Uprising - Fun track. Great live and despite being totally cliché, I really like it. 8/10

Resistance - Used to be my favorite, but now I can barely listen to it. 5/10

Undisclosed Desires - Lovely track, awful live. 7/10

United States of Eurasia - Still not sure what to think of this. But atm I feel nostalgic while listening to it. Remembering the summer when I first heard it. 7/10

Guiding Light - No. 3/10

Unnatural Selection - Felt a bit lame to me at first. But it has grown, and it's great live. 7/10

MK Ultra - Sometimes I love it, sometimes I can't get passed the intro. 8/10

I Belong To You - Amazing. Totally amazing. 9/10

Overture - A bit boring. Loved it at first, but quickly grew tired of it. 6/10

Cross-Pollination - When I'm the right mood. More of this Muse! 8/10

Redemption - Amazing track. Not much more to say. Great vocals. 9/10

 

All in all, a good album that should have been more focused.

 

 

Not trying to argue with you, but I'm just curious as to what you dislike so much about Resistance?

Just had another listen. Okay, I'll give it a 6. But really, what the hell were they thinking? Starts off great, and then everything just turns to shit with "It could wrong"

I do agree with ^ that. The bridges of Resistance are the only reason I didn't give it a 10, "It could be wrong, could be wrong"; could have been better is more like it :rolleyes: Apart from that part though, I love it.

 

I love that song but this part made me :LOL:

Uprising - 8/10 (I can't really rate it higher than that but damn, they know how to make a good single. I still haven't gotten sick of it yet and yet it would have an extremely high playcount)

Good things about the album

The Resistance has, in my opinion, the best theme so far of all Muse's album, I love the idea of it. It's structured beautifully, with the last three tracks rounded into one it makes the album consise and compact avoiding their message coming across in an overly 'preachy' manner. They experiment with different styles and cultures of music far more than in any other album, the album is dense in variety.

 

Bad things about the album

I think the jump from Absolution to Black Holes and Revelations was more of a jump than from Black Holes and Revelations to The Resistance. However, the first jump was massive, so its almost understandable. Their message at times becomes a little confusing with the many different styles of songs and music featured.

 

Best track

Exogenesis: Part III (Redemption), an incredibly beautiful and perfect ending to an album that I don't believe will ever be beaten.

Favorite album of all time, so of course I gave it 5

 

Uprising - 9/10 Fantastic live song, love the lyrics

Resistance - 8/10 Much better live than on the record

Undisclosed Desires - 8/10 LOVE the studio version, but sounds distorted live

Unites States of Eurasia - 9/10 Wasn`t a fan of it until I heard it live, just wow..

Guiding Light - 7/10 Cheesy, but fun track..

Unnatural Selection - 10/10 The studio version is great, live it is mindblowing

MK Ultra - 10/10 Fantastic

I Belong to You 9/10 Really cool song, even better live

Overture - 9/10 See Undisclsed Desires...

Cross-Pollination 10/10 Brilliant

Redemption 10/10 Words can`t describe the feeling I get when I listen to the piano intro. In my opinion the best Muse song ever written

Uprising - I only ever listen to this for a laugh nowadays, but it's still a solid track. 8/10

Resistance - As was said before, if the bridge was better, this would have been a killer. 5/10

Undisclosed Desires - I appreciate that it's a good song, but it's not what I want to hear. 4/10

United States of Eurasia - Again, good for a laugh and tremendous live, it stands out. 9/10

Guiding Light - I've lost interest now. The only good part is the guitar solo and even that's a strain now. 3/10

Unnatural Selection - Surely the heaviest track and the most fun live. Fantastic. 10/10

MK Ultra - The "Assassin" of the album. Unfortunately. 8/10

I Belong to You - If the song had ended before the clarinet solo, it would have been right up there. 5/10

Overture - Not half bad, but rather boring live. 7/10

Cross-Pollination - Don't listen to this much, even though there's no real reason not to. 7/10

Redemption - Complete with emotionally charged strings and heart breaking vocals! :awesome: 9/10

 

Overall:7ish/10

Needed a bit more spit and polish.

Uprising - 8/10 - One of my favs but already overplayed

Resistance 6/10- I didn't like it at all, but played live is even acceptable, however I love Dom drumming

Undisclosed Desires - 10/10 - I just love it, also for the video with Dom pushing a box;)

United States of Eurasia - 8/10 - very rich in inspirations, I really like it

Guiding Light - 1/10 - not as bad as everyone makes out imo.I just can't listen to it. One point for confetti when played live at Wembley;)

Unnatural Selection - 5/10 - probably I haven't discovered it properly yet

MK Ultra - 8/10 - I enjoy the guitar and the rythm, it's just good

I Belong To You - 5/10 - Average

Exogenesis Part 1: 6/10 nothing special for me, sorry

Part 2: 6/10 same...

Part 3: 10/10 - absolutely mindblowing, as a dancer I just see feel it inside. Amazing.

 

Overall a bit more than 7/10, but I'd say that totally it is a really good album deserving at least 8.

Uprising: It's good, I like it as an opener and it's great for a crowd sing-a-long but I sekritly hope it'll fade into the background for the next tour. Doubtful, but hopefully something better can replace it. 6/10.

 

Resistance: I have a bit of a soft spot for Resistance. I love the intro and outro, the best parts of the song by far. Both parts are quite eerie and when the drums kick in I always feel a bit...omg...lol. It makes me think of the o2 gigs and the fantastic time some of us had dancing to it. 7/10

 

Undisclosed Desires: Quite a smooth track, the best it sounded live was at Teignmouth on the first night and since then it's lost its spark. Interesting to see them chance their hand at something like this but it gets a bit boring after a few listens. 4/10

 

USoE: Love this song but probably because of the memories of the first time I heard it. I was at a Muser meet when it was being released in parts and I remember us lolling at it. It's fantastic live, I love me a bit of air piano. 7/10

 

GL: Dead to me. 0/10

 

Unnatural Selection: Feels like a re-make of New Born although it is a face melter live. 6/10

 

MK Ultra: Reminds me of old Muse. Needs moar. 8/10

 

I belong to You: Just, lol. 3/10

 

Exogenisis pt 1, 2 & 3: Overall, 7 out of 10. Part one brings it down.

This album is very appealing to those who enjoy the album's "ghosty" style.

 

The previous albums are probably more attractive to a broader range of people.

Yep, that's is why this album sold much better than the last ones.
