Slight deviation from topic (but anything to keep this thread near the top ;) )...

The trip for this gig will be my first time in Montreal or Quebec City. I haven't booked hotels in either city yet so any input on which areas of town are most desirable would be great (I'd like to be within walking distance to the most interesting areas, museums, good food, etc).

Any recommendations for things I shouldn't miss in either city would also be great.

Can't wait until October 21! :D

For Montreal, the Delta Centre-Ville hotel is really good. In fact, it's the only chain of hotels I go to and for the Muse show in Québec City, I will be staying at the Delta Québec ;) Here's the link for the Delta Centre-Ville http://www.deltahotels.com/en/hotels/hotels.php?hotelId=42 and here's the link for the Delta Québec http://www.deltahotels.com/en/hotels/quebec/delta-quebec/. I suggest you stay at the Delta Quebec in Quebec City, because it is walking distance from the Pepsi Coliseum. It's about 40 minutes I believe, which isn't so bad (plus you'll be able to see the City ;)) Google maps can give the details to get there, that's what I did ;)

If you're planning to go to Montreal before or after, you should try out a few restaurants :awesome: There's ''Au pied de cochon'' (which basically means ''At the pig's foot'' :p), that has a menu of fancy meals but with a twist. The twist being mainly ''foie gras'' some times XD If you like meat, it's the place for you: lamb, duck, guinea hen, pork, beef and so on. It's a bit expensive and requires a reservation because it's really popular but it's like no other restaurant in Montreal. Here's the link http://www.restaurantaupieddecochon.ca/index_e.html

Another restaurant in Montreal is La Banquise. If you have never tried ''poutine'' before, this is the place to go. Poutine is a ''fast-food'' type meal created in Quebec. It's basically fries, cheese curds and gravy sauce. But at La Banquise, there are many variations you can choose from. After an all-nighter or when drunk, this is best stuff XD Here's the link http://www.restolabanquise.com/index.php?lang=en

Also in Montreal, there is the Biodome (a ''living'' museam that allows you to walk through 4 replicas of ecosystems and admire live creatures) and the Insectarium (another museum featuring a very large quantity of insects. There are even tastings sometimes XD), but they are both closed at the moment. Let's hope they'll be open when you are in Montreal ;) There's also the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal that's worth a look. Very beautiful http://www.basiliquenotredame.ca/en/ There's also the Montreal Science Center (a kind of interactive museum) that has interesting expositions and 3D Imax semi-documentaries sometimes. http://www.montrealsciencecentre.com/home.html

I'm not sure about walking distance but there is the Montreal Metro (and buses) that usually take you very close.

For Quebec City, I haven't been there before so I can't really give you any tips but a place you should definitely look at is Le Château Frontenac. It's a hotel but as you see on their website (http://www.fairmont.com/EN_FA/Property/LCF/Index.htm) it's a piece of architecture that you want to see up close lol.

Wow, thanks for all the info Aliss! I looked at the hotels you recommended and they look amazing but a little out of my budget! I'm trying to save my pennies for another trip to Europe next year! Lots of helpful information though...I appreciate it! :):)

  • 2 weeks later...
I hope you can make it ;) Will be able to sell your ticket if you can't make it, though? That would suck if you paid 75$ for nothing :(

Yea, I'd try Hopefully I could post it to someone fast enough. But If I find a job quick enough I should be able to make it.

We're giving the bracelets at the entrance of the Coliseum before the doors open but we won't have enough for everyone. So far, we've collected enough money in our fundraiser to have around 3100 bracelets. We will give 300 of them in the first rows of the floor and then give the rest outside.

If you would like to contribute to our fundraiser, here's the link: http://glowinthedark.chipin.com/glow-in-the-dark

For more info or to get updates on the bracelets, join our facebook event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=114903208548523&ref=ts

Sure, no problem. I send a message to the members every two weeks, so I'll just re-post here ;) Next message should be very soon

I gave 25$ so far, but it depends on how much you are comfortable donating: the important part is the participation ;) If you are comfortable with 2$, that's okay: if a lot of people give 2$ here and there, it adds up quickly :p And since we're buying it in bulk, 1 dollar goes a long way compared to if we bought it in pharmacies or dollarstores.

It's official, I've done my budget and I cannot afford to go :'( I spent wayyyy over my budget on my England trip.

Does anyone know anyone who wants a ticket? I'll sell it at cost price (The price I paid) Plus a little bit more for postage. It's in section 101 I think so it's pretty good. Right in front of the stage behind the floor area.

have been following this thread for a while...have never responded before...How is the bracelet idea going? I think that I may buy a couple hundred on my own and hand them out in my section. I think it is an awesome idea, and it will look great! Our seats are not GA, though, but I still think its cool.

Do you think they will be spending the night in QC?

That really sucks Luthien :( If only it was in 111, I would've bought your ticket.

We have around 3100-3200 bracelets so far + all the people getting some on their own + people who have already bought boxes of 100 bracelets, so it's going good. I think they might spend the night, they don't have a show for couple of days after that :D

That sounds good about the bracelets! Is there a link to the website where they will be ordered? They are the 8 inch green glowing ones right? We went to the Montreal show in March and our seats were not bad but not as close as I would have liked. Never got to touch the eyeballs!
