anyone for a genuine mistake but just try to remember in future cos even though most of you guys are no trouble at all that doesn't rule out the possibility that stalker-y fans are reading the forum hoping to find posts like that.

Oh and could we stay clear of discussions such as who has better boobs? I don't like that there seems to be a culture on this forum developing (in small sections) that does nothing but tear into Kate Hudson and to drag someone else (such as a previous partner) into it is even worse.

I see it happen in a lot of band fandoms and I really don't understand the desire to compare a band member's old partners and new partners. Personally I also dislike it as to me it's part of a whole bigger problem where women are socially conditioned to see other women as competition and compare each other all the time.

So, as I predicted, after an insightful and genuinely refreshing read, the only bloody thing that seems to have interested a lot of people/garnered a strong discussion from this feature is the fucking Kate Hudson bit . I wish people would get over it and stop prying into the band's personal lives.

Yes, ironically, the article is mainly 'personal', but it's not solely focused on their love lives. In fact, the KH thing was random and ruined it a bit, I felt. The rest of the story focuses more on the psychological implications being in a band has on each member and how they deal with certain difficult areas of their lives, so it was fascinating on those levels. I never would have associated Muse with 'celeb' status before, but now it seems a lot of fans are only interested in the typical 'celeb' gossip about them like who they're dating/what they're wearing/whether they've launched a new fragrance. Anyways, I know it's not everyone, and mods are dealing with it, but it's getting old and annoying verrrry quickly, lol.

We live in a culture where obsession with celebrity has sadly accelerated in the past ten years or so. Now the main motivation for getting into the public eye is just being famous for nothing (see Big Brother contestants) rather than having any actual talent where fame is often an unfortunate side effect.

So naturally people become obsessed with this crap (mostly published in women's magazines and gossip columns) because I dunno...maybe they think they want that lifestyle and reading about that stuff makes them feel it is accessible to them?

Not accusing anyone on this forum as going that extreme but I think the above crap bleeds even into the most sensible mind. I hate the shit magazines my sister buys yet if she leaves one lying around I'll get sucked into reading it. For example.

Basically we're constantly bombareded with the idea we should be interested in the mundane details of someone's life and we should aspire to live that way so it's no wonder people concentrate on one little thing when that's all (most of) the press will talk about.

And you don't really even need to seek the information out, a certain amount seeps in through the pics on the tabs by store checkouts and in headlines you see in the sidebar when looking at news stories.

I've found myself recognizing names/faces of some of these b-list celeb types and I don't have any clue who they are or why they're "famous", I only know them because always seeing their name/face plastered on magazines or websites.

Indeed, it's strange to suddenly realize that Muse are now in the same 'famous for what exactly?' league for a lot of people who 've never really heard any of their music. But some will dig further than SMBH and NSC and realize they made brilliant music.

I don't blame Twilight or KH, I blame Guiding Light, it all went pear-shaped from there:p

But to be fair it's more about medical specialists and not really about social conditioning....or perhaps it is, I see.

Wouldn't surprise me as I still think a lot of this is all about him trying to make Gaia jealous ["real girl" gets him no press, highly controversial actress with bad reputation ensures that it's practically thrown in her face ever time she passes a newsstand]. And yes, I realize that I am just speculating.

And I'm guessing that I'll probably get jumped all over for writing this, as it seems that I do for everything that I write, but something's been bothering me the past few weeks and today I was able to figure out what it is. It's how the whole Glasto thing has turned into the "Matt and Kate make it all public at Glasto" show. I can only imagine how incredibly emotional this show is going to be for Dom and his family, and to have it turned into such a circus about something as trivial and petty as M&K is, IMO, incredibly tasteless and insensitive to Dom. I'm in no way saying that Matt's directly responsible for this happening; if anything, I think it's the other person involved's publicists who have run with this. But Matt COULD and IMO SHOULD have laid down the law and pointed out how inappropriate it is to his new "friend" to choose this date for the setting of the feeding frenzy [i'm giving Matt the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't of his choosing.]

Whatever. I just hope that the show goes especially well for Dom and his family [and for Chris in light of his recent revelations about his past problems]. My admiration for both of them has grown unbelievably since the Times article. Class acts all the way, the two of them.

Or it could be that Dom would be just as happy not to have any attention on him. He's already stated that he just wants to be with his family and not do a lot of partying. I doubt he's given it much thought.

I hate the culture that has developed around celebrity gossip. I think it's practically a disease in our society where someone is built up and then efforts are made to knock them down again on the slightest thing, which makes everyone feel better about their own lives. The tabloids have become the new moral entrepeuneurs, dictating to everyone how life should be lived on the back of various indiscretions of the famous and the public jump on the bandwagon, though a lot of stuff is misreported, and doesn't understand or take into account the motivations or situations of the people involved.

I'm interested in the guys because I do genuinely care about them and want life to treat them well but I couldn't give a monkey's what Katie Price does with Peter Andre, what Tiger Woods does in his personal life or what some football manager does. I think it's sick basiically.

I agree. I don't think Matt is being insensitive at all and the current thing with Matt has no bearing on what Dom is going through.

What Dom is talking about is a personal thing between him and his family. I doubt it's something he would want broadcasted in all the tabloids. Nevertheless I'm sure of lot of fans will be thinking of Dom today.
