For what its worth I thought they looked really happy as they left

And I suppose the concert is targeted to the live audience, not the fans following youtube and reviews on the interwebz. So of course its the show is better suited to and recieved by the target audience.

Too right.

I actually sniggered a little when Dom said we were the loudest crowd in Australia.

The others couldn't have been *that* bad! :D

Those Melbourners, they just aren't as enthusiastic as the nutters in Perth!

If we were that loud, our attitude doesn't match out state.

I thought they looked really happy throughout the night actually. I read a lot of people saying on this forum that they always look bored or just not into it, but I've never seen that when I've been there, Matt had a huge smile on his face at quite a few points last night, seemed to love to crowds response to a lot of the songs.

I think I'm definitely staying away from youtube videos of the next tour, I caved in at the start of this one and watched the first arena shows and stadium shows and checked all the set lists, but I want it to be a suprise next time around.

Best stay away from here since most people here will probably end up spoiling it for ya.

That's good to hear from you and Psych. It would have been a shame if the last one had been a disappointment.

i mean, that suit-thing...

Seriously?

This is Matthew Bellamy we're talking about.

MATTHEW. BELLAMY.

What were you expecting him to wear?

I thought he looked rather ravishing, myself. :matt:

I also think that Muse feed off the audience so if the audience are quiet, Muse are less in to it and they can't choose their audience, it's pot luck. Perhaps the audience would have been more energetic if they hadn't been kept waiting (I think that happened on November 4th, I think the audience were bewildered by the time Muse started, but this time it was apparently due to technical difficulties at the sound desk - shit happens, that's life).

That's how it was in bris on the 6th, the crowd just stood there, so the boys basically just caved in on themselves. That and the jetlag.

Twas an incredible show though!

wow.

made a whole account to tell half of you guys need to lift your game and quit being "muse snobs"

Huge muse fan, OOS, Absolution but I dont mind most of the more recent stuff at all. Had a look at the setlists for Melbourne and Adelaide, dragged all the songs into an itunes playlist and warmed up with those during the week... Didn't expect anything different to what has already been played on the tour.

I used Guiding Light to have a decent drink of water, wipe the sweat of my face and prepare for the 2nd half of the concert. I remember turning to a random next to me and saying im in an amazing mood right now.... So im pretty sure they I had a good time throughout the whole concert.

Everyone was dancing and knew the words to the songs (Middle, 10ish rows in)

Favourites for the night:

Bliss

Feeling Good

Undisclosed Desires (Soon as I heard the song come on I decided I was going to make out with the cutie next to me that had been giving me eyes and dancing with me during the concert, great success)

Plug in Baby

Knights

Defused 2 possible fights (Its as easy as saying its not worth fighting in a mosh)

Made a few random buddies

Bumped in a few friends

Left with a huge grin on my face

Great night

you are going to become a notorious perth bootlegger, well thats my aim anyways

Hahaha

I recorded some Biffy songs too, which you might be interested in :D

The Captain, Bubbles (Second half), The Golden Rule and Mountains :)

I was hoping they were going to play some older material, dunno why I was disappointed they didn't. Great set though :D

I can't be asked to read the rest of the rant because it's probably the usual tosh but to this:

That guitar has probably taken more hits than Dom's drum-kit.

'Probably' being your keyword?

Sure, Matt's smashed up a good 140 guitars onstage, and holds that as a World Record. But, he's never smashed his Glitterati Manson. EVER.

Even though, it's the Glitterati 2.0, it's still the Glitterati non-the-less.

Being said that witnessing Matt smashing up guitars may be rarer for some than for others, in your opinion it's quite common? How many times have you seen this happen for real? What do declare as common and rare?

I don't see rare as a once in a lifetime thing, but something that doesn't happen too often.

To see Matt hurl his Glitterati towards Dom's drumkit is something of a miracle, in my eyes. It's not just any guitar, y'know?

That, in itself, is a one time thing to see... For me, anyway.

Then you're wrong

Got it at Wembley, the crowd were better for Guiding Light to be honest. There was practically NO reaction to NSC. I was the only one on my part of the barrier singing.

I, personally, like both. I dunno, there's just something about Guiding Light....

Yes,it's called the solo.

