Hello,

It's a bit late after the war (as it was in the pit) but here are my pics from the gig

Muse - Casino de Paris - May 2010

I've also got some full videos (HD) on my youtube, here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/vmandrant#p/a/u/0/SunbacgEhMA

- IBTY & Hysteria are ready but Man+KOC is still uploading (should be ready on about 30mn) :D

Thanks for those

A few more pictures...

Shame we didn't get to meet up, I think I had gone to the cafe across the road when you and Lynda tried to find me. With a bit of luck I am sure we will see each other at SDF.

People who went, how did you feel about Hysteria being in the encore?

I found that more suprising when it popped up than TIRO, New Born, SS being dropped or having Bliss and IBTY in the set. How did you guys find it?

I thought it was a nice surprise as I didn't expect it to open the encore but it worked really well with Interlude kicking off things slowly and then the full blast of hysteria.

I didn't miss SS, NB or TIRO at all tbh. It's wasn't until when I read the thread here that I realise "oh yeah they didn't play them but I couldn't care less!"

Bliss was great really got the crowd going and the biggest surprise of the night was IBTY. I never thought they would play it first in a such a small venue bearing in mind how matt feels about singing in French.

The gig was outstanding, the energy of the crowd and the performance and energy of the band was amazing. I never Matt so relax before. Of course it was a small set it is a secret gig and they always tend to be but this is by far my favourite Muse gig so far.

EDIT: MK Ultra is a hell of an opener. I almost lost it when I realise they were opening with it

I think next tour I will be shunning the arenas and trying to get to shows like this.

I was quite happy to see that they picked Hysteria as the only song from Absolution to play and am very happy that not only was MK Ultra played, they opened the show with it. I guess i'm still not keen there being none of the proper heavy stuff or being overly keen on the bits between Supermassive and Plug In Baby but at least there was no Feeling Good or Guiding Light or something like Unintended slowing things up. Plus you got the first plays of NSC and IBTY (no matter what I think of them). No TIRO and the inclusion of Bliss suggests optimism for Glasto and Wembley somewhat restored.

You can imagine how happy I was when they wheeled the piano to the centre stage and that by the time Matt sat down there was no megaphone on the top of it!

NSC is by far not my favourite song but I am glad I got to hear something new and different and IBTY is one of my favourite songs out of TR so I was certainly not gonna complain about it.

But the thing is a lot of it wasn't just about the setlist: a lot was down to the performance too: it didn't feel over rehearsed and staged like some of the arena gig I went too, all 3 of them looked really relax and like they were genuinely having a good time which helped make the gig.

This gig has def. gotten me excited for Glasto and the stadium gigs now.

Mixed up the order, played a few different songs and dropped some of the more familair ones. No wonder they seemed more into it. Even if 11 or 12 songs were the same as they've been playing for months they look to have been performed in different orders and in different ways. That's a great thing for keeping the product fresh and exciting.

Muse should stop arena touring and just do medium-sized venues, where they can actually see/interact a tad with their audience.

The two tour/arena shows I've been to are the worst two Muse gigs I've been to.

And interact with each other as well. There were several times where Matt seemed to have a little chat with Dom and Chris, which is hard to do if they're on their towers..

And Matt encouraging the Morgan chant to spread and Dom joining in to drum a beat to it. You would have never seen that at an arena gig.

Indeed, it's those little bits that make YOUR show special, rather than just one of twenty lifeless, soulless, carbon-copy gigs.

I really wish they had the balls to actually wake up on the day of a show and go, 'hey, let's play Uno tonight' and then just do it.

Muse's music is, for the most part, very simplistic - hell, I can play 90% of Chris' bass parts, there's no reason they can't relearn and rehearse an old song in a spare hour or so prior to a show/in soundcheck.

I did get a bit worried that he was gonna bust out unintended as the guitar sounded ready for it, fortunately went into starlight which oddly a lot jumped to. Hysteria at the end was perfect, any mixed set will make the gig seem fresh.

Aye, smaller gigs using a similar method to how they sold tickets for Teignmouth. They intereacted quite a bit there too, it's much more fun when they do that

Only thing I would say that didn't work was the inclusion of UD. Killed the mood for me a bit, although did give some time for us to get our breath back and to cool down. Never been so drenched in sweat at a gig...

UD just doesn't work live, at all for me.

I love the song, but it just doesn't fit live, never has. Also, where it's usually placed in the set is more suited to a song that works as a transition from piano back to guitar. I'd rather B&H, or New Born, or Starlight took that spot.
