Dave.
I saw on the Zvex forums people asking how to install the internal FF kit and he said how he wanted mansons doing the installation with it, not selling the kit seperately Fitting one is just gutting a ff, routing out the body, wiring it up and bobs your uncle (suprise!!) Crowella
Fitting one is just gutting a ff, routing out the body, wiring it up and bobs your uncle (suprise!!) For a lot of people though, that's not exactly easy. I for one suck with a router so god help us if we get a 13 year old kid that just learnt to walk get their hands on a router, a soldering iron and a guitar. IIRC they stopped selling the kits after he asked them not to, they now only do the installation for you so zvex doesn't have a bunch of kids asking how to install a FF in their guitar so they can Plug in Baby

Dee3Dee
Could someone tell me the difference between these two Fuzz Factory pedals? http://www.mansons.co.uk/shopping/categories/z-vex-effects/z-vex/fuzz-factory-pedal/ http://www.mansons.co.uk/shopping/categories/z-vex-effects/z-vex/vexter-fuzz-factory-pedal/ The description and everything is the same, but there's a pretty hefty difference in price. What's the difference besides the look?

What's the difference besides the look? Apparently it's just that the first one is handpainted and hand wired. No other difference IIRC
tomrulez
The more expensive one is hand painted and I think the Vexter's are mass produced in china or somewhere similar.
Dee3Dee
But the actual quality is no different?
tomrulez
No they both produce identical sounds.

Crowella
But the hand painted is better if you want to bell0rz, just cause he has one in his huge Manson!

Yeah, as far as I know the construction is the same with identical parts, but the vexters are made in taiwan and are not hand painted. I'm not 100% about the construction though, as apparently you can't fit the vexters into a guitar from what Mansons says. I doubt the sound is any different though. Bs
My mum complains that the Fuzz Factory oscillation makes her fillings hurt! But the hand painted is better if you want to bell0rz, just cause he has one in his huge Manson! He has a Vexter too!

Dave.
The vexter has a big chip going the full length of the pedal in it. Thats why they can't be fitted by mansons

Thats why they can't be fitted by mansons I don't see any big chip...unless you mean the PCB... vexter: hand painted:
tomrulez
To be honest I see no reason why Mansons can't fit the Vexters into guitars, I was under the assumption that the hand painted ones didn't have the pots attached to the pcb but after seeing those pics they seem identical in construction. Neil.
they are. Mansions probably get a bigger margin from the hand painted ones.
cheddatom
how would they have a bigger margin on a product that costs more?
Dave.
Looking at them side by side, the only difference is the PCB colour. Which is probably the only way Huge can identify a vexter without a cover.
cheddatom
the transistors on the vexter are flat against the board where as on the hand painted one they still have legs.
Dave.
Probably because the boards on the vexter are mass produced. Its easier to solder when theres a bit of leg left
