volta
I'm looking for speakers or PA for vocals live. I'm willing to spend up to basically $150, so if any of you guys could recommend something that is good for vocals in a live setting. Couldn't find reviews on this: http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-GEM-GSM1585 or this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390110219779&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Are these two good? cheddatom
so do you have a PA amp to drive your speakers? Both speakers you posted are allright, but you might be better off buying a "bundle" deal with an amp, speakers, cables and mics etc to get you started. Do you have a beard? volta
If I were to buy a passive speaker, I was thinking I'd hook that up to a mixer then to a regular bass amp. But as for active speakers, are there any that you'd recommend in the 150$ price range?
cheddatom
a regular bass amp? WTF are you doing?! Do you have a powered mixer then? (this doesn't mean does the mixer have a power cable, it means does it have a power amp) I'm no PA expert. I've been looking at used stuff on ebay recently to try and get moar volume out of my shit PA. There's lots of good deals about. If you need everything then buy new and get a shitty bundle. If you just need bits buy second hand and save some cash! Jew it up. Do you have a beard?
volta
I'm looking to go the active speaker route now.. I was thinking maybe this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300432239701&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT But I'm not an expert on specs, so based on these specs, do you think this speaker would be loud enough over drums, bass, and guitar? Through the speaker will be a mic for a sax or a mic just for vocals..
haze015
You still require a mixer or an amplifier for the microphone. Powered/active speakers basically have power amps to power the speakers, but they don't have pre amps, which is what adds volume to the microphone. All amps work like this. volta
yea I do have a mixer already, sorry should've mentioned that
cheddatom
they look OK. 250W RMS should get vocals over a drummer. They're cheap though so i'm guessing they're not that great. That shop ships to the UK so if you don't mind, buy some, play a CD through them, then tell me if it sounds shit/good so I can decide whether to get some.
