If I went it would be at the expense of the Paris trip, or part of it at least. As I really want to see Paris I'm going to be sensible and save all my money for that

Same here pretty much, plus Glastonbury too, it's all too much money.

How would I go about getting to Rock AM Ring from England .. bearing in mind that I don't speak a word of German.

By going with the rest of us non-German speaking folk. Well I think Dr Mozza can speak it somewhat, I can understand it to an extent haha

Most Germans will speak English anyway.

"Ich bin English" usually works.

If you really want to learn phrases (and baring in mind they are likely to respond in German!)

"Ich mochte ein/zwei/drei/vier Karte fur Rock am Ring bitte" - I would like one/two/three/four tickets for Rock am Ring please

"Ich mochte die Billigsten" - I'd like the cheapest

"Wo ist das?" - Where is that?

"Was kostet das?" - How much is that?

"Ich habe kein Geld" - I have no money

"Ich liebe dich" - I love you (might work)

"Du hast schone Augen" - You have beautiful eyes

Once you are there, you may need these:

"Ich mochte ein bier bitte" - I'd like a beer please

"Wo ist mein Zelt?" - Where is my tent

"Ich habe kein Zelt, kann ich mit ihnen teilen?" - I have no tent, can I share with you

"Wenn ist Muse spielen?" - When are Muse playing?

"Was ist dein Leiblingslied von Muse?" - What is your favourite Muse song?

"Das Wetter ist wunderbar" - The weather is wonderful

"Ich trinke bier" - I drink beer