To everyone out there that claims that they're 'true Muse fans', but yet are criticizing the show because you didn't get the setlist that you wanted and therefore are deeming it a boring, dull and bad performance then how can you possibly believe you are a true Muse fan?

Obviously, they'd have a similiar setlist with most of their shows. So why, if you knew what was to be expected, were you expecting more?

Can't you just appreciate and understand what took place here in Perth last night? Muse didn't have to come to Perth, but they did because apparently there were actually 'true Muse fans' in Perth who actually enjoyed their music. All of their music.

Who's there to deem rarities as rarities? Aren't all Muse songs rarities? Because technically, what you saw last night, was rare in itself because they didn't have to come to Perth and play, but they did.

Matthew even smashed his Glitterati. Isn't that the biggest rarity of them all?

And really, what's with all the hating on Guiding Light? True Muse fans appreciate every Muse song for what it is. Perfection. And to just hear a handful of them live from what's considered to be the world's best live band should be a honour. You should feel privileged.

Seriously, Chris just had his fifth kid. He could've gone home and cancelled the whole thing but no, he didn't. For you. For everyone. You should be grateful.

So shush up, go sit in the naughty corner and have a think about what you're accusing them of doing. They're not criminals. They haven't done anything wrong. But in your oppinion, they haven't done anything right. They're people. Just like you and me. No more important, no less important. But I know for goddamn sure that they have the best musical talent in the history of the universe and if you dare to argue with that, how can you possibly call yourself a true Muse fan?

I, for one, thought that was most probably the best night of my life, past and future. I've only ever dreamed of seeing them live, performing what they did last night. And to return to see all of this criticism makes me want to get up, walk to your house and brand 'Twilight Lover' onto your arse.

Sit the fuck down.

Cheers.

A true Muse fan does not have to love everything they do/say/play, but is open to the fact that they have awesome songs, good songs and the ones that are downright crap (GL, FG, UD yadda yadda yadda).

Of course I had a good time, they are probably the best live band in the world at the moment, which is why I fail to understand how they would waste their talent on crappy, teen-boppy friend cheese? I re-iterate, why settle for mediocrity?

Surely you muse have followed the Muse tour of North America, just before coming to Australia? Where they pretty much played the same set night after night and only 15 songs...

And for Muse being a rarity coming to Perth? Every time they toured for the last few tours, they've played twice here in a year. This was my 3rd Muse gig this year and I definately enjoyed them all, but things can be improved.

I'm sorry if I appreciate their music too much that I would be branded a "twilight lover" but I wasn't the one looking hell confused when they played Bliss or even Exogenesis, or the hoards of screaming teen bitches leaving halfway through the gig after SMBH and GL...

I'm glad you had a good time, really I do, for a first-timer it would have been an awesome gig, maybe the best thing you've ever done in your life (so far), but to have seen them perform at higher levels before and knowing what they can do musically, lyrically and visually, it's a shame when they stoop below that and appeal to the masses, with poppy/soppy cheese (one of the consequences of becoming mainstream I guess).

From the tone of your message, it seemed like last night was your first Muse experience, correct me if I'm wrong..

But I (like many other Musers) cannot and will not settle for mediocrity, whether that be at a Muse gig or in life generally.

yer i agree, i wish muse would s top dumbing down their music , its becomming so simple, so structured , so soft, i literally couldnt handle anymore after newborn, then they kept doing all these old crap riffs, then house of the rising sun FFS!, uhhh , first time people seeing this show would think their proggy as shit but the show is structured to a T every damn night, mars volta is still the best ive seen and keep shit interesting, if only they could get an outdoor gig as big as muse do.

This is my official list of crap muse songs that need to be boycotted;

TIRO, Hysteria, Feeling Good, Resistance, Guiding light, UD, Starlight, Inivincible,SBH, USOE.

But i still pray muse will bring out a better album next time.

Your kidding right?

The Glitterati was thrown/ tossed/ kicked/ dropped in a lot of the shows this year and has missed a few gigs because of it. Plus, the guitar has been treated like shit in the past few years also, however not as regularly as it has been lately. Same goes for the new one.

Basically, Glitterati/ Santa smashing is not uncommon at any show. :)
