Clunge
One of Muse's most underrated songs. Proof that Muse can do soulful, bluesy music if they want to. It's got a whack of Tom Waits about it I always think.
Riveon
I used to quite like it, especially the build up at the end. These days, I find it to be quite dull.
grabacr 31770
I quite like it. It's grown on me recently. I much prefer the studio version to anything else. My favourite bit is 3:15 to 3:54, the quiet breakdown with loads if reverb. Love it.
Uccellino
I love Darkshines, especially the piano bits. It's not quite as good without them. It's one of my all time fave Muse tracks.
Jazzthief
So I'm confused. Which one is the right one? I see people use both. The official website says Dark Shines, in the lyrics it's also Dark Shines but the CD case has Darkshines written on it. Could someone clear this one out for me? Hat
Darkshines, Micro Cuts and New Born. At least that's how I write them.
diamond_writer
I would think it's Dark Shines, since Darkshines isn't a pwoper contraction (?),but i don't know.
Hat
I would think it's Dark Shines, since Darkshines isn't a pwoper contraction (?),but i don't know. Neither is New Born as far as I know.
Noodles
I've given this a merge, for obvious reasons. You can carry on getting to the bottom of this conundrum here.
MartinSM
I always alternate between the two, but Dark Shines is more correct, but I suppose Darkshines works as well, I suppose it could be seen as coining a new word, which would allow it to be one word. Same for Micro Cuts, either works, and I tend to swap between the two. New Born I've almost always spelt seperately, but again, it sort of could work both ways. Scott7
It should be Darkshines, Micro Cuts and New Born xD I think that's the best way
Gemsy
THIS SONG DAT BASS screamy bells in the last chorus though 4 measly pages of love And whatever happened to CarrieB ahaha, she was the Ultimate Muse Defender
DifferentPerson
Can't believe no one posted in this thread after Reading 2011 (until now). So of course it's time to post this glorious video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LJdPiIYWXw
serpentsatellite
That version actually ruined the album version for me. Now it's never good enough. I think at the time everyone was super focused on SD, and this one was underrated. Oh, and of course the fact that Muse made sure it was a pain in the ass to actually see it. Gemsy
I was almost annoyed that he didn't do the words properly, but then they put that extra chord in FUCK
serpentsatellite
I'm sure he forgot the words. I was never a huge fan of the song, but I really, really liked that performance.

smoledman
The lead guitar melody is a homage to early 1960s British guitar music(pre-Beatles).
