Personally I think PiB fits the list compared with the other riffs that are on it, if you know what I mean, but I agree that there are sooo many other Muse riffs that are just as good if not better.

Best Guitar Riffs lists sucks cause chances are that 80% of whatever content is on there will always be the same throughout every publication or magazine.

I think PIB is the best one because it feels as if the entire song is built upon the brilliant riff, whereas New Born has it's general pace and dynamic changes as does Stockholm Syndrome.

Pretty much, and then there's the fact that it's so recognizable, which I think is what they really base the riffs on instead in those lists, not the quality.

 

I can list so many riffs that are better than Hendrix but its not like many people would instantly recognize them.

To clarify for any readers who find this confusing: this latest poll was a readers' poll conducted by MusicRadar.com. A previous poll that turned up virtually identical results was the Total Guitar magazine readers' poll from five years ago, in which "PIB" turned up as #12 or #13, I don't remember which.

 

Does anybody know offhand if both polls were vulnerable to, ahem, repeated internet voting?

Listen to Van Hlens first album. Eddie's guitar work in it is amazing, a lot more creative and techincal than Matts.

Even though it's not my favourite, PIB is probably their best riff

I'm not voting on that :/ Most of those are either crap/boring/overplayed/uninspiring... Enter Sandman is boring for Metallica, Plug in Baby is boring for Muse and Sweet Child O Mine? OH REALLY?
