Muse in June Issue of Jmag

Muse were featured a couple of times in the June Issue of Triple J's Jmag.

Once as a band voted with having some of the best updates via twitter.

Muse made it to 5 in the top 20 bands which formed in high school, beaten by The Beatles, U2, Radiohead and Silverchair.

The trio of Englishmen now known as Muse began in their mid-teens at Teignmouth Community College in Devon. Dom Howard gave Matt Bellamy an audition to try out for his band which included Chris Wolstenholme. When he joined as their guitarist/keyboardist, the trio searched futiely for a suitable vocalist before Matt stepped up to the plate. One original name was Rocket Baby Dolls (unbelieveable dull footage of some band exists online-supposedly them). In 1994, they won a local battle of the bands, much to their surprise. The three decided to forget about uni, quit their jobs, changed their name to Muse and moved away from Teignmouth.

Matt Bellamy was also one of the results of the "Which Lead Singer Are You?" Quiz, along with Lily Allen, Karen O, John Butler and Dizzee Rascal.

1) It's breakfast, what are you having?Matt's option: It's all about music, this question is ridiculous, not answering it.

2) In your spare time you like to...

Matt's option: Go down the pub and talk shit with the guys

3) Your personal style could be described as.....

Matt's option: I just walk around in jeans and a t-shirt, for special occasions I wear a button-down shirt

4) What are your songs about?

Matt's option: You're not sure, but they're pretty deep

5) ZOMG! All your friends are talking about you. Why?

Matt's option: You must've been talking about international conspiracies again and they're a bit worrried about you.

6) How do you get about?

Matt's option: A nice car. Nothing ridiculous, but it's European.

Personally, I dont think his personal style is quite correct. I think they forgot about the demon crow jacket, the grandma coat and all of Matt's other wonderfully outrageous attire!

Oh, I forgot to write what it said about Matt when you got him as an answer:

Mostly E's: Matt Bellamy (Muse). You have no time for silly gimmicks, you make authentic rock music. Learn those power chords and write a nine-minute epic!

No time for gimmicks...

Are they actually Matt's answers or just what they think he would answer? Because it doesn't sound all that like him does it?

They've also got the story of their beginnings a bit wrong too as they didn't give up their jobs and move away for quite a while, as I understand.

They're not Matt's answers

The writer just put together mock answers that the reader should choose, and those mock answers were supposed to be Bellamy-esque to provide the lulz.

That's what I thought! We know him better! :chuckle: For instance I can't see him refusing to answer what he had for breakfast even if it is a stupid question. He might come up with some jokey, elongated answer which also questions the origins of the universe but I can't imagine him thinking it below him as it's not a musical question.:D

The person who came up with his answers wasn't nearly imaginative enough! Not nearly as imaginative or witty as the man himself! :)
