caitlin_f Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 No, I dont feel like I have to like everything they do, but most of their stuff I love anyway. There's only a few songs that I really hate, but most of its good.

musex Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Except for Exog., this album is a bit disappointing , though I still think they're genius:happy:
miss_meadows Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 No, I don't think that I have to love every song of my fave band. I love Muse but sorry, can someone exorcise Freddie Mercury out of Matthew? USOE is my skip-song. I tried to like it but I can't. Same with Micro Cuts, Screenager... UD is kinda funny, I can still live with that but don't find it that great. Loving a band doesn't mean you have to stop having an opinion, using your own brain, being honest, having good taste or having some fashion sense.

Sorry, I just burst out laughing I don't like every single song Muse has made and I do skip some of their songs, depending on my mood. But on the other side, I also don't feel the need to hate the songs that are generally disliked on the board. Most Muse fans do think for themselves and don't follow everything blindly... or at least I'd like to hope it's so
Dilt Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I don't feel like that. I like everything muse do because it's great, and if it's not great; I don't like it x) I don't like the New Moon version of I Belong to you, for example...
CarrieB Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 This is nothing against you at all, but it's comments like this that just contradict everything that most people say. People say Muse cross so many different genres. If they do so, why is it that so many of their fans love every single one of those genres? It's unbelievable. If you can tell me you like/love EVERY SINGLE Muse song, chances are, you're lying. That's why I believe so many fans just say they like Song A and B so much, because they have it shoved in their head that they have to sacreligiously love everything. Personally I do like lots of different genres, so crossing genre's isn't a problem for me. There probably are some people like you say but I just think it may be a bit of a generalisation to assume that everyone is like that just because they're not particularly critical of anything. I think Muse tend to put their stamp on their music so it has a similar feel to it. At the moment I'm really into The Resistance in a big way, as well as liking the Hullabullo B sides and Showbiz the best and I'm less into Absolution and OoS, though they used to be my favourites. I like BHaR too but thats probably behind Showbiz, maybe its equal, I'm not sure.

I don't like that either, should have just been the album verson without the french bit (which is hopefully what they'll play live, if they ever play it!)

Yeah, they should play it live... even tho Matt said that it would probably not make the setlist Maybe on the stadium concerts?
Natural_Disaster Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 No, I don't think I like everything. Like Sober, for example, I used to quite like that, but now I can't even listen to it all the way through. I have no idea why, I just hate it. I'm not too keen on Overdue either. Or Darkshines. Feeling Good isn't one of my favourites, and I don't think it should be played live as often as it is, but it's still a brilliant cover. And Starlight, I don't get all the hate for that, I love that song. As for the different genre thing, that doesn't bother me because I like different genres of music anyway. In my top 10 Muse songs, there's Dead Star and there's Undisclosed Desires, both completely different songs but I still love them both, because one appeals to the side of me that loves rock music and the other appeals to the (slightly more embarassing) side of me that doesn't mind some pop music. But no, not everything Muse do is amazing. Like Pink Ego Box.
SlaveToTheGrave Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I don't feel obliged to like every Muse song, but I kind of do. Some a lot more than others I would like to add! I think that on this forum now you'd tend to feel more obliged to moan about Muse as opposed to celebrating them. That makes you a true fan, apparently.
KockAnders Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I'm typically more open to what Muse does, which means I do get to like a lot of things I wouldn't normally like if it wasn't made by Muse. That doesn't mean I don't genuinely like the stuff that Muse does I wouldn't normally be open to, but had another band done it, I would've probably gone "meh" and never paid much attention to it. So I guess in a way I do, but it isn't as much forcing myself to like something I would normally hate, it is more trusting Muse that the genres I'd normally despise doesn't necessarily have to be shite.
Dana R. Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 i wouldn't have loved MUSE so much if they did something bad.they're perfect for me and almost everything they do is awesome. *almost because of twilight.hate this stupid movie.
Furygirl Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I like most of their stuff anyway, but I don't waste energy posting about how much i dislike the stuff i don't; rather just avoid it. Unlike some, I don't see the point really? I mean other than appearing as an UBER COOL REBEL LOL to everyone else. Well, now there's a sensible post. There's a few Muse songs I don't like, so I just don't listen to them. I don't feel the need to get into a debate about those songs.
Ella Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I tend to like most of the stuff, not hate any of it, and find some of it to be okay. One of the things I love about it here is that you are allowed to have an opinion. In forums for some other musicians you get flamed if you even hint that something they did wasn't golden.
hyper_chondriac_muser Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 No. Just because it's Muse, doesn't mean I have to like it or think it's amazing. It's just worked out that I like about 90% of what they do - music, live shows etc. But not just because it says 'Muse' on the label; I'm by no means above admitting when some songs aren't v good or if their performances are slacking nowadays, or, just generally, when I think something Muse-related is crap, lol. That applies to everything, though... you can't 100% love everything about one specific thing! That's the beauty of having an opinion/brain, lol. It's a bit unhealthy to completely adore everything about them. BUT, I do admit that I'm quite obsessed, and there's not been anything I've completely hated. Even their worst songs aren't that bad, imo. Say what you will about that, but I know it's not cos I'm a psycho fanatic, hehe... it's just my personal view.
L. Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Muse songs fall into so many different category for me: - songs I loved from the first listen and have remained that way - songs I didn't enjoy at first but grew on me - songs I enjoyed but didn't weather the passing of time very well - songs I never liked and have remained that way I thought the purpose of a forum was to discuss the good and the bad, differences of opinions, etc... That's how I met a lot of people here who've become real friends. I praise muse as much I am not afraid to say if I feel something they did is off and the reason why. If all we did around here was to praise muse for everything they've ever done and only discussed the good bit, it would be quite a boring place.

We've had a lot of debate about that recently... the flaming definitely happens. Definitely. But it depends on what/where/how you say it . For the most part, it's not that bad.
*OoS* Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 In a weird way I'm scared I won't love a Muse song... but the only ones I don't "love" (Starlight, Invincible) I like, just not adore. I feel almost an obligation to love anything they do, but I adore 99% of it anyway
hyper_chondriac_muser Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 In a weird way I'm scared I won't love a Muse song... but the only ones I don't "love" (Starlight, Invincible) I like, just not adore. I feel almost an obligation to love anything they do, but I adore 99% of it anyway +1, 100% exactly! ... you put it much better than I did . I was too afraid to listen to Hullabaloo when I first go it, in case I wouldn't like/love even one of the songs, haha! The reason I love Muse so much anyway is because they hardly do anything (musically) that I don't like, and they're the only band to have that impact on me. But that's not to say I can't admit if there's something a bit off. Anyways, v well put!
hahahaha Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I mostly like all muse stuff but I really can't stand undisclosed disires. And I'm sick to death of starlight through overplaying and supermassive black hole through bloody twighlight!!! Most of my friends say 'Oh yeah muse are great, I love them' and they only have supermassive black hole which they play over and over again.
funkadelic Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 No. If I don't like a Muse song I'll say so. However, many of the songs I initially didn't like have grown on me in some way or another.
