Trademarks and retailers have already spoiled the surprise, but Activision has officially announced Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock today.

 

The game will feature an all new "Quest Mode" where players will head on a rock journey to help the Demi-God of Rock take down "The Beast" and save rock. Players will play to enlist the help of and join forces with Guitar Hero characters, transforming them into "rock warriors." Gene Simmons of KISS fame will narrate the experience.

 

Warriors of Rock will feature the same "Party Play" jump-in and jump-out as Guitar Hero 5, but also adds a new experience called "Quickplay+." This mode adds 13 unique gameplay challenges to each song on the disc, as well as "most downloadable and importable songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour forward."

 

Activision is saying that this will be the most packed disc in terms of music ever, with more than 90 tracks from bands like Queen, Muse, KISS, Slayer, and more. Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has even written a song specifically for Warriors of Rock, called "Sudden Death," inspired by the game's quest mode.

Oh gross, DragonForce...:erm:

 

But then there's AFI and Foo Fighters and Jane's Addiction and Muse and MCR (because they actually picked one of their good songs) and Queen and Rammstein and Silversun Pickups to make up for it. :awesome:

 

But as has been said, they could have picked a better Muse song. Silversun Pickups and AFI are awesome choices though, because they picked ones that would be best for GH rather than just snatch their most popular songs.

glad Muse are on it! i would have put MK Ultra instead though (well actualy both ;))

 

ether way im happy, hopefully Muse will be on Power Gig (i think thats what its called :p)

and hopefully we will get a Muse only GH/RB sometime soon!!

Uprising is a very poor choice of song for the game. I love the song, but it's not a good fit for Guitar Hero at all. The guitar has almost no notes until after the first chorus, and the drums and bass are pretty repetitive the whole way through. Seems like a pretty boring song to play in terms of Guitar Hero.

 

I really think Hysteria is the best song for Guitar Hero. It is everything that makes the game great. It is a fun song to play and rock out to. It has challenging parts on all three instruments, and the song is not repetitive at all. There is a very varied and fun experience on each instrument in that song. It's perfect for Guitar Hero. That song should have been the one they chose.

cool, but...

:stunned: of all songs to justify muse's position as 'warriors of rock' in guitar hero....they pick uprising.

dont get me wrong, its not a bad song, just that they could have picked something other than one of their latest releases.

*le sigh*

its certainly better than nothing, though :)

I'm still waiting to see Hyper Music released. Why oh WHY has Hyper Music not been released?

Micro Cuts, MK Ultra, Dead Star, The Groove should be released as a pack. Preferably for Rock Band.

Love to see YouTube attempts of anyone trying to gold star Micro Cuts.

 

Glad they had Plug In Baby last time, Assassin was kind of boring and I didn't have the skills to play the drums on expert. Hysteria is still a blast on Rock Band though!

I agree, i love Hysteria on RB1, Plug in Baby was really good on GH5, KOC i find somewhat boring on GH3, it really has no atmosphere without a huge crowd sing along :p

 

Being a drummer myself, the beat to assassain on drums is very over-exaggerated on the game...:rolleyes:

 

Deadstar would be a pretty good choice for a game i recon

However, kids are not really the major audience for these games. It actually varies by system :p

Really? I think that might be the only Silversun Pickups song that I don't like. The chorus sounds like some generic pop band with Disney Channel-esque lyrics. The rest of the song is okay, though.
