Take A Bow - I love this song, but for some reason don't listen to it often. 9/10

 

Starlight - Had to grow on me, but I quite enjoy it now. 8/10

 

Supermassive Black Hole - Might have to agree with what Sippe said here. "Solo" brings it down a bit though. 8/10

 

Map of The Problematique - I just could not get into this track until relatively recently. Still not my favorite but still pretty good. 7/10

 

Soldiers Poem - I actually like this song a lot, but I can understand why some don't. Definitely in the wrong spot on the album. 7/10

 

Invincible - Really enjoy this song, and always have. Love the spacey-ness. 8/10

 

Assassin - Judging the song itself? 9.5/10. But on the album? 7.5/10

 

Exo-Politics - Most criminally underrated Muse song in my opinion. 8.5/10

 

City of Delusion - Brilliant, I wish Muse would do more like this. 11/10

 

Hoodoo - This was my favorite song (by anyone) ever for a while. Still near the top. 11/10

 

Knights of Cydonia - I never get tired of this song, and it's even better live. 11/10

 

Overall - If I average out the scores I gave for each song, I get about 8.75. However since the last 3 songs are perfection in my opinion, I have to bump the score up to 9/10.

 

I really didn't realize how much I love this album until recently. Although it has some serious flow issues, and the production could be better, the strength of the individual tracks is pretty impressive, and the last three are phenomenal.

Good things about the album

Although Muse had progressed and evolved from album to album, Black Holes and Revelations is the album that sent them soaring into a world far beyond the limits of this one. They took music to a new level with every song. It's a very consistent, well-constructed, risky and daring album that shows the trio maturing from a 'band' to a trio of legendary musicians and writers.

 

Bad things about the album

Whilst I think the opening and closure of the album are both spectacular, the middle falls very slightly flat in comparison, but this is incredibly slight and I had to think a while on this heading.

 

Best track

Take A Bow, Knights of Cydonia and Glorious all tie for first.

 

Worst track

Invincible, though live, I admit, this is fantastic.

 

Favourite moment

The second half of Take A Bow.

Take A Bow - This song used to be the song I listened to if I needed to walk somewhere really quickly. It's got a bit old now though. 8/10

Starlight - I have grown tired of this as it's incredibly overplayed. 6/10

Supermassive Black Hole - This song doesn't sound like Muse to me, it sounds like a 'pop' take on Muse. 6/10

Map of The Problematique - I don't think I'll ever tire of this song, it still gives me goosebumps. 10/10

Soldiers Poem - The only Muse song that makes me want to throw something at whatever's playing it. Sorry, but I'm not a fan. 2/10

Invincible - Bit of an anthem. Meh. 7/10

Assassin - Not a lot to say. 7/10

Exo-Politics - Loved this song ages ago, but like the rest of this album, I've listened to it too many times. 7/10

City of Delusion - I love this, such a sing-in-the-shower song. 8/10

Supermassive Black Hole - 9/10 - If i don't listen to this song often, it stays as one of my favs

Map of the Problematique - 10/10 - Best track on the album

Soldiers Poem - 5/10 - It will probably grow though :LOL:

Invincible - 4/10 - Worst track on the album

Assassin - 8/10 - Better than average

Exo-Politics - 7/10 - Average

City of Delusion - 10/10 - Great

Hoodoo - 7/10 - Average

Knights of Cydonia - 9/10 - can get a bit tedious with all the build up

 

Overall: 7.5/10, Some good songs, some bad songs, overall an average album :)
